So almost four years after The Last of Us 2 and its ending we got some confirmation that we will one day be getting a Tommy Spinoff Story in either a game or TV Show covering his events after The Last of Us Part 2! Neil said “It was always a small story. It was never like a full title. I still believe one day it’ll see the light of day. I don’t know whether it’ll be a game or a show. TBD.” The Last of Us Part 3 is coming from Naughty Dog as Neil Druckmann creator of The Last of Us confirmed in the Grounded II Documentary that there’s one more chapter to the story of The Last of Us which will be The Last of Us Part 3! "The Last of Us 3" will likely have the return of Abby and Ellie. The Last of Us 2 ending clearly to me sets up The Last of Us Part III the sequel. Could we see a NEW Playable Character in a new Last of Us Game? What could this mean for the story of The Last of Us Part III and The Last of Us Universe from PlayStation and Sony let's discuss! 2000 Likes?

I think there’s definitely an interesting story there that could explain some of the history that was referenced in terms of Joel and Tommy. It’s kind of low hanging fruit though from a narrative perspective, and I expect they’ll stay away from the typical prequel territory that feels rather redundant or expected at this point.
I would like to see a small section of Part III where Tommy is playable. It might make more sense for Tommy to have a flashback during his days surviving with Joel. Fans want to see Joel again, this would be a respectful way of doing it.
I reckon Tommy will be as prominent as he’s ever been in part 3 cause he needs to amend his relationships with Ellie, Dina and Maria too. He also provides a connection to Joel cause I doubt there would be nearly as many flashbacks and dreams as there was in part 2
This is actually a great idea. The hate for part 2 is insanely ridiculous and unwarranted but putting Tommy in the mix as the only one who hasn’t let Joel’s death go and having him playable would be brilliant.

The hate for part 2 is extremely understandable they butchered all the male characters Joel got beat to death by abbzilla, Jessie gets shot like a random NPC and Tommy could have successfully disarmed Abbyzilla if the trans kid wasn’t behind Tommy with the bow like the lil puss it is.
Tommy eventually recovering his mobility and learning to shoot left-handed could be a thing if you ask me.
I've wanted a Joel and Tommy game since I finished the 1st game yrs ago. I don't want him all crippled, I don't want him in Seattle I want the game to start hrs after Joel's daughter was killed. There's 20 yrs of bad ass stories that can be told. Half game as Joel half game as Tommy. Meeting Tess and Marlene. Fucking endless possibilities

If we were to see a DLC/Spin-off, I'd hope for his 3 days in Seattle with flashbacks one of these: his firefly days, his trip back to Texas, or to his patrols in Jackson with Joel.
I'd definitely want to see his firefly days or trip to Texas as it's a grey area in the story I'd love to learn more about.
A lot of people have been suggesting his days as a hunter with Joel, but with the element of ambiguity to what horrors they've done, I think it be best to keep it a mystery.
Hell yeah, that would be great. Don't forget flashbacks to the early days of the outbreak, how him and Joel survived 2 whole decades, the things they did that were briefly mentioned.
@@john4K47 Yeah, I've heard quite a few people mention wanting the 20 years with Tommy + Joel being hunters. Although I like the way it current is though with not much description of what they did since they murdered innocent people. I like the dark, mysterious and unknown element that period has.

At the end of the game, we witnessed a flashback of Ellie and Joel. In that scene, Ellie reveals her willingness to forgive Joel for not leaving her alone in the hospital. This suggests that Ellie might also be interested in forgiving Abby, regardless of their previous conflicts. Perhaps both of them can set aside their differences and work together against a bigger threat?

The Rattlers section felt like a tagged on after thought in the main game.
Maybe the original intention was for Ellie to live happily on the farm while Tommy went after Abbey in. DLC, fighting the Rattlers on the way? Who knows.
I’m not entirely sure about the order in which this would happen but Left Behind was a DLC and that DLC had its own featured episode in the HBO show. Possibly we have something similar happen for Tommy where it appears in the show and they reverse adapt it as a playable DLC or this story gets woven into TLOU Part 3.
A Tommy DLC would be sweet we could learn about his days in Seattle, the full extent of His fallout with Joel, the 20 year time jump etc. There’s so much they can do with his story

A part in the show or a spin off would be cool but I think theres a big opportunity to do the same thing they did in the first game, make a dlc. They could make a dlc like the dlc they did before where they show what he did to get to the marina and maybe something about what happened after ellie left her guitar in the old home, two little stories mixed in together to see more of tommys character.
We had metal gear solid 4 and the mechanics playing old snake could be integrated, put him a nice patch, and he's ready to kick asses, while remembering the days where Tommy and Joel had to do bad things.
I can imagine the Tommy DLC working like this, the same Formula as the Left Behind DLC. The present day where Tommy can’t walk and is blind in one eye. No combat sequences but just for story telling. The past with Joel and Tommy (Tommy being main playable character) and Tommy’s seattle days, maybe the lead to Leah’s death and a battle with the seraphites, and get to see who was hung in the theatre as Tommy.. both past timelines will have the Combat sequences but it flash backs & transitions between. The same as Left Behind.
Maybe they could do a game that is similar to left behind where you have the flashbacks with no combat, and then the present part with combat.
But for Tommy, it would be the opposite where the present would be no combat just story Then flashbacks with combat or with Joel before part 1
I’ve had the same idea as many people over the years of a game starring Tommy during the 20 years after the outbreak with Joel. I can’t picture what they would do for gameplay if we were with a post-part 2 Tommy. He clearly changes alot between time jumps at the end of part 2 which is very interesting, but at the end of the day it is the Last of Us; There needs to be a reason to run around shooting zombies and people and Tommy def cant do that anymore.
We need a part 3. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Tommy in a spin off story or dlc. Why not! We need a game. Is it coming soon or what! Naughty dog playing games!
I hope the DLC is Tommy's story going after Abby's group leading up to his last scene with Ellie in part 2, hopefully a story that shows how Ellie comes back to Tommy in Jackson. To be honest though, I wish there was a way to bring back Joel...

I honestly think the should make the next one a spin off or following a whole new cast in the same universe that had connection to people we know kinda how Life is Strange does it. Part 1 and Part 2 are very well told stories that go well back to back. Same for the covers or custom steelbooks i love the ps5 artwork of Ellie with Joel or Ellie with Abby Its bittersweet but feel like a proper 2 part story. They been on last of us for a decade now. Im glad we have part 2 remaster but we need this franchise to end

A game that is mainly flashbacks to his life choices and following Joel for so long, walking away and finding something beautiful (a life with Maria), fucking all that up over his failed attempt at revenge on Abby and now having nothing.
I wish they could have at least made a new version of the original Factions gamemode on part II but add Wolfs/WLF, Scars/Seraphites and Rattlers or just redo the first version exactly the same just with better graphics and all the settings from Part II, at least could have done that smh

You know when the remaster came out for the PS5, I thought that Naughty Dog could make a Tommy DLC of his side of the story when he set off to Seattle before Ellie, Dina and Jesse came right in. I mean Tommy has the bad ass rifle than Ellie's bolt action ass rifle.

The world of the Cordyceps pandemic is a character unto itself. In that light the stories which could be told in that universe are infinite. Stories involving characters we know and those we have yet to meet.
Real talk
It doesn’t feel at this point they’ve established Tommy’s character enough in the series. I don’t see people who haven’t experienced the games to feel any connection to the character or have any interest (yet) in following an arc that revolves around him. It makes more sense to see this story explored in a game. Maybe a back and forth between new characters and Tommy, much like the second game did with Ellie and Abby. I don’t see why telling his story now has any relevance going forward. It could be interesting to get that perspective, but it’s not entirely necessary either way.

Okay, stop. Stop all the complainers saying a blind person who cannot walk properly shouldn't have protagonist in this saga. Absolutely no. In The Walking Dead comics Rick Grimes loses an arm and keeps being the badass he always has been, also, his son, Carl, loses an eye and becomes a better survivor. You can't tell me, Tommy would not be able to keep fighting after being shot in the leg and losing eyesight from one of his eyes (was it the left? I don't remember). He is a soldier, he anticipates things, he would be a hell of a fighter in the game.

A new DLC with Tommy should be a game. Or if not a game and it's made for HBO, then - Can we go back in time and do a DLC for TLOU Part 1? One last LONG DLC with Joel and Ellie? They and some of the towns people going against the Wolves one last time? A five hour DLC so we can see Joel and Ellie together one last time?? You know that that DLC would be the most played DLC of all time. How about do both DLCs?

Druckman clearly says that spin-off takes place after part 2 starring Tommy so it probably involves him doing combat and maybe he recovered from his limping but is still blind in 1 eye.

I don't think a tommy spin-off would be that interesting. There are so many other stories that would be much more interesting. I like Tommy's character but not as being the focus on him. I want part 3 to be about Abby en Ellie (with their sidekicks and hopefully Ellie and Abby coming together some sort of way to fight a common enemy and find the cure.)

Honestly Neil just destroyed the Last of us 2 with horrible writing technique. Drukmann was the Co-director on last of us 1 with Bruce Straley, the reason why last of us 1 turned out amazing was because Bruce rejected many of Neils’s ideas which he (Neil Drukmann) later on used in Last of us 2 when he became the sole director and had full creative control, we all know how those “ideas” turned out. So I truly hope that this Tommy Spin-off does the whole Franchise or atleast the character of Tommy justice

Exactly and it’s like we can’t even express our opinion on the dog 💩story the last of us 2 was because a bunch of liberal feminists are going to come after us saying you just don’t understand the story🤓. Tommy should have been the main playable character whoever decided it was a good idea to shoot Jessie like a random NPC then proceed to shoot Tommy needs to be fired from naughty dog, I guarantee if this story was about Tommy going on a revenge journey for Joel and Ellie being playable a lil bit too this game would have been so much more enjoyable.
