Netflix really prefers to double down than admit they were wrong to alienate Henry Cavill who just wanted Witcher show to be faithful to the source material.

I wonder if they fired some writers, admitted failure and actually tried to weave it back on track exactly to the books, could this still work? Henry might go back and that would already improve it a lot. I stopped watching early into 2nd season but I would give it a try if they admitted they screwed it and try to fix it now.

    • @Kernwadi
      @Kernwadi Před rokem +2

I'm telling you, the real reason Walter broke bad was because he received the world's shittiest handjob which made him reconsider his entire existence. Your wife yanking around your 50 year old half chub with 10% of her attention while simultaneously borderline orgasming at selling a girthy 8,5 inch vase on eBay for 56 dollars is an experience that people in the darkest bdsm dungeons would be shivering at. I swear to god Walter Jr. is probably having a wilder sex life on the other side of the wall with his sock than these two have had in the past five years.
So when he received his cancer diagnosis the prolonged silence was not due to shock but because of pure bliss and relief because he knew that in a few years he'll likely be dead and won't have to live like that.
That's why when he received the news of remission he was so goddamn angry. And I don't know why people see the Salamanca twins as villains, they were clearly just tryna help a homie out and spare him from this existence. Oh, but why did they go after Hank then, you might ask? Well, then you clearly don't remember Hank's handjob scene from season 4, they were trying to save him from that. Really they were the true heroes of this show trying to save people from fucking miserable, dick shriveling handjobs.
And then, of course, shit starts happening, Skyler fucks Ted and Walt goes off the chain prolly thinking stuff like "bet she didn't give just a shitty handjob to Ted, oh no! My god, I wouldn't even be surprised if she agreed to do anal with him! While I've been pleading for years!". That right there's a thought progression enough to start a man crashing plants in random office buildings. And the way it can mess with your sexual thinking, Lord only knows what kind of cataclysmic insanities Walt was busting nuts to while living alone.
But then Walt has a romantic dinner with Gus, realises there's at least someone who'd probably agree to have anal with him, meanwhile Ted gets paralyzed, no more anal for him, Walt calls up Skyler "I won".
Now Walt can be smug for the entirety of season 5, he's back on top of the sex chain. So Breaking Bad is really about Walt's sexual transformation from a submissive forced-into-humiliation-kink middle aged man to a borderline sex offender to an off the rails cuck to a pure alpha male who's ascended past sex and at the end of season 5 we can see him die with bliss on his face because he's redeemed himself.

Examiner notes: It is 10:09 AM EST and pre-examination procedures are being conducted. The specimen has rinsed its rectum with a sanitizing agent in preparation for the procedure. Upon insertion of the distal phalange with sterile medical examination gloves, the specimen’s mucosa were substantially hemorrhaged from prior penetration by the examiner. Upon insertion of the middle phalange, it was noted that the specimen’s transitional zone was inflamed. Redness and swelling were observed. During insertion of the proximal phalange, the specimen performed thrusting motions and verbally communicated indications of pleasure. The specimen’s sphincter muscles were tender. Upon contact between the examiner’s distal phalange and the specimen’s prostate gland, the specimen began to experience convulsions. Upon penile penetration, the examiner noted immense friction and premature ejaculation into the specimen’s rectum.
Findings: Despite subsequent minor injuries from prior penetration by the examiner, both the examiner and the specimen indicated pleasure. It is noted that the specimen does not require resting intervals between penile penetrative activity.

It's absolutely baffling the level of incompetence & fail that Netflix has shown in handling The Witcher IP.
You have a popular fantasy IP, with enough material for several seasons.
A lead actor, who is very popular among the fans and also a massive fan of the material himself. Cavill literally busted his arse, getting ready for the part, training, reading the books & promoting season 1 like crazy during the promo-interviews.
A huge potential fanbase, who hungers for well written, fantasy.
All they had to do was: get some competent writers, give them a decent budget and let them adapt the source material PROPERLY.
Instead, netflix did what netflix always does. They hired some activist hacks, who never cared about properly adapting this source material and were more concerned with pushing their agenda.
The fact, that Cavill just said: ''I got enough of this BS, I'm outta here!'' speaks volumes!

The studios awareness of the ratio question (and they absolutely are) makes me curious ..... I'm curious because we've entered a twilight zone era in which studios are willingly (almost eagerly) producing things that they know fans are going to hate, well ahead of time. It seems like studios are happy being the person who ruins the wedding by barfing on the dance floor and knocking the bride down on the basis of: "A lot of people are talking about it". And on the same note though -- the trailer is out and being destroyed -- I doubt very much that they could meaningfully alter a season of television (in the can so to speak) in a way that would act as a constructive response.

Well, based on season 2, it follows that in season 3 a) Yennefer's storyline is massively changed (again), b) Francesca Findebair's storyline is changed, c) the Lodge's purpose has been subverted, and d) the interactions between Ciri and the Rats will be changed (actually this one could be okay). It's completely untrue to the lore, and that doesn't even get to my utter disgust at revealing who Emhyr var Emreis is before said reveal occurs in the books (I'm up to book 4 in the saga and it still hasn't been revealed).

6:10 Tom hit the nail on the head. Three seasons has always been your window for getting a fanbase, even pre-streaming days. After that, you're just making shows for the existing audience. For networks, it was fine to continue beyond this because they'd have a solid viewer-base for advertising. But for streaming services, they are based on subscriber growth for their revenue and unless they think they will *lose* subscribers by stopping the series, they don't have the financial incentive to keep the shows going. Sidebar: This is also why shows tend to drop in quality after the third season--they start making episodes designed to keep the fans around, rather than writing the best material--filling the scripts with obvious fan service (e.g., having two characters get into a romance even if it doesn't make sense from a storytelling perspective).

(I actually did really like Season 1 of the show though.) However, if I took the job, first thing I would do is sit down and read the stories and watch the games being played. I'd also read a good bit of the fan commentary to see what they liked, felt was important, didn't like, etc. Only then would I start to write and try to write in a way that would please the fans. That's respect for the fans. If I screwed up anyway, I'd be able to say honestly, "I thought you would like it because of this and this." I think the fans would be patient under those circumstances and we could always get better as ST: TNG did after the first season.

Right so, in this scenario, I would obviously know from personal experience that life in plastic is fantastic. Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume you could brush my hair and undress me literally everywhere? Imagination; you can derive from the fundamentals of basic logic that life is your creation.

Season 2 fans had hope the showrunners would address issues with Season 1.
With Season 3, there's none of that hope. If it is bad enough for Cavill to quit, I know there's going to be fans unhappy.

I am confused, I just read Henry is back for season 4 also as executive P and writers oversight. Was that fake or real? Liam and the producer is gone, the article said. Just yesterday

They simply dont care about peoples opinion, these people making these shows hate you so you your opinion of downvotes are irrelevant.
Thats why they make fluff pieces and have hundreds of articles and paid critics to shower their shows with high praise.

I am glad he no longer has to suffer through this shit show, and I hope he goes on to bigger and better things, but I am sad that his perfect role was ruined by bad writing. It's bitter sweat.

You should bring the Critical Doggo on Friday Night Tights - his take on woke dumpster fires is very honest and refreshing! (Wait, did I just misgender the Doggo? If so, it was an involuntary misgendering - not a premeditated first-degree misgendering, which is now a capital offense in California!)
