  • Step how to replace the broken shower handle and old valve or faucet without hacking the wall. Replace with the same type or size of the valve is more easier instead of replace the whole set. If problem still persists, please consult or get help from your local plumber. Bathroom maintenance.

    This little czcams.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.

    Should never use power tools on plumbing, and the amount of teflon tape applied was outrageous. That was a sealed valve so teflon tape was unnecessary. And if you have to use power tools to take a shower valve apart, you have more serious issues. But kudos to you doing your own fix.... hopefully that was your own fix at home.

    No need to put Teflon tape, there is an o’ring. I actually changed from full turn spindle to quarter turn ceramic disc cartridge. So much better.

      Exactly and he threaded teflón wrong direction. So point less. And the electrical screw driver about had me rolling. Need to change seat too. They always miss it. That's where a little pipe teflón comes handy.😅

  • @tpnotes

    You're not supposed to put that much teflon, and the direction you're supposed to wind it is left outward, same as electric tape.

      Thanks for the comment..yup..actually no need to put the teflon. Since I always practice to put the teflon when changing the valve, so i decided to put it as well. I just realized that direction is wrong when people comment in this video 😬. Maybe that time Im focus more to shoot the video. Sorry about that.

    You have not changed the whole valve. You changed only spindle. Was spindle damaged ? Least chance of spindle damage. Old spindle can be replaced mere by replacing rubber washer. In any valve or tap leakage , most probably washer gets damaged / ruined. Next chance is of spindle failure. So, one has to change spindle otherwise only replacement of rubber washer works well.

    • @chipchannel174
      @chipchannel174  Před 2 lety +1

      The valve thread damage probably happens during installation due to not properly inserting the valve or over tighten. I'm not sure what type of valve are you using and my suggestion better to get a plumber to change the new set of valves and might need to hack the wall. This is the best solution I think.

    • @chipchannel174

    • @jeanbyrd7444
      @jeanbyrd7444 Před 2 lety +3

      Check whether your plumber is actually correct in saying he cannot get that valve. Hes too lazy to go check, just wants you to buy a whole new tap so he doesnt traipse around! They should all be standard.

    • @Danz4251
      @Danz4251 Před rokem

      See if it can be done from behind the wall. If not use a diamond blade with grinder to carefully remove section with tile. If access from rear i recommend an access panel installed for any future maintenance, repair.. lol..
