    Hi, Ami!
Yesterday I spent 24 hours without using my phone. Recently I haven't had any motivation for the simplest activities, so I decided that I would spend this day taking advantage of every moment for myself. I learned that every time I sat on the bed to relax with my phone in my hand as usual, I simply didn't do anything useful, that I did it out of habit, because I was bored. Now I know that when I am bored or tired, it will be better to use this time differently. I can admit that this day will remain in my memory as one of the best days of my life. Hey great it’s great that you all found this video helpful! Thank you for sharing your perspective, especially about the parts about how her interpretation of the meaning of life has helped you. 😊My mistake is I shouldn’t have generalize my statement, I now admit it is more of a personal view.
For me, the meaning of life mentioned in this video didn’t really jive with me, cuz her interpretation of it is a form of striving, where her motivation comes from wanting to become a person of value. I used to think like that as well. I took life way too seriously and all my self worth ended up in my achievements and what value I can bring to the world.
Let’s just say I learned things the hard way and now I’m trying to take life less seriously. And I’m trying to be more mindful that I don’t need to add or bring value in order to be a person of value. It’s ok to watch tv, play video games, and scroll social media. You can enjoy these guilt free, you just need to find the right balance 😉

I've consistently been first in my class since I was six, and I'm currently in eleventh grade. Back then, I didn't study much, but this summer, I suddenly started studying every day, leading others around me to believe that I wanted to be the best at everything. The truth is that I had higher expectations. Sure, being at the top is cool, but getting the career I wanted was my main goal, and achieving that goal involved more than just studying hard. Despite spending hours studying every day, I never got tired of it; in fact, I grew accustomed to it since I enjoyed it and knew it would lead me down the road I desired. You expressed exactly how I felt. Rather than going through social media, I help my mom around the house, look after my siblings as I am the oldest, and hang out with my close friends. In order to enjoy the process and learn more every day, I believe it is vital to make sure you are doing it because you want to rather than just because you have to.

I see and partially agree by what you mean. Would like to share my thoughts as an introvert (or maybe ambivert? As I change depending on my mood and state of mind) I see her advice to recharge with people as one of the ways that worked for her. Honestly, we all need to recharge or socialize to a certain extent to maintain a healthy mindset. In my experience, even hobbies sometimes become like work, that I need to do this because I (or am supposed to) like this. That is just my personality, not so deep. So even as an introvert, depending on the people around, your own state of mind, what activities you do together, etc. parameters, socializing helps and is one of the methods recommended. It could be to simply exist with a friend who does their own thing and you do your own. You are just in the same space together. Would like to know if you have different thoughts or experiences.

I'm a Christian so I usually use the Bible to reframe things. Recently I started doing that with work and instead of a chore it became a gift I can thank God for and something I can use to bless others. Thanks to that work changed into something really meaningful and easier to do.
Great video. Have a nice day. ❤
EDIT: I see a lot of people ask me, how I reframe work using Bible verses. Bear with me, it's gonna be long.
First, I checked what I tell myself about work on a daily basis. Usually it's things like:
"I feel completely unqualified for this task",
"I'm too stressed about it to even start doing it",
"I can't focus at all, why bother trying".
Then I searched for the Bible verses to combat these thoughts and reframe how I see work. For now I mostly use:
Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me",
1 Peter 5:7: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you",
Ephesians 4:28: "Anyone [...] must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need".
Now whenever I'm about to work and my brain goes into anxiety mode again, I remind myself of the first two verses and ask God to give me everything that I need to work well, trusting that He will help me. After I finish my tasks for the day, I thank Him for His help. That way, working becomes a gift from Him, not just a chore.
And for the moments when I question why I'm even working, I remind myself of the third verse - that there are people out there who can benefit from me doing my tasks well. Maybe someone will need money from me in the future, and thanks to working hard, I will be able to help. Maybe the article I'm writing for work will be found by someone in need of it - it would be a good idea to put effort into writing it. And so on.
Of course, these are just examples based on my own struggles - your brain could be demonizing work in another way, which means you could need different Bible verses to reframe it.
    Hope that helps!

The mentality of Human Capital is something that Facebook greatly encourages. It makes everyone vain in thinking that whatever they accomplish and how others view them, is what matters in life. And that if a person does not have the accomplishments or things that impress others, that person isn't worth anything (they have low Human Capital).

Wow, this hits so close to home. As a 20-year-old who just graduated and now working full-time, my dreams don’t quite align with society’s typical path. I’m determined to become a full-time trader, and I have complete confidence in my abilities to get there. On top of that, health and fitness are huge priorities for me, which is why I wake up at 5 a.m. to run, meal prep before work, and hit the gym afterward. When people see my schedule, they often ask how I stay so motivated or keep up with it all. But to be honest, it doesn’t feel like a chore, in-fact, it excites me! I feel a passion and drive to get better every day and reach my goals. I absolutely relate to this video. That said, I make sure to spend 30 minutes every night with my partner and unwind with my family on weekends. But this is the life I love, and I say with confidence that I will eventually become a successful trader and I will compete in my first bodybuilding show in 2027. Great video, keep it up!

The last one really helped me.
I am taking summer classes online and am back home for now.
I have been having the best conversations with my older sister. We have grown as people so much and love who we are becoming.
My sister is unfortunately sick and may not have very much time left.
I know that I have school work and other responsibilities, but I will start more to give her time to just chill and have fun.
I have been using much of my free time to play video games and watch movies after doing school work, I will reduce those times drastically to make more memories with her and other family members.
Thank you so much for this video, especially for that last one, I will no longer see it as a waste of time or taking time away from school work when we have 2-3 hours convos and have it eat into video game/media time instead.

My experience with academics is a painful one. Until I was 12, my parents put in a lot of effort to push me to do well, and so I did and that motivated me to continue the streak of being the topper at everything. I did not use a phone back then, my goal in life back then was academic domination. Then, I entered high school (my school's called high school, ages 13-18, anyways) and it was basically a school for the gifted, super accelerated in STEM and I got so demotivated by the geniuses around me. My parents didn't interfere with my studies much anymore at that points. My grades went down the rut, and that lasted a year and a half until I decided enough was enough, then ended up doing really well at the end of my second year. After that, in year 3, I thought I would continue the streak of excellence I just started again. However, the fact that I was a time-waste-prone person still had not changed. I ended up performing, cohort-average-like that year. This year, I thought I was going to have my academic comeback. A semester lapsed, I actually failed my Physics exam, just passed my Math exam, and a subject I always prided myself on, English, dropped to a new new low of a B. I performed worse than expected for Biology, the subject I am most passionate about. Days after this, I fell into a cycle of extremely low self-confidence, trying to forget I was a failure, and what stood out to me the most is that the single true vision of myself that I had in my head was the one who topped every subject, and scored one of the top marks in the country, and got into the most competitive high school in the country. And lastly, made my parents the most proud. I am now at the most expensive school, and my parents do make it a point to tell me every single time about how I am wasting away their hardwork. And I understand, truly.
However, my vision now is to get back into that successful sense of self that I used to be in. That feeling of wanting to score the highest possible grades.
It's a new semester, however, I do feel that my old habits have not changed. However, I am trying so hard. I am consulting all my subject teachers weekly, and trying to put in effort to stay on top of all my academics, despite the rigour. Although it is true that I am undertaking the hardest academic curriculum possible here, the country of the smartest Asian students collapsed into one, I am going to stop making the excuse for myself that it is okay to be mediocre within that crowd.
The most important thing to remember is my potential, which I know is far above mediocre, even in this school.
So I am going to make it happen, and hopefully in 5 months, y'all will see an update to this story about my academic comeback ❤

    Hey Amy,
I am a girl who is currently in class 11.In india we actually complete high school in 10th class. I found your channel while scrolling through shorts on CZcams. There you had mentioned that you were a VALEDICTORIAN. And at that time I didn't know what valedictorian was. Then I discovered that the valedictorian is someone who comes first among all aispairents who give the exam for high school graduation from your school. And tyen I was like, 'being valedictorian is really cool' so I started studying hard and following your tips.
In midtimes I was like why amy is not being aesthetic but then one day I realized that aesthetics are there just to make us a little happier but the reality is never going to be that much aesthetic. There I realized that out of many people out here you are teaching us all the true values😊.
And my hard work finally paid off. I finally became the valedictorian. 🎉🎉 And I really want to tell you that if I didn't know about you, I would not have that amount of motivation.
This video of yours had give me alot to think about. Inspired by you I also have started my own CZcams channel just to enjoy my studies.
And to the A team. Because of y'all guys I have been doing really great in studying.

Sometimes people are also around the type of people that inadvertently discourage them (maybe it's not on purpose but the result is the same). What I found that helps me is to be brave & stay true to myself & goals regardless of what's around me; a dialogue between me & me. Guilt & shame is not the same as accountability & compassion.
I've also been prioritising relationships & communication a lot more. Even if I don't feel like I'm good at it or have a lot to offer, that's where compassion comes in. It's who I am rn & where I'm currently at. I accept that and help myself for tomorrow. Don't fall into the guilt-and-rot death loop (DON'T!!!). Even if you are alone, like me, there are ways to ground yourself.
Courage is sometimes quiet, like the roots holding a tree in the wind. It's the small tasks, the boring repetitive tasks, when you reach out to someone, even when you're finding it out on your own - the days you sit & commit your time to it. Whoever sees this, you're resilient & capable

One of the things that I learned doing this semester of college is academic coaching. And the benefit of that is phenomenal! Basically it is a way that your school is able to teach you certain things. I had some issues with my financial aid and had to do an appeal. And one of the things that my financial aid advisor told me. Another person you should absolutely speak with.. But anyways academic coaching basically is where you speak with a person who can teach you how to be a better student. If you have problems with taking notes if you have problems with procrastination if you have problems with setting up a schedule they can teach you how to do those things. I work with two women and I'm so happy that I am working with them.

  • @cookingadventuresofanabia6785

Amy, you don't know just how much this changed my mindset. Like very literally, i've heard so many people say "you need to make life meaningful" but i don't think anybody's ever put it in this particular way for me to understand. that part really made me think that our brains want us to chase instant happiness, while we should be trying to chase meaning and fulfilment. thanks a bunch.

  • @KristinaKeyesCreations

I sincerely love all of this! Mindset, I feel like, is one of the hardest things to change, but it is possible if you have the right focus! A wise church leader once said "if you want something to last forever, you treat it differently...it becomes special because you have made it so." He was referring to marriage, but I feel like it can apply to anything worthwhile in our lives! Family first though!

The best thing that helped me was starting small and eventually building discipline. Start with the easiest habit you want to convert into discipline and maybe tell yourself I'm going to do after , you get the point. Start with small habits and when you see it coming naturally to you after a few days/weeks, you will be proud of yourself and love being disciplined. It just makes life so much easier to be disciplined.
Another piece of advice is to not scroll/watch TV right after you come from the Office or school. You are in productive form after you are back, if not tired, try starting a new project or studying one topic for starters. And then treat yourself a little for doing it. This will alter your mindset and you will love doing it every day.
Also, remember to not be hard on yourself, it just makes the journey difficult. It is all about consistency. Love yourself !!

i might have just watched the best video of the year! Moving out of my family for university two years ago, I had really lost the point of life, didn't see the point in eating and all. All of this made me understand that I should find a meaning in the things I do, I had lost it (or not lost but realized there was a meaning when I lived back home but wasn't aware of that at that time) by living alone and having too much with myself. It's something I had understood and discussed with a few professors at uni. However I still struggled to clearly understand what that "meaning" was and your video finally helped me understand what areas I should insist on in the future. Thank you so much!

I think the hard bit is figuring out who or what you are meant to be. When most things don't excite you (definitely not maths or science) or when there are financial blockers to doing said activities. I spend a lot of time helping other people and I did also experience burnout doing jobs that in themselves had no meaning and just about paid for my bills - so there was not even the purpose of saving money. I love helping others and would love to work in healthcare but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills. I agree with all your points especially wasting time watching mindless entertainment. I agree that happiness is a by-product rather than the end goal. Gratitude for what you have is important, too.

i am working on my art goals rn and this helping alot to realise that my time isnt wasted, i also play games for 1-3 hours every evening but that is because i am actually trying to actively become a twitch streamer and i enjoy it and like learning new things about the game i like, i think its fine to do that if its something you are actually trying to get better at and improve in, but if you dont wanna do anything that has to do with video games it can suck your time away for sure, i have been addicted to games before and its not fun at all

It's so refreshing to hear someone talk about work-life balance and finding meaning in what we do. I'm a Filipino virtual assistant, and I'm always looking for ways to stay motivated and make a real difference. It seems like you're all about creating a positive and supportive environment for your team. I love that! What are some things you do to build a strong sense of community among your VAs?

Happiness doesn't come from chasing it. It comes from meaning (it comes from serving something beyond you and bettering yourself)
work is something you do knowing you can achieve it. what you're working towards is part of your destiny and you are capable of putting in the efforts to achieve it.
distracting yourself through screens is you stealing yourself away from making great memories
scrolling is giving away control of what you want to see to some algorithm that won't show you what you'd want to see
treat your life like a video game
don't take time you spend with your loved ones for granted. spending time with people who matter will help you put things in perspective

This is honestly the most practical and paradigm shifting approach to go about managing my life (as a college student hoping to graduate with a first class honours). I am so glad to have come across this channel cause I relate to Amy’s mindset and fits perfectly with where I want to go. Back in my high school days I was one of the top students that graduated with straight As and was always at the top. Though I didn’t get to be the top by being naturally “smart” or anything but through my hard work, commitment and my work ethic that I consistently built as I went. This is just what I needed to hear to sharpen my saw and get in to flow of working towards my goals of achieving the best possible outcome from my college experience and reach my long term goals. This is much needed advice, thanks a lot Amy!

Solid advice, thank you! It's always valuable to see what successful peoples' systems are like, so I can see where my own systems can be improved.
I like the last tip a lot; it has definitely been my experience that doing things for others is massively more motivating and rewarding than doing them for yourself. I would point out, though, that not everyone finds social experiences to be "recharging". That's certainly true of extroverts, but introverts can actually find social interactions to be exhausting, and their version of "recharging" actually involves getting in some alone time.
    Just my $0.02! Thanks again!

    Hey Amy,
The first video I watched on your channel was "If you are 18-24 years old, please watch this video". Initially, I was skeptical of your title and thought it was just another clickbait video but decided to suspend my judgement. And boy am I glad I did that. You have a treasure trove of wisdom and life experience, AND you are willing to share it with the world (not many who are so talented are able or willing to do such a thing). I truly respect your achievements and your outlook of life, and wish to do the same with mine.
I'm about to matriculate into my first year of University and I've always felt I could do more with my student life (personal issues held me back when I was in Junior College). Seeing how you reframe certain thought processes and encourage your audience to do the same really resonated with me.
I do think I have it in me to be the valedictorian (perhaps a bit presumptuous but hey, that's my opinion), but I'm still not fully convinced yet. I'll be reflecting more on my goals in Uni and just wanted to let you know that you are the big portion of my source of inspiration!

I have just read a book about people living in the "blue zone" of okinawa. So basically people who live the longest.
The books title is "ikigai" which is a concept of living. Basically you broke it down, summarised it and by reframing things also used that concept right away.
I can highly recommend that book. It is wholesome to read. And it gives a glimpse of peoples lives that follow this concept. They don't do it on purpose. They do it because they love it and you can truly feel that. ❤

I only just recently started acting on my "dreams" and my drive and focus has been there but i hadn't felt too much excitement. I found that just by having not even a call but a short text with my mom every morning before I started my day. Relieved me of so much of the stress, the burn out, the disbelief honestly. My mom is my world ❤ And even when it's not a long time, any time with her is a true eye opener and a reset

This is a great and truly eye opening video it also links to religion and why many religious people are successful because they have purpose and meaning in life and feel as though they are “belonging and serving to something beyond themselves” which is why they are often content with themselves and others. It truly is mind blowing and we don’t understand the potential that we have hidden away. Thanks Amy love u♥️♥️♥️

Right after my 10th grade (where I went from not studying to continous studying for the boards, it was tedious) I had the vacations in which I was just trying to check things off my wish list and find a way to actually incorporate studying, workout and hobbies into my daily life without burning out. Not that I've ever burned out but after seeing my friend go through that I'm just trying to find ideas and habits to implement into my life that make me want to work and not just rely on motivation (like omg I'll get a happy moment if I do this n all) I found the problem and now I'm just developing a solution and honestly I think I've kind of found it and your video just confirms my suspicions. I've been way more productive now that I've realised this exact mindset of oh ur not just working and in pain but you know this lifestyle is also something you should enjoy, the hot shower baths, the rain, how damn lucky I am to have such good friends etc.

I am si happy that a video like this exists. I was trying to have a productive conversation with my friend and her response sounds alot like the comment at the beginning of the video. She told me i she act like a regular teenage and spend my allowance money on other things than advice books and a new hobbies. The girl said quote on quote "why do you have so many hobbies, just be normal and enjoy life." I sent her the link to this video hoping she will see that investing my time energy and money in educating and developing myself to my best best version is how I enjoy life. Like think of all the memories You made from just going outside
