I’m amazed at how hard the power boats have to work to be with them in these seas. Sure, the skippers a working hard, but the boats are working so well. Amazing.

That's awesome. Nail the downwind finish and then crash right after. That's Finn sailing, mate!!

You see the Finn is still a challenging boat, and can handle even such conditions. FD and Finn, superboats!!!

This is why OBS needs to get onto the ocean course at the Olympics and show this man vs the elements stuff. Also the Finn along with the 470 are the only boats that can have a good race in these conditions and an even bigger sea state. Drone coverage now means we can get even better coverage than what we have seen in this and similar video.

I don’t know why anyone would sail a Finn except on a dare. There can’t be a slower sailboat- and in all that wind. It’s like a 3 legged dog race. Still, I admire the sailors.

Sail a Finn downwind in 20 knots- the word slow will never be further from your mind🤣

Nice video, but a still a slog compared to modern skiffs like the 49er. Finn still needs to be replaced with high-performance singlehanded trapeze skiff, like IYRU first proposed in1967. Could it really be 50 years ago since a design competition was held precisely for this purpose, with successful designs by Bob Miller/ Ben Lexcen and Paul Elvstrom (Lexcen's chosen, still an active international class). Update it to a 49er-like skiff design, with enough sail area for Finn-sized sailors to still be competitive. Wild wipeouts alone would be worth the price of admission on breezy days like this.
