Why was this posted 1 year ago but your comment was posted yesterday? 😂 Also I think the cast master is the best since the light reflection from the sun to the lure
In my book ive got 2. And the're the only ones in my box.The 1" super duper in gold and red and the original Goldfish.Ive Been taking Maine brookies with for decades.
Had good luck with yellow w/silver spinner Panther Martin. And blue/white spotted cleo in local lake where my parents have property with Yurt.
Thomas buoyant anyone?
It took me longer than I would have liked but I finally figured out how to fish it and landed a 16 inch trout on a gold kastmaster today and it was pouring rain!! It was awesome!
Nice, haha I caught a 16, 17 incher today
I live in Western Pa. Back in the early 70's i found out about Rooster Tails Lures. No bait stores had them here. I had to send away for them from the upper west coast area. I caught a ton of Trout and also Crappies and Smallmouths and Large Mouths. I just started to use Kastmasters a few years ago. I like them too now. I think both the Rooster Tails and the Kastmaster are tied. When one is not catching any Trout i switch. I am 72 and believe me over my lifetime i have got thousands of trout. You cannot go wrong with those two lures. Thanks for posting your video.
In Eastern Oregon and Washington Rooster Tails are the go too. Smallmouth as well as trout. The Powder River, below the Phillips Reservoir Dam, was great in the '70s, probably into the 80sThe stock there were fish that washed through the dam, so were bigger than the fish in the Reservoir, which was known for having big fish. Caught many 14 to 20 inch fish below the dam, all on Rooster tails. And, further down river, where the highway crosses the Powder on the way to the Snake River Canyon, the one Evil Knievel tried to jump, we caught many smallmouth bass.
Thank you for your wisdom. Stay blessed and many years of happy fishing
Panther Martin spinners.... small sizes Ofcourse my fav patterns: black with yellow spots... yellow with pink spots.. and my favourite holographic trout....
Black with gold blade Panther Martin is my all time favorite
Absolutely. I've caught trout from Alaska to California on them.
Great lure but in streams and rivers I like the Panther Martin brown trout lure.
I remember camping as a little kid on the trinity river. I found a rainbow colored panther Martin and caught my limit that day
That's my 2nd favorite ...Williams wobbler is my favorite trout catcher ..never fails me
Can’t wait to get one!!!
Thank you guys for this channel! Been learning all sorts of different methods! Love it. Subscribed.
I caught a 2lb 13oz 19" trout tonight on a 1/4oz gold kastmaster. That was my one and only bite all evening, and it was worth it! Your guys videos helped me clean it and filet it. GREAT channel.
I totally agree about the Cast Master. It has produced for me when nothing else has. Can't wait to try it with the pink worm.
I've seriously caught 50 times more trout off a panther martin than a kastmaster.
Im the opposite. Pm is the definitive second though
I've used the three kastmaster lots of times and have only caught a few fish. I've caught thousands of trout wire the inline spinner, and a good portion of those on a panther Martin. But I'll say that I don't fish over 8lbs line when fishing trout. When guy says he is using 10lbs and that's light, it blew my noggin, but in my local the biggest regular trout are up to 7 pounds. But big Lakers and Splake are things.
@@hadleytorres8171 Yes totally agree
@@hadleytorres817110 lb braid is comparable to 4lb mono for width
Sølvkroken Spesial spinner 9g GFL is the best spinner.
Really appreciate the shore fishing and the great tips! Thank you.
This video was damn near perfect! Great content Marlin.
Love all u guys videos keep it up I’m learning a lots from it ,also it so fun fishing for trout:)))
Kastmaster in metallic perch is my #1 producer and my go to for trout.
mepps spinner
Yup
1/8 to 1/4 ounce black rooster tail is my all time favorite.
Jody Basham I like the small roostertails. Favorite is small plastic worm with small spinner
Steelhead like black rooster tails too
My grandpa's as well I'm 51 now but when I was young grandpa loved the black rooster tail
1/8 oz white Rooster Tail. Catches everything
Rooster tail 100%
Do you remember when the Rooster Tails had that propeller spinner? These worked like magic on native brook trout in upstate Pennsylvania circa 1970-1977 or so. After that I switched to Panther Martin #0, #1 and #2 almost exclusively.
In 1973 after I had introduced my friends to small, cold-running trout stream fishing we were somewhat anxious about having enough of those propeller-head Rooster 🔠Tails for the trip in June when school would be out. One weekend in May of '73 we drove all over Bucks County, Pennsylvania, buying-up as many of that type of lure as we could find. Good times. That type of Rooster 📠Tail was excellent for dropping straight down into deep holes where there was an undercut. _If_ the trout was going to hit the lure it was just as the lure was starting on the way up. I haven't seen an original, prop-style Rooster Tail in decades though some knockoffs were sold over the years,
Caught 5 on the white yesterday
@Andrew B I know the feeling. In the era before braided line I lost my share of those and Panther Martins.
Them cheap 1$ rooster tails at walmart work the best. I watched one video and this guy said it was like the Top 10 best lure
This is a great idea to get everyone’s secret 🤫 ... “Tell me what your luckiest hook is†lol 😂
Nice Video 1st off. I have used many trout lures over the years,(I'm 54) I have used Mepps Spinners, Super Dupers, Panther Marten's, Rooster Tails, Kast Masters and the infamous Tasmanian Devil's. All produce on a given day with conditions of water/temp and clarity. Rooster Tails, Panther Martens and Tasmanian Devils gave me my best days on the lake overall. Depends on where you fish and what fishing for as to what you are going to catch.
I agree with you the Kast Master is just wonderful for muiti-use fish catcher for several species of fish.Personally have caught Rainbows Browns Trout, Bass Small/Big Mouth, Wipers, Striped Bass, Panfish Blue Gills Crappy and even Channel Catfish. Pretty versatile indeed! Anyone worth his salt, has a Kast Master or three in his/her tackle box/boxs!! Never get tired of fishing!! Better than any day of working.
Totally agree w/ gold Kastmaster, even my mentally challenged step-son consistantly catches trout in the mountain lakes here in Arizona. Great videos & thanks for all the amazing tips, you guys are awesome!
Thanks for information, love it
There are several lures that are great for trout. I've caught some monster brookies and 'bows from farm ponds on Panther Martins. All silver or all gold with orange hackle feathers. I have tons of them. Great lure!
Kastmaster is way to go... #1 for me... works while trolling too.... worked for me in WA, OR, CA, AZ, NE, VA, OH, SC
My go to lure is a black or brown roostertail. But I have been using the kastmaster and sometimes a cleo. 2 weeks ago got 3 huge rainbows on the kastmaster. They are killer on smallmouth bass too!
I love the Kastmaster. I've caught so many fish with them, not just trout, but bass, salmon, mackeral, bonita, stripers.
I gotta hand it to a Copper Kastmaster 10g. Love that lure. Deadly. Also landed three northern pike. My biggest so far is 36 inches. Great lure!
I agree. Kastmaster is my #1 goto for Trout fishing, my second being a wobbler spoon, either silver or brightly polished brass. In Interior AK, it "matches the hatch" of the feeder fish and has worked well all season. They even have "drop jig variants" for ice fishing also :)
#7 floating Rainbow Rapala.
I have personally caught hundreds of fish from 8 different species on that lure. In my boat we have had days where we ran 4 of them using plainer boards and had 4 hook ups at one time.
Yup me too those are hard to beat I got most of them from the browns n cutty to rainy and the lame lures too the wobblers. Got the full action ones too great for threeway swivel rigs.
Jake spin-a-lure is my go to lure on every size lake. From high Uinta lakes to large trolling lakes. Gold with red dot. Any size will do. Silver with red dot if overcast.
Your demonstrations are excellent. However, to sell what your saying it would be nice to see you guys actually catch fish in your videos.
I’ve had a lot of success with a scented rainbow rooster tail, from Yakima. I have some Kastmasters, but have never have never caught anything on them. I’m going to give it a shot, using some of the techniques in this video. Thanks.
Thank you, eastern wa aswell.
The 1/8 and1/4 oz kastmasters are my go to lures for trout. However 1/8 and 1/4 oz Al’s goldfish are my second choice gold or chrome blue finishes for both lures. I also use Panther Martin spinners to mix things up
Joe's flies I usually go for the dark colored ones u can fish them up and down stream and still get good action. My second would be a blue fox minnow.
#1 Copper Blue Fox vibrax spinner
#2 Kastmaster color depends on the weather but usually gold
#3 white rooster tail
Castmaster by far in the northeast. Far casts and covers lot of ground. Great for smallmouths bass and pickerel. Joe’s flies work well,as well. Keep up the great videos!
My favorite trout lure is a power bait sit swim bait with a zebco mediums light action spinning rod and with 4lb mono
I personally use small roosters. I use them spinning or trolling behind my kayak with a flasher. I bought one of these and will use it soon though!
For me, it's hard to beat a Panther Martin spinner, yellow, gold, silver in the 3 smaller sizes. Ive caught more trout on them than with worms and since PM makes their classics in single hook version, I can use them In NY waters with single hook regulations. The only other really good one is a #2 Mepps Comet Minnow.
Sølvkroken Spesial spinner 9g GFL
Just watched 5 of your posts fist time i saw you hook one, i must be addicted
Just bought some kastmater lures. Gonna try them next weekend. Awesome vid
I dunno about it being the best lure, but the one I've caught more brown trout on the Provo River in Utah is a fluorescent green rooster tail spinner. I've tried multiple lures, including my Kastmaster, Mepps spinner, spoons, Panther Martens, Rapala brown trout, fish eggs, artificial worms, etc., but the green rooster tail spinner is the most dependable one for me here, even after the sun has gone behind the mountains and the river is swarming with mosquitos. I've learned a lot from this channel to improve my spin fishing. I even picked up an Okuma Celilo UL rod and gonna get the Okuma Ceymar reel because of your guys recommendations. Once I got my Okuma rod, I reeled in 3 trout within 5-6 casts including my 16" brown while everybody around me was reeling in nothing. Good eating! Thanks guys!
Gold and silver 502 Super Duper hands down. I can catch my limit in 30 mins. Incredible action in the water.
Absolutely...i like the gold n red
Great lures!
On the Oregon coast the cormorants take nearly all the planters even the larger trophy trout.
You have me Convinced I'm going to try a few this week
How did it go?
Hands down panther Martin. Big blade. Not the most ideal for casting, but it does alright. I've caught small bluegill, small trout, monster trout, salmon, coastal cutthroat on the sound, and a few steelhead. The kastmaster is my second favorite though.
😀😂😜 kastmaster
I use a Luhr-Jensen Super Duper #503 for most trout. A #506 Works well down deep, for Lakers. With this lure I have caught Brookies,Browns, Rainbows, Cuthrouts, Dolly Vardens, Lakers and Arctic Greyling, also Bass, Panfish and Pike. They cast great, work smooth in rivers, up stream or down. Believe it or not, Bass Pro hangs them with ice fishing lures!
Nothing beats the super duper
Castmasters work amazing on white and stripped bass also. The definitely are one of the most versatile lures period.
WOLF RIVER WS WHITES ON KASTMASTER ....GET SOME.....
I appreciate the tips.
Great Vid I'm new to the Channel. have watch many your channel video last couple weeks,, Love your channel. My Fav. Fish-on ðŸ‘
Love the 1/4 and 3/8 ounce in chartreuse and gold or chartreuse and silver - definitely trout killers!! I like to tie directly to the lure, but fast clips have worked well, too.
I’m new to your channel and I just subd.
Good luck
Frank
Blue fox vibrax in blue and silver is my go to lure for splake and cutts, rooster tails for rainbows and good ol rapalas for the browns.
Blue and chrome quarter ounce Kastmaster, and quarter ounce Panther Martin, gold blade, black body with yellow spots
I have been trying to figure out the trout this spring after 2 trips. I have a favourite lure, which is the acme sidewinder. Specifically straight silver, 1/3 ounce! I look forward to adding a worm to my Kastmaster my next trip! Im sure i will get a hook up! Thanks AF!
Watching this video as I’m eating the 15 inch rainbow trout I caught on a gold cast-master just yesterday👌ðŸ½
I live in Ireland, my favourite lure for wild brown trout is a small mepps with a gold blade and red spots. I also a few feathers on the tail.
Black and Red or Yellow and Black
Bangtails aren't my all time fav. But for some reason brooder trout like the white ones
nice man, im gonna try that. i got a super pressured local lake, gonna also try the old bait and weight! maybe make a video on that style too!
I love your channel bro,thanks.
Thanks for watching!
definitely have to agree with the gold castsmaster
gold over the silver kind ?
Best trout lure of all time by far is the thomas buoyant spoon. hands down caught more trout on those than any other lure combined
Them Thomas EP Spinners are deadly too.
My favorite lure is the #7 floating vampire Rapala. Have caught so many trout and bass with it. Since it's so shiny, I think it really gets a fish's attention. Rapala countdowns are just as good in windy weather, or if the fish are deeper.
Joe’s Fly is my all time favorite for trout !!!
I like Joe's Lures Super Stryker.
After about 40 years of trout fishing in the states of Arizona, Idaho and California, my favorite trout lure(s) of all time are the Panther Martin spinner (Black with yellow dots and gold blade) and the Rapala Countdown (Silver and Black). The reason why I love these lures are the versatility of these 2 lures. I've caught my PB smallmouth on the PM along with LOTs of trout (different species) and I have caught several LMBs, SMBs, crappie and trout with the Rapala Countdowns. I do love the Kast Masters for the reasons you provided and I do have several sizes and colors of them. I also have other types of spoons (Lil Cleos, Thomas Buoyants, Super Dupers, etc. that I use. They are all awesome trout catchers! I am starting to get into mini jig fishing for trout up here in the Eastern Sierras. I have seen many CZcams videos on anglers catching lots of trout with that technique. We will see how it does for me :-) Can't wait! Fish on and Tight Lines!
Hey man! AGREED! I've caught more trout and more different species of fish with the kastmaster than any other setup or rig. The panther martin is a real close second though. Question! Have you ever tried the real small ones on a fly rod? Heavier leader of course. But with a light strip? Very deadly! Just a simple roll cast or a flip cast and get ready! Works great for crappie too. Thanks guys! Love your videos! At 54 yrs. young. I can say that old dogs can learn new tricks. Keep up the good work! I truly believe that your CZcams channel will be bigger than you guys thought or ever hoped it would be? Later man
Try a Meps or a knock off. I catch more on those here in Colorado than I do on kastmaster.
Small white tube jigs or those "living eyes" work too.
But my fav. is Meps.
I caught 2 14" bass on a castmaster I found as well as crappie, sunniest and endless trout. The best lure?
The orange blue fox spinner's are great size 3 ðŸ˜
Acme phoebe 1/12 is my go to lure for trout, gold with red metallic stripe is my favorite color in the creeks I fish. The brookies and browns hammer them once you get the retrieve speed down
absolutely the undisputed champion of casting lures for shore fishing, and effective in a boat too
Good cast master
Other than plugs,(Yup....plugs for trout ), Kastmaster has been in my kit for 50 years or so.
I have also caught steelhead on them drifting.
If you have to cast long for big striper in the surf I add some buck tail or flashabou to a single barbless. Buy the 2 and 3 oz.
I have added a mylar tube to them with with a long trailer for barracuda. Think needlefish.
What were you saying about versatile?
Great content as always!
I agree about the Castmaster.
Best for numbers is a panther Martin best for big trout I'd go with a silver super fluke on jighead
Williams wobbler been killing trout waters from Washington state to Colorado and all states between ...I've tried everything the. Williams wobbler learn to fish with it.best trout lure of all time
This is an old lure not sure if they make them anymore but I got it outta my grandfathers tackle box it is a super duper treble hooked spinner. Very good for any trout👌ðŸ»
The bigger Kastmasters can sometimes sail out flat side down and really carry a long way. They also can snap knots right off so I use the double improved clinch knot. The best spoon for lunker trout is the red and white Daredevil midget (3/16oz). No contest! It casts well enough. Add a ring to tie to for the best action.
I used to throw kastmasters off a lot, but I quit running it too far up to the rod tip and keeping away from the temptation to cast it very hard. I use an improved clinch knot for the big ones and palomars for the small ones, and just cast it the same way I would for any other lure, with about 8-12 inches of line under the rod tip.
lil carn an dubya D40 brother!. I was fishing box canyon Idaho recently and snagged an old line in the river off the bank. I was able to reel it all in and at the end of that line was a kastmaster. Best catch of the day!.
Jordan probably using a Black and gold Panther Martin. And I've been catching fish around the world on PM's since the 70's
I have a special place in my tackle box where I keep my kastmasters, all different sizes and weights! I just wanted to say they are as good for pan fish as they are for trout! I caught a 3and a half pound crappie bass on 1/25oz. Red and gold! I hate when I lose one to a snag or on the bottom!
Losing a lure isn't fun at all.
@@beebob1279 FINDING THEM IS...LOL
Ivan my favorite is made by acme in my home state rhode island. Yes the kastmaster best for trout. Half silver half blue
The best there is but some days panther martin was the best. Yes sir kastmaster is the best great movement. Take care ivan.
@@martinpazienza1816 I have a black and yellow panther Martin that really works well 👌 on dark and cloudy days
Ivan your right for sure. Clear water try yellow with red dots yep fishing is the best!
Another good bait to use in clear water if there is a drift I would use a small egg sack (4-5eggs) with a red hook the trout absolutely love it even brown trout
hey im from northern ireland, we use kastmasters in the summer for sea-run brown trout in the sea, the blue and silver ones are amazing but if im fishing browns in the river its a mepps comet silver and any colour dot on the blade, ive got thousands with them i think ive lost count, great channel by the way
Great video sir
Number 6 brown and yellow pistol pete with 4' leader. Great for stream fishing
CP swing spinner or the like for streams.. I have it in my arsenal at all times. Spinners are great. Now in recent years new lures are coming out that I haven't tried. Maybe my CP swing would be replaced.
For lake fishing I like bait fishing, but a spinner with a rainbow trout colors really well.
My new favorite is Dynamic Lure HD Trout in the color of rainbow and brown
Rooster tails have been the best for me so far. I want to try to the Kastmaster/wacky rig worm trick next time!
Raypala’s and rooster tails are my favorite yesterday I caught a 4lb brown trout on a rooster tail and a 3lb on a raypala
Thomas Buoyant spoons. They've always worked for me. Kastmasters are good. I use them too. Thanks for the extra tips.
You have the right lure! I will say the copper one works the best!
I live in mid Michigan and am addicted to trout I love fishing with small vibrax in a silver or gold color the big brown trout love em
I only fish rivers, streams, ect and then come bass invasion also known as late June early July here in Nova Scotia. That's when I start mackerel fishing.
I bought a large variety of spinners and spoons but now all I ever buy is Williams Wobbles spoons in Silver or Gold,. Silver being my favorite. They are a little more expensive but the way the trout slam them is well worth the money.
just had amazing luck with the gold and red kastmaster. I was nailing rainbows nonstop.
Awesome!!
The best lure to use fishing is the one you’re using. Hey you’re out fishing right. I often fish with only a minimum amount of tackle I carry
on me. My tackle box is three Altoids type containers stick together. Extra of everything I think I’ll need besides what is on my pole. A selection of the Kastmasters plus a couple extra styles is perfect. I do have to agree with you about this lure, simple is best.
For casting from shore River or pond , lake panther martin gold blade yellow with red dots on body . For trolling gold weeping willow spoon .
Kastmaster is the best. I even troll with it. I have caught blue gill, perch, trout, Kokanee, larger mouth bass, you name it. Best lure out there. I even have a tattoo of one
YEP ....WHITEBASS KILLER FOR ME ALSO.....
Trolling hoochies is my fav for trout
I like kastmasters but trout magnets are my go to bait majority of the time
Do you just hook the magnet straight to the line ?
yellow panther Martin with red spots is my favorite lure of all time.
BLACK W YELLOW SPOTS WAS A KILLER LURE WHEN IT WOULD OUTFISH A KASTMASTER TGE MAJORITY OF THE TIME
In in love with the catsmaster
Williams wobbler is my favorite it's expensive but effective
Kastmaster Great on the Lake, River & I do well jigging them for trout ice fishing.
ill have to try a kastmaster for ice fishing
I'm so glad to see area I currently fish in. Thank you so much for the info.
