Reminded me of a university lecturer (psychology) who told us he’d once been trained by a class over a few weeks to always stand at one side of the room. When he moved in the ‘correct’ direction, they’d all look very interested; when he went ‘wrong’ they’d look down or away from him. Took him a while to figure out what was going on 😅
Love the tone in your voice. Love the way you praise the dog. I was watching another sheep herder channel the other day, and shepherd led the sheep into a handler. The dog was nipping the back legs of the last sheep, and the shepherd did nothing about it. No correction no nothing, so the dog kept biting the sheep! I know the shepherd saw it. It was outrageous. You are so much different.. You are firm and caring at the same time. You're the best.
I'm from an agglomeration, with grandparents who had had a "farm" each with hogs, and chicken, a whole flock of geese... ("farms" in Eastern Europe are very different in scale and mechanization to the West)... But we didn't have herds, and even if some of the farmfolk had working dogs, noone controlled them properly - the master needs to keep to the rules just as much as the trainee dogs, and the cottagefolk failed to do that - unlike You. So these are also new to me! Congrats with the doggos, great work!

I’m new to your channel and I’m enjoying it. I live in New York State, (not the city), it’s a farming community, but no one has sheep (cows and horses mostly, so if they do have sheep it’s only a few). It’s so important to know your animals and you do. Echo is beautiful. You did a great job. Positive reinforcement. Thank you for explaining what was going on. I appreciate knowing, and understanding what is said. I’ve watched other’s videos, but got bored, because I didn’t understand what the terms meant, or what they were doing. You did a great job explaining while keeping it interesting. I know dogs can get tunnel vision and you just had to get his mind back to you. Echo did a great job. I appreciate seeing how happy your dogs are. And a small side note thank you for not cursing. Too many videos of farming and farmers have cursing. I won’t watch them. I only follow a few channels, because these channels that I follow are men who have integrity and keep it clean. When I hear bad language I won’t subscribe. Fantastic .I dont farm but i have a 10 months old border collie .He just loves to be trained and working is in the breed .Super intelligent .My guy drops the ball in front of the other dog to rile him up to play.

Are the sheep afraid of the dogs, or are they naturally suspicious? They don’t like it when Echo gets too close. And how long did you train for this? You really are good. I'm learning, too, to recognize what the commands mean & when he does it correctly. You can really see him improve as he gets back into training. So much energy in one little dog!
😅 When your voice is gentle Echo & I hear, "You're a MAGNIFICENT sheep dog Echo!" When your tone turns hard I think dog & I both hear, "Eh Echo...Did Your Ears FALL OFF Boy?!!!?" 😂
When you got hold of the ram was it at the fence I sat admiring the beauty of it's face and had roll back for your words. Your herd is small but only for now yet the quality to my unknowing eye makes it huge! One day you'll be passing quite an impressive herd to your child and I'm aiming to live long enough to see that! 🐏💥🐑💕🤗
We have a 3 year old welsh border from working parents her 2 sisters went on to be workers but Faé is a pet but every day is training and small corrections she’s no where as trained as echo but her 30-40commands she nows are solid unless there’s a squirrel 🐿 Then all we’ve got 100% is recall
Seemed like Echo wasn't aware he was between both sheep when he was driving that one towards the end. It shows how unbelievably focused they can become... blocking out something that is paramount to their success. You were right to get him redirected again, so he was BEHIND BOTH sheep... the sooner, the better.
"Lie down!" When Echo hears that command, he says: "I know that one, Dad!" Echo's body language and long hair remind me so much of his granny, Kate. He's doing so well, Sean. Thank you for sharing yourself, Stacey, and the pups. You are all near and dear to my heart.🐾💚🐾💐

I find these videos so fascinating. It’s such a world away from my life. I did some travelling in Scotland 40 years ago and would love to go back some day soon. (Mostly to taste a wee dram of some of the local stuff 😉)
Lol after cornering him I thought aye, now how you gonna get him inside the fence? Then he just got the heave-ho and he was safely back inside! Love how the sheep snatch a snack in between movements. Obviously they are not too stressed by the training. 😊

I thought Echo was a female til you said "Good boy." When I named my Aussie/BC-my first dog-I named her Gem. My dad thought I named her Jim so I added Colleen to her name, but called her Gem the Empath because she reminded me of that alien woman on the "Star Trek" episode 'The Empath' because she 'read' our moods and health and made us feel better. She lived a little 13 years.
Sheep are so stubborn but that just amuses a collie no sheep is gonna get the best of him😂 even if he has to listen to a two- legger to enjoy life😂😂 Interesting to watch the training session

It won’t let me share the photo here, but I was going to share the pic of my 2 yr old Winston watching your video learning his Away to Me and Come By commands and importance of maintaining the distance before I take my suburbanite pup to a farm here in Ohio that lets you try out your herding dogs instincts. He deserves the opportunity. I’ve had BCs since in HS in 1980 and always extremely impressed with their intelligence, but he is the most TV indulged and obsessed one I’ve had to date. He literally hurumphed at me as I paused your video to get dessert tonight. Have to admit this is an easier approach to when I was in the field teaching my other ones the commands many long years ago, LOL! Love your videos, but have to concede that I think Winston is your biggest fan. Wish him luck as he tries it and I realize how much I’ve forgotten about running them properly! It will be fun for he and me anyway!

Sean, do the dogs ever get trained to the point where they know what to do before you say anything? Or even to the point where you can take them to a field and tell them to bring them home and they bring the flock home?

Re: your voice. My step mother is a professional vocal instructor, so when I hear the hard vowel sounds (as in “Echo” or “away”), I wonder if you are at risk for developing vocal nodes. There are exercises and other means for protecting your voice so you don’t become hoarse!!!
Now I understand why you have the trainer sheep. To keep your sheepdogs well practiced. Do you ever train other dogs or have training on site for budding shepherds? Apprentices? Just curious.
