    TheBuffNerds, in this segmented part of your HOW TO RUN AND OPERATE YOUR OWN BUSINESS video, you've answered the aged old question:
    Why do you charge so much for the work you do?
    For example:
    You only make, or you only do (fill in the blank). I can do that. They'll claim. As if what was accomplished by you was done effortlessly and with the greatest of ease.
    Truth of the matter is they can, but will they?
    I am so excited to jump into a business venture (real estate photography) and to have something that is tangible and is my very own and along the way it's the people like you who work behind the scenes that deserves much of the acclaim!

You've started out like that and worked on bigger things as well, so how do you determine it? Love these videos and the helpful nuggets of info you're bringing to us all!!

      For me personally I would say immediately. I work near somebody who pays his crew per hour just barely over minimum wage but I believe people should be paid what they are worth so I pay them their day rate. So currently I only have 1 person helping me but he is about the best person I could have helping me. I can only afford him but his help is much more worth it to me than having 5 people that I’m paying super cheap for. But as soon as I have a budget to pay more people what they are worth then I will bring more people on. Hope it helps!

  • @UweDreiss
    @UweDreiss Před rokem

    Excel or Google Sheet templates for invoicing are a quick and easy way to get started. I definitely recommend any freelancer or business owner to get started that way. Plenty of free templates available online or you can simply follow some video tutorials such as yours. However, once you hit about 3-5 invoices per month, I'd change to use an online invoicing tool such as InvoiceBerry as it is faster and also allows you to take online payments from your clients. Then probably at the 100-150 invoices per month mark (not really relevant to most freelancers), I'd pick a fully-fledged accounting package with a payroll, etc. for team members.

    • @alayejon
      @alayejon Před 3 lety +5

      If you choose to, you can charge separately for raw footage. In my experience with clients, the few that ask for raw footage either want to archive it for future reference or for future modifications.
      You can choose not to charge for it but I usually let clients know it comes at an extra cost.
      I have archives of every single project I have ever worked on because some clients comeback for tweaks down the line or requests for portions that didn't make the cut during edit and its important to have it handy.
      For that I usually charge separately as well and every client of mine eventually paid gladly with accolades too because they're shocked I archived the raw footage to begin with.

    • @LeponicStudios
      @LeponicStudios Před 3 lety +1

      I keep all footage for 4 weeks after completion of the project before deleting to make space and the client has those 4 weeks to ask for the footage

    • @peteydyer
      @peteydyer Před 3 lety +2

      You can add this as a section in the contract under pricing. Ie: “raw footage is available for purchase at $x per clip or at x% of total project”. By having the pricing stated ahead of time you’re allowing for a smoother transaction.
