  • What a day… after cruising in a really nice day (70 in Boston in Nov!)…I end up getting trouble for getting too close to a tanker abs going above 6 miles per hour in the harbor…The Harbormasters “Harbor Police Patrol” we’re very nice. But what a scare lol

      Leaving and learning … they were very nice … one year later they stoped me again where I was going really fast but in a non speed restricted area… they put the siren on again but turned out that they just wanted to know what really was what I had. Now days I see them all the time and they always say hello.

    Dude! You were def close to that tanker, but you totally cut in front of that ferry! It could be super dangerous if you fell in front of one of those. It was prolly that guy that called you in. Be careful out there man.

    In San Francisco Bay the Wingers get pretty close to tankers all the time. I'm not aware of anyone ever getting pulled over by the harbor master or coast guard. We love riding the wakes of a lot of boats.

      Tanya, trust me...Im sure you guys have a blast doing that...I seeing people doing in florida all the time...But we are taking about fracking NEW F. England...bunch of up tight, full of BS, rules and more BS...when it comes to water sports in Boston it really sucks...but the funny thing is that they don't say a thing about the tons of "Booze cruises" that throw beer bottles over board all over the harbor...that day alone I smashed 3 beer bottles on my Foil that were floating around. I should move to SanFan dude. cheers mate

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  Před 2 lety

      Well is a long story...LOL...You most register it...I just forgot with whom lol... I called the coast guard and they say that I most have a life jacket and a whistle .... once you have that no one will give you crap....I only use that if I go to a very popular area and where I know the coast guard will be around...Now if Im surfing at the beach or where there is no coast guard I don't use anything at all... However (again I can't remember witch "entity" I spoke too)...They said any "vessel" that has a motor, even electric most have a "hull number"...I explain that is was a "surf board like" and they said I still had to "register it" if it has a motor of some type...but honestly I never did...Im sure one they they will catch me and Ill just play stupid...but once again...If I'm playing where there is too many boats and where I know the coast guard will be around I always use my vest and whistle ... so that way I can give the excuse that all I knew and what I was told.. I hope this helps bud. Do you have one as well...are you getting around and having fun? let me know if you have any video up...Ill be making a "Update 1 year of fliteboarod...pros and cons and 10 tips on your fliteboarod."...keep eyes open bud.

    Sorry you got stopped by the harbor patrol but the video was one of the best at showing how you launch the flightboard. I was also happy to see how the flight board pro with 54 L of displacement had enough buoyancy to keep you partially out of the water and the nose up high enough that when you throttled down it lifted you right away to be able to quickly switch to your knees and then your feet. If you don’t mind me asking how much do you weigh?

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  Před 2 lety

      Hello Shawn...I never made any videos as how to "take off" on the fliteboarod ...but that is a good idea for me to do next summer...there are 3 ways I get up...the easier one is the laying then knee and finally up (what I did on this video was the quick version of that)...the second way and the way I do the most is the laying then "hoping up" to the standing position...then finally the "running and jumping" from the deck...that takes practice but is really cool lol...Im 5'!0" at 195 LBS... The Pro board has the perfect balance in my opinion...the Regular is too big...an the Ultra is too small and takes too long to get up...you end up waisting too much juice...I thunk the pro board is a perfect combination of both worlds. I have no intention on getting a Ultra but deff progressing on the wings down on the road. What board you wing set up you have?

    • @shawndugan8035
      @shawndugan8035 Před 2 lety

      I don’t have a board yet. I’m trying to decide from the 100 liter regular FlightBoard or the pro. I am 6 foot tall and 230 pounds and 63 years old. I’m going to buy myself a retirement present it’s going to be a flight board for sure. I think if I get the regular flight board I’m going to wish I had got the pro. It might be harder to learn how to fly the pro but much lighter and smaller and agile board.

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  Před 2 lety +1

      On that case the normal board will be better for you...The 100L will be good for you... I think you might get frustrated with the time it will take for the Pro with ht time it will take to get on the gliding speed...and that means less juice for you to enjoy it ... the more drag and time you spend with the board in the water to take off...the less juice you will have in the battery to enjoy flying it...that I the reason whey I don't want a Ultra...considering your extra 40 lbs I think the 100 L will be a good choice for you...try to call your local Fliteboarod dealer...they will be glad to let you ride and see witch one is a best fit for you before you buy it

      Man you are been more hard on me them the Harbor Police...they were very nice and just explained to me with less attitude them you... It was not a 5MPH zone where I was next to the tanker...it was off the harbor almost on open water... it was a 6mph zone where they stopped me when I was inside of the harbor...but for sure they were much nicer them you. Trust me bud, Im quite the contrary from ruining foil from for everyone trust me!!...Quite the contrary the police, fireman, and life guards always stop me to chat and we always have a nice conversations cause they still don't know what it is...I take the time to educate them and vice versa and they never complain or say anything bad...that was the only incident where I got stoped cause I got too close to the tanker...and I was politely explained the rules and law by the police and I was very polite to them as well...pay attention to the video bud....But thank you for the feed back anyways
