THANK YOU SO MUCH...for telling the TRUTH about that bullet hole!!!!! GREAT WORK!
Thank you for the words of encouragement!!
Very well done. Billy's life is so interesting.
probably the best I have heard it told, great job!!
Wow, thanks!
Before I Die I MUST SEE THIS
My great great grandpa was on the trial of Billy the kid in mesilla nm. Crazy
That was great. Awesome speaker.
Thank you!
I love hearing stories about Billy, especially this one. Tim, you do a beautiful job telling it. Please tell more stories about Billy, it's exciting to see his hometown.
Hello Bob! Best $1.80 I ever spent.. Bye Bob!
What a story…and it’s all true!!
@@timroberts9017 He was true American Robin Hood..
Very nice old West history. Thank you very much for sharing this.. Long live the wild West.......
Incredible background and detail.
Great presentation!
this is awesome!!!! would definitely watch more of these old west history walk throughs showing the real location of events!! subscribed!
Thanks Joseph! We will keep posting new content for sure. Any suggestions?
@@timroberts9017 even more on location Lincoln County War stuff would be great! Tunstalls murder, Brady/Morton, Battle of Lincoln, etc!
My name is Billy and I was a kid once
Billy the Kid loved shopping at the mall.
I thought I had seen him there, and by golly he really was!
Very good history lesson. I hope to come visit and take the tour when I travel through there in the near future.
Really fascinating stories much appreciated.
Best from the UK 🇬🇧 hoping to visit one day.
Please do!
Man, when i went there in april 1992, it was almost a ghost town. No tour guides, just a lady at a museum, and the courthouse was open but deserted. I got to wander around it at my leisure. One day, I've got to go back. Love your presentations!
Thank you! Lincoln is generally a sleepy community, but depending on the time of year, it can be pretty busy. One of the things that sets Lincoln apart is that it is a place where you take your time and really soak up its history. We have some great new content in the works. We hope you enjoy it!
He sounds like congressman Jim Jordan, enjoyed this, learned a lot
I’ve always wanted to visit Lincoln, and if I do, I hope that you can give a tour as great as this one. Very well done. Thanks!
I hope so too!
Hope you make it there, but remember that the Kid was murdered/buried in the "old" Lincoln.
I've been several times to Lincoln and the last time was in 2021, and the lady that was there told us they had did testing on top of the stairs and there was a lot of blood right where bell would have gotten hit on the top of the head by Billy
I've been in that room and sat at that table it was awesome
Loved the video
Great presentation.
According to Billy, ollinger was no longer here, he always patted the shotgun and said these have 18 bucks the feller that gets these will certainly know it and according to Billy he told ollinger just make sure you aint the feller.
Brushy Bill Roberts described how the top story of the building was very accurately when he entered it with the lawyer who recorded his stories.......
Brushy Bill said he asked Bell to undo his floor lock ( he was chained to the floor ) so he could go to the outhouse. When Bell went into Garrets office to get the key Billy slipped one hand out of the cuff.... When Bell bent down to undo the lock, Billy hit him across the head with the loose part of the chain and grabbed Bells revolver.
( Bells injury report states clearly that he had cuts to the head )
He then instructed Bell to go into the armory ( he intended to lock him inside while he made his escape ) As Bell Passed the stairs he lunged down the steps....Billy claimed thas as his legs were shackled ( could only take small steps ) , he had to jump/dive and slide across the floor to get to the steps. He fired Bells gun as he slid to the top of the staircase....the bullet hit the wall and bounced off entering Bell under his arm and came out the other side.
Super fascinating and excellent vid/explanation!!! Very very much appreciated and hope you have more coming in the future. Great job!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome stuff!!! Really well done and great explanation. Much appreciated!
Thank you!
Been there, definitely worth a visit!!
Excellent tour and description of the events - the best I have seen on youtube. Hoping you will do more, especially of Ft. Sumner!
Thank you! Will do!
Great job! *
Brushey Bill!
You’re a great story teller. I’m always facilitated by Billy the kid , I’ve been to the museum in Fort sumner but I have to take a trip to Lincoln next.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job pics/maps enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Class A research project. Excellent virtual tour of the building. I had the good fortune to visit Lincoln perhaps 30 years ago. A very good investment preserving the building. It's my understanding a 9 foot tall bronze statue of the kid. Was erected a few years ago.
Thank you! We have more videos coming. The bronze sculpture, unfortunately, was never acquired due to a variety of complications.
Inteŕesting facts
Billy The Kid
it is not 18 buckshot in each barrel. there is only 9 buckshot in each shell. 18 total for both barrels!
I misspoke. Thank you for pointing that out!
Them 5 that did go to trial were Murphy Dolin Boys .
some yrs ago forensic scientist who also did work at the oj simpsom murder trial back in the 90, came and used a chemical that show blood on surfaces even though it had been cleaned up and was not easily visible to the naked eye. anyway, i got a photo that purported to show a massive amt of blood at the top of the 2nd floor stairway where bell and him tangled and bell ended up killed. i actually got the photo at this location. so what of this?
For a young lady around here you can even see these even the round things behind it now of course they changed over time but right now . Actually kind of close to him since I'm standing here and he's doing that autograph and there's Billy right there but you'd stand and then look how far down is it I think that's just me and Bob and you can see that and you can see the planks
Do what?
@@shable1436 oh hell I guess I'm going to have to password this phone off my kids got a hold of it again. That's what happens when you work nights and sleep during the day
Just an incredible video! I've been reading/researching Billy for several years now, and some of the things you state in the video were new to me---especially the ones which dispute what i believed were facts: the bullet hole at the bottom of the stairs, for example. Would you mind listing some of your sources? It would help me a great deal in my knowledge of the Kid.
We've got something very special in the works that will absolutely answer all of your questions and more. Stay tuned! You can also find us on Facebook where we will be making announcements.
@@badhossmaps Excellent! Thanks for the info.
Murphy was not a nice guy.... he was very crooked to the various ranchers and cowboys in that area. My Gr. Grand Father was a Constable Judge just not far from here....But was East of Lincoln across the Texas line at a place called Tascosa, TX.... the court House is still standing there and is now a Museum along with a cemetery. I am a gr. Grand Daughter of Marion R. Armstrong.
Well who's that
Pretty good tour guide. Sticks to the facts and do not sell too many fairy tales.
He got blamed for the killing of sheriff Brady who was little more than a Murphy henchman but Matthews was there at the time Billy hated Matthews as you said he would have been shooting at Matthews I believe but regardless Billy got blamed for all of it even though there was multiple people shooting at the sheriff. Billy was actually wounded by Matthews who was hiding behind a barrel a bullet from Matthew's ripped a gash in Billy sly
Excellent presentation ! I wonder why they don't do a re - enactment of this.
We do! Since the 1940s, locals have put on the annual Last Escape of Billy the Kid, performed at the amphitheater next door to the courthouse, the first weekend in August. Hope you can make it out sometime.
I would imagine armed townspeople kept them at bay, but you gotta know that those other 5 prisoners were sure thinking about skinning out!
⭐🤠⭐🤠
All the corruption The Kid fought, is the very same situation,we the people are fighting today, just more modern ,👍
However no mention of Bushey Bill!
The bullet hole was not pit there by billy the kid rather a promoter/ owner I believe but it wasn’t billy they will tell you that themselves
i LIKEE IT SO MUCVH i NOTICED THAT A SNAKE GETS EASILIY KILLED
I have always been interested in whether today's Americans know their European roots and what they think about being European themselves.
Because if you take an Apple tree from Italy, for example, and plant it in Japan, it will not start bearing Grapes, but will establish an Apple, the same happens with people.
My question is do you feel European or what?
Thanks.
gonna add maybe killed in fortsumner im still on the fence with that either way
I thought I knew everything about this story, sure didn't know Billy double tapped ol Bob...
you believed so but biggy was it
He wasn't killed by Pat Garrett
No, he was murdered by a coward who ambushes people in the dark. But not to worry, Garrett got killed by being ambushed by two guys riding along side of Garrett's buggy. just outside of Las Cruces in the early 1900's.
It was my great great grandfather who put a bullet between Garrett's eyes
I will agree with you on this
They all seem to have had Irish names.
Many of them were indeed Irish!
It's been said that Billy the Kid was a pervert and a deviant and probably had carnal knowledge of his horse
What everyone keeps forgetting is the real fact as to what Billy was doing and defending and fighting against!!!!!
I really enjoyed this
Very well done. Billy's life is so interesting.
Loved the video
Thank you!!
