    This was really YUMMY!!!. Enjoy our first time watching Bee Gees Too much heaven. Watch us as we try to simultaneously provide some our vocal analysis and angles you may never have considered. I found the ascending trumpet chord progression pretty exciting, voice placement and more. Rewind if you need too as things go by fast!

    I grew up listening to the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍 I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would sound like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️

    Big brother Barry Gibb and his twin younger brothers Robin (in white) and Maurice in black. They all shared leads in many songs they wrote together- over 1100- through 5 decades. Only Sir Barry Gibb , now; is still alive. With the twins passing tragically too young Maurice (Morris) at 53 in 2003 and Robin at 62 in 2012. RIP.

    Your reactions are so delightful! This is a song that many women I have known over the years like and obviously you're no exception. The depth of your response though is what I especially appreciate. You feel the music. Also, it is obvious that you have knowledge and experience in the world of music. This allows your reaction to be of a deeper sort than many other people's. And I suppose that's why I appreciate your reactions. The Bee Gees do sound great in their harmonies. I suspect this is largely because they were brothers that were raised together, spoke and learned to talk and sing together, and as such they share a common and complementary diction between them. I've noticed a number of family groups over the years that share the same sort of tonal and blending quality. Thank you so much for the excellent reaction (which you always give)! The Bee Gees’ sound evolved from pop to R&B in what became the disco music era, but it was their falsetto that was their unmistakable trademark… and it came about by accident many years into their career.
    In the HBO documentary “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” surviving Bee Gee, Barry Gibb, takes viewers inside the studio, showing archival footage performing with his brothers Maurice and Robin and honing their signature sound.
    In 1975, the band took the advice of veteran rocker Eric Clapton and went down to Miami to record their first album since the split at Criteria Studios in 1969. “I thought those guys were really an R&B band that hadn’t really worked that out yet, and I thought, man, this would be so good if they could pick up on what’s going on in America,” Clapton said.
    Also Read: The Bee Gees' Disco Classic 'Stayin' Alive' Didn't Start Out as a Dance Tune
    It was in Miami that the Bee Gees began experimenting with new sounds, piggybacking on the influence of R&B and shows like “Soul Train.” While recording “Nights on Broadway,” producer Arif Mardin asked that someone harmonize while screaming in the background, Maurice remembered. That was the first time Barry sang falsetto.
    “I was thinking, my god, where is this coming from? I can do this. My whole life I never knew I could do this,” Barry joked.
    “Everybody’s giving me credit,” Mardin said in the film. “No, he was singing it. I said, ‘Keep on doing it.'”
    The band soon embraced disco and dance music, making use of Barry’s falsetto, which he wields with almost astonishing ease. “We found another sound; we found a new sound. I came up with a lot of new ideas to suit the falsetto,” Barry remembered. “Everybody was saying the same thing: ‘Do that falsetto again, do that falsetto again.’ It was fine for me; I was having a ball.”

It was already topping charts world wide when they performed it Jan. 1979, for The United Nations Children's Fund fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated all royalties & the publishing rights to UNICEF, the 1st band to make such a donation to charity. The last official tally I saw was 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. Elsewhere someone said it hit 20 million as of 2019 (but I haven’t found an official source for that).

They couldn't read music, yet they were proliferate writers who wrote their own music as well as for many others. How'd they do it? They finished each other's sentences. They completed each other.

    Great Band of Brothers. Barry is the oldest and unfortunately the only one left with us. The youngest, Andy, passed due to cardiac arrest in the 80’s, Maurice due to surgical complications, and Robin from cancer and man was he a fighter. Barry has written more hit songs than any one artist in the history of rock/pop music. He’s an incredible talent.

      Some of the “Words” videos that others react to (especially from the One Night Only concert) cut Barry off before he’s finished. Try the live version from 1979.

    • @woodysthoughts4032
      @woodysthoughts4032 Před 3 lety +2

      Barry (the lead singer in "Too Much Heaven") does a solo for "Words." There are many videos, but in his old age, he can no longer do that last breathy vibrato at the end, so he just kind of shrugs and winks. Therefore, try one of his "Words" performances from an earlier time.

    One small note about the beegees is that they would show up in the studio on the day to record and create nearly all of there songs on the spot. The didnt prewrite many of there songs. It comes from a lifetime of creating together as brothers.

    I grew up listening to this as a 90s kid-teen . While i enjoyed "green day" like everyone else these songs gave you a feeling the current songs didn't and that's true today. Even then I envisioned dancing with a girl you liked on the disco floor. Was abit funny then now but as an adult I appreciate this music far more. While those songs where all about scoring there was something magical about these older songs. More gentleman like, more romantic. Not at all like today's music. I'm now glad my parents blasted this on the radio when I was a kid.
