A brand can be a character, sure. Ideally it personifies an emotion that is based on a past memory.
Kleenex is a brand that describes an entire category (facial tissues) because it’s both ubiquitous and has a strong generational emotional tie in. Same with Clorox and association with bleach.
Though truthfully, a brand doesn’t mean anything if the product sucks, isn’t worth the money, and isn’t developing its value proposition due to competition from smaller brands and substitutes. Kleenex for example is declining even though people call them the category name. Which that team will (and has) think of ways around that issue through new innovation, pricing, and packaging.
Well that’s actually what brand management is about lol. Episode was hysterical tho
