- Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) is one of the wonders of Colombia and South America and one of South America's most popular trekking destinations. The trek is 44 km/27 mi round trip, and takes 4 days to complete. The hike is strenuous because of the heat, humidity, mud, bugs, and steep ascents and descents.
Ciudad Perdida (Known locally by its indigenous name of Teyuna) has been founded around 800 CE, and abandoned after the Spanish colonization. Rediscovered in the 1970s, and up to today only small part of the area has been uncovered. Located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains (declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO).

I did the same trek in Aug 2022 and I had an phenomenal time. I still have yet to edit the footage I took. I loved Colombia so much I plan to go back in September. I wonder what the Drone requirements are for Ciudad Perdida in 2023?

It occurred to me while watching this that there is a good reason why these are abandoned. Perhaps the natives that built these labor intensive rock cities and temples figured that the effort wasn't worth it due to invasion, warring neighboring tribes, and resources consumed. I'd imagine after the invasion by the Spaniards tribes decided it best to stick to building with palm frond thatching. They never knew when another invasion might happen, domestic or from abroad.
Ciudad Perdida is a natural national park and the descendant communities still live in isolation, protected by the environmental laws of the Colombian government.

I believe this theory. I don’t believe human history is as linear as we are taught. I don’t believe that our ancient ruins throughout the world were built with sticks and stones. Our ancestors had discovered technology I believe. Just my opinion of course

The jungle is amazing to behold. This is a well traveled trail, I wonder what the back country looks like.
What's missing for the viewer are the smells of the wood and vegetation, the humidity, the sounds of the birds and animals. Only a reflection of what the journey and place were like.
Checking a map online, no roads in the area. 20 miles (32 km) to the nearest small towns through mountainous terrain. How long was the hike?
The hike is usually done in 4 days, you start around noon on the first and finish around noon on the fourth

I have seen the odd photo of this site but never knew much about it, a pleasure to see some high quality video of this site. 44km in rainforest sounds like a ton of fun and it certainly would keep you fit. Interesting that you have used footage from the Osmo pocket, I have recently been looking at one as the results look good.
yes, Osmo pocket is good when you move, my large cam was never able to catch motion even with added stabilization, but on the fast hike you lose time to stop filming, with Osmo you just continue walking :)

Milosh, you are an exceptional and gifted photographer, you chose beutiful sites. Do you use drones in some of the footage? Also who is funding all your trips, they must be very expensive! Lastly, you are one lucky dude to see all these beutiful places in person.
Thanks, glad you enjoy my eork! I do not use drones yet, one of the reasons being drones are not permitted at many of the greatest locations you can visit. Regarding my trips, they are not rxpensive, I travel at low budget, more about that I erote recently on my erbsite, the About page. All the best 😊
