Hello my dear friends.
I am happy to share a new restoration story with you. Our guest in this story is an antique bit type hand drill and his friend spade bit. These hand drills have a very important place in traditional woodworking and have been used for centuries. I also love using this type of classic hand tools. For this reason, I decided to bring this friend back to his old condition. As always, I kept functionality on top. Of course, I also gave metal and wood a silky touch.
This work said goodbye to winter. Spring months will be full of new works. Sometimes we will meet new friends and restore them, sometimes we will produce something new.
I am very happy to work and present something to you, I hope you will share this pleasure with me while watching. I have made some changes in the video equipment in order to offer you more beautiful works. For this reason, it was a little late for me to publish this video, but I was very pleased with the result. It was a very detailed and beautiful shot. Below I am sharing links to details about my new Fujifilm camera and lens.
I worked very hard in this restoration and gave all my effort. I am very pleased with the result and this old friend of ours is working great now and the spade bit is as sharp as a razor. If you have any questions about technical issues, please write, I will be happy to answer.

A hand tool that has been used for decades, and has been respectfully restored to its former glory. A tribute to the manufacturer of the tool and the workers who have worked with it all these years. Dents, scratches, repairs and the ravages of time reflect the eventful history of this hand drill, which is now worthy to be a museum piece thanks to your patience and craftsmanship.

Realy like the attention you put into the head and handle on this brace and bit set. Many would have re-turned the parts a lost the 'feel'. I have a brace and a half-dozen bits from my great grandfather. I won't restore it for just that reason. I want to keep the feel the way it was when he had it. All I have done is clean and nourish the wood. Thank you for this video. 🏆

I suppose this hand drill is shown doing its work in later videos you posted? It grabbed my attention when you used it: there are tasks where you need a more delicate tool, and you want to have much more control than electric (so powerful) ones make it impossible. I love old tools - I have a few myself, that I want to restore soon - so it was pure joy to watch this.

Old Gunsmith trick:
if you have wood with little dents, dents and scratches, get it wet, really wet, then put a cloth on it and go with a hot iron it over it. the water swells up the bumps, the iron dries them..... helps great. This is how I repair old gun stocks.

I really appreciate it, that you saved the wooden parts and did not just replace them like they do in most of the other restoration channels!
A little suggestion: Hide glue also works fine with saw dust and would be more appropriate for these old parts.

Peter thank you very much, i'm so glad you like and thank you for your thoughts. i don't prefer to use the hide glue because of a personal point. Hide glue is based on animal bones and gelatine. I'm a vegetarian and do not eat any kind of an animal including from the sea. I could not find a synthetic hide glue so far. if i can find i will use. great to see you here 🌟🗜️⚒️🐾

Старый инструмент - часть материальной культуры человечества, ведь это с его помощью произведены восхищающие всех шедевры.
Коловорот вышел и красив, и функционален, и с "родным" сверлом - сейчас бери и сверли.
В отличие от станка с его бешеной скоростью и производительностью сверление коловоротом предполагает определенную степень владения ручным инструментом.
Я признаю электроинструмент необходимым и классным помощником, но в то же время говорю себе - предпочтешь ли музыкальный инструмент, сделанный на 3D-принтере работам Страдивари?!...
Предмет, помнящий старого мастера, вернулся из забвения, из небытия благодаря искусству нового мастера, молодого. Восстановление всех частей инструмента, особенно деревянных, вызывает искреннее уважение.
Видео нравится своей манерой неторопливого, доверительного рассказа.
И кофейная кружка, и вид из окна, и все виды этой мастерской алхимика, художника - все радует глаз.
