The Renaissance began in Urbino
In April 2003 we visited several small, old cities in the southeast Tuscany. The problem there was that there were too few tourists, especially before noon, so they looked almost deserted, with few restaurants and bakeries around.
I will be driving from Florence to San Marino in a few weeks - this is very timely! I will plan to make a stop. Thank you!

Did you know that many scholars believe that the modern image of what many people use for Jesus Christ was actually modeled after portraits of Cesare Borgia? @@DramaticallyExpatic Pope Alexander IV, his father the Borgia Pope, commissioned artwork of Christ using the image of his son. All part of the propaganda to spread Borgia influence and power.
