Kolkata is known as the Cultural Capital of India
You can't get this kind of variety of foods in any other place in India .

@@devclc7081Then may be the place from where you have ate foods , those are not so good
But it doesn't mean that every food is bad..
And the main thing is , if you see the price of the foods of kolkata, is 10 times cheaper than Delhi , even in well known restaurants also..
If you want to eat puri or kachori in kolkata, it comes 5 rs per piece
But the same food comes in delhi minimum at rs 12 or 15
That's the difference between Delhi and Kolkata
Though Kolkata is a metro city , yet the price of foods are so cheaper as compare to the other cities of India

I know many of my engineering faculty students working elsewhere come down to Kolkata even with a meagre salary, reason being the attachment. But somehow or someway, I got addicted to the smell of US$, so, can't take the chance although visit Kolkata once or twice every year. This year more than 5 months I moved around Kolkata and India for family issues but to maintain NRI status rushed back abroad. But I always miss Kolkata. Even my son in Canada misses Kolkata every single day and just waiting when he can travel next. He doesn't remember Canada train routes but sitting there he can fluently guide anyone about Indian railway routes. Really crazy.😊

Kolkata is my city although I stay abroad. Every nook and corner of Kolkata has got authentic food items available irrespective of any tag or brand. In our South Kolkata House, every junction has got something special. And the best thing you can enjoy opp. my University's arts faculty opposite ( now in news for wrong reasons but I had graduated from Engineering faculty), the lemon tea with single piece loaf toast in butter smeared with black pepper powder, it makes your day. It's locally called Bengal lamp junction. I really miss those days of early 1980s.
