    Great design! We just completed building our one using these plans and made a few tweaks.
    1 - Our decking boards didn't have a gap between then as for the seat we could see little things dropping into that cavity and getting stuck and lost
    2 - Used more standard decking boards as they we more available and cheaper too. Very well built sandpit but the materials do add up to over $300
    3- Put some small hooks on the back of the seat to stop them being accidentally tipped over if / when kids try to climb them.
    4 - Stapled weed matting to the bottom of the frame to avoid gaps
    Didn't manage to get everything as neat and square but very happy we built it. Next on the DIY list is a play kitchen! If you need someone less talented to help with a video for that you know where to find me 🤣

    What's the ball park number of how much this project costs (without labour of course) if all materials are bought from Mitre 10? Great video. Thanks!

      I’ve just finished building mine here in Victoria, Australia. I had to buy a few drills bits and tools ect, so my receipt was fairly high. But for the materials only it cost me about $400-$450 for materials. (Timber, screws, hinges ect)

    What was the size of the timber you used?

    • @mitre10nz
      @mitre10nz  Před 3 lety

      Hi Garviel - The dimensions and details of the timber show is below:
      - 200x100 macrocarpa sleepers - sides x 4
      - 200x50 macrocarpa sleepers - seat supports x 2
      - 140x20 Palings x 15/1.8m
      Although, the dimensions can be up to you and the space you have in your backyard. You can also find the full instructions on our website under Easy as guides and advice. Hope this helps ^Ian

    crazy how overbuilt this is - the cost of material here will be more than already built sandbox

    • @jibcot8541

      You get what you pay for, the reason commercially available ones are cheaper are they are build of the most rubbish cheapest materials and will not last as long as this more expensive beast.
