Swedish buss caught on fire - Västtrafik

- I was on the Västtrafik bus no.99 to Frölunda Torg when suddenly the smell of burnt rubber filled the bus. Seconds later the bussdriver stopped outside the tunnel and told us all to get out. None of the passengers got injured but after we left we heard the bus EXPLODED (???!) and a firefighter got hurt.
Smart driver,drove the bus out of the tunnel an then stopped.
Swedish firefighters kick ass! Good job, guys. Be safe.

Still a small tunnel and no heavy traffic. The black smoke didnt start until we all left the bus, but if it would have been in the tunnel we probably would be in a bad situation.

Full marks to the bus driver for sang froid, if that's him at 0:25, coolly standing there texting someone. Though it might have been sensible to be standing not quite so near. Particularly if it's one of those gas powered ones.
Totally, he did the right thing too. Some women were yelling on him to stop in panic but If he would have maybe the bus would catch fire inside the tunnel and ... we wouldn't be here today. Total random hero.

And a translation of the tunnelname "Gnistängstunneln" in english that is like, "Spark field tunnel" where Spark is like a "ignition" and thats kinda spooky for the situation here exactly where he stopped the bus

Actually we don't really know how long the bus was burning before and video was recorded.
I will say this, pretty cool looking bus.
Im no bus connoisseur but yeah, they are modern and spacious. Only problem is the spontanious "catching on fire" for me.

Skulle gärna vilja veta! Det framgick aldrig. Läste lite om det i nyheterna men fick aldrig klarhet i vad det var. Tyvärr så skadades 2 brandmän i denna olycka 10 min efter vi åkt därifrån eftersom bussen EXPLODERADE. Jag hoppas innerligt att någon undersöker i om detta är "vanligt" bland gasbussar....
När man satt inne i bussen så såg vi först rök komma från taket på insidan. Precis när chauffören stannade till så hade plasten i taket börjat "bubbla" sig, så det brann redan på insidan av taket.
En kabel till en takfläkt kortslöts. Anledningen till att en gastank exploderade tros vara att nödventilerna på sidan oavsiktligt kyldes ned av släckningen och inte öppnades för att släppa ut trycket. Pga värmdes den upp till den small. Så här ska det fungera czcams.com/video/CX8RUR-WgAY/video.html

Det var antagligen något fel i elsystemet. Vad jag minns började branden i taket längst bak i bussen. Plasten på insidan började "bubbla", du vet sådär när den smälter.

It was a gas powered bus (CNG) with an electrical error. Since the accident, improvements regarding safety is said to have been done on the gas bus fleet of Gothenburg.

Varför parkerar brandbilen så långt från bussen??
Jag tror det är pga explotionsrisk? Det är inte ofta det händer (som i film), men de har nog säkerhetsavstånd från bilar. Bussen exploderade faktiskt senare när vi åkt från platsen.
Blir bussen övertänd kan strålningsvärmen göra att branden sprider sig. Man vill ju inte elda brandbilen också….
If this happened in the UK, the Highways Officers and Traffic Police would shout down the carriageway and cause long tail backs and chaos.
Police was slower than the firedept. Actually a few hours later (when they had put the fire out) the bus exploded. Leaving one fireman injured.

Nu var det några år sedan - 2016 hände det. Fortfarande har ingen på Västtrafik kommenterat. Jag tror bara det är en tidsfråga innan det händer igen med dessa bussarna. Jag säger inte att gasbussar i sig är fel, men de kanske borde kolla designen på denna.
