4th yr trying Mason bees. Noticed you said mid-March in regards to emergence, several times and then mid-May at the end of the talk. I am in Milwaukee county where this talk appeared to be. It's March 22, and eeeeks it's frozen. I wait until the temp is above 50 and there are blooms out. Did have the batch last year hatch in my fridge...only because my g/f thought she was doing me a favor and cleaning it, and left them on the counter too long to warm up:/ I managed to save every last one and let them go when the time was right:) Awesome, succinct talk on them, though:)

Very nice talk and good information.
The stems of Chinese knot weed or Jerusalem artichoke make good straws to use by themselves or as liners.

I bought a mason bee house with routed nesting trays. It also had bamboo. The bees ONLY chose to use the bamboo. What could be wrong with the trays? Also, what would be the recipe for a mason bee attractant?

We bought a bee house with a bag full of mason bees but they’re starting to come out of cocoon can we put them in fridge still or is it too late? Or should we just put them outside we hadn’t put them outside cuz we have a bad wasp problem we’re afraid they will kill them

What kind of wood works best for making Mason Bee Homes? I was thinking
cedar would work well since it doesn't decay very fast in the outdoors,
but I was concerned since cedar is known to be a natural bug repellent
in it. Wasn't sure if it would hurt the Mason Bees or discourage them to
    enter

Wood without strong natural oils are best. Non treated as well. Cedar isnt the best. I am going to use Fir.

Give nature a break and don't buy premade hives. Rather make them from materials you already have available, e.g. used copy paper rolled up around a pencil, to give your project a green start.
