This is actually pretty accurate. When I'm hopeful for something, I'll build up a mental image in my mind and hang on to it for so long that when it isn't exactly how I'd mentally planned it, it crushes me.

@@f.s-9798 Thanks for your concern. I am doing quite ok. The trick was to think about things that you would hate to achieve and thus decreasing the chaces that these things happen... You have to convince the universe that you mean it though. Thats the hard part, but other than that quite simple.

I think it depends on the person because when i visualize my dream job and think about the happiness i will feel on that day it gives me the motivation to work more hard and to not stop until it is achieved
Yea it makes you feel happy and motivated at that moment, I think it's like that for everybody. But when an obstacle comes, or something that makes it harder to achieve comes along, then it becomes more discouraging. I think that's what the video was trying to say.

This actually makes a lot of sense, it's kinda like a hiking trip, you know where you are going but you need to see the way to get there, thanks for that insight
I believe it's really both. Knowing where you want to be does certainly move you closer. Knowing what it takes to do it and being willing to do what it takes is obviously exactly as vital. But knowing what you want will help show you the way that future looks. From that image you can infer the process: What do you do every day as you live this dream life? Who do you spend time with? How do you spend your time?
I think this is also helpful because when you start getting honest about the type of life you want in general, it will help you understand in advance (or in the moment) what difficulties you're willing to face in order to make it happen. This is directly correlated to the value you perceive in that imagined future.
Having an aim is wonderful. Allowing your aim to adjust as you walk that path and infer your future is equally wonderful.

That’s counterproductive for optimists though if they believe that things can get better. You can understand how the world is AND how it can improve by believing things can work out in the end. I’d rather be happy and have hope in tough times than be “right” 🤷🏽♀️ Once I chose that mindset things actually did get better. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. You believe something good will happen so you are more likely to take steps towards making it so. It’s hard to unlearn pessimism especially coming from a tough background but it takes SO much mental stress off your mind than worrying and being negative.

Makes sense because this is exactly what I ve been telling my parents. They keep saying be positive you are not positive enough about the future. I say I rather think about what obstacles I might run into and prepare to overcome them from now.
