Glad to see such footage being preserved! Never had a chance to see a relais-based signal box from the inside, so this is an interesting insight. It's a little bit unfortunate that the video footage quality is rather bad, but at least it may now survive times in digital format.
For people outside the UK when any InterCity train leaves a station (4:12) they play "go faster" music over the station public address system. The music adds around 20mph (that's about 100kph) to the trains speed. Local trains leave with classic music which reflects the actual speed.
I have one of these old electo-mechanical brains and sometimes a relay sticks. I find a self administered thump on the side of my head usually gets things working again.
l worked on the National railways of Zimbabwe Signals branch and its so funny how they give cold shoulders to anything to do with signalling. Signalling surely is computerising as Bob Manning is showing on his clip and surely if ever large traffic volumes are to be moved, there must be safety in place first and this is not without Signalling.

I know this comment is 6 years old, but I’d love to hear more about railway operations in Zimbabwe.
