Just like thousands of others, I have been enthralled by the videos in Spiceler channel with his wonderful voiceover in urdu laced hindi! Unfortunately, his videos are so infrequent that at times I lose my patience. Therefore, a collaboration between Spiceler and Gypsy Bong is fulfillment of an item in my wish list 🙂, and I have to admit that within one session they have managed to paint a wonderful collage of the variety of food in our City. While I cannot claim that they can match Patna, Bhoothnath perhaps is the best place for tasting littis in Kolkata. Thereafter, Adi Haridas Modak serves the quintessential bengali breakfast, and just imagine that this they've been doing for more than 250 years😲 Breakfast has to be followed by lunch and what better place than the authentic Tung Nam. People who have shot at Tung Nam invariably focus on their pork dishes, which, I admit, must be great, but in this video we find the hosts introducing us to the Chicken in Hamei Sauce along with egg meifoon. This was a revelation for me, I must admit. Afternoon/early evening was for the famous "steamed chai" in Bhowanipore accompanied by juicy Paneer Tikka. Regarding Makki ki Roti with Sarson ka Saag, this is available in many restaurants across the city during our short winter season, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are serving it with a dollop of white butter which is a rarity even in Punjab these days and, would you believe it, even Gur! Nothing can be more authentic than this, I can guarantee. Finally, though I have nothing against the sharbat, since it's winter, maybe Makha Sandesh at Nakur Chandra Nundy would have been the perfect icing on the cake! To sum up, a very satisfying journey covering the vast spectrum of food variety that Kolkata offers. I am particularly glad that you have not restricted it to Bengali food, for which Spiceler can, and I really wish he will some day, come back with a series of videos at least half as elaborate as those on Varanasi.
