- Welcome to Nara, Japan - the city mainly known for its adorable and polite deer but has so much more to explore! Join Shizuka, as she embarks on a journey through the ancient capital, discovering hidden secrets behind Nara's sake culture.
Nara's was once Japan’s imperial capital (710 to 784 CE) - a pivotal time when Buddhism and Shinto coexisted - and this era left a mark on the region's spirituality and view of sake as an offering to the gods. The city has long been a hub of sake production, and we're here to explore the intricate connection between spirituality and the sake brewing tradition.
With Shizuka, tour a shrine, temple and two sake breweries scattered across Nara, each with its own unique connection to the local culinary legacy, and indulge in various sakes, as well as the local foods and flavors that perfectly complement the Nara sake experience.
Cheers!

Hello Shizuka! ❤🎉☺️ Thanks for sharing the booze story 😁.
Anytime! hehe😊
I'm grateful for the insight to sake production and culture. It's always nice to know where and how food and drink are made. Keep the videos rolling. Thanks❤🙏
Respect! These people work very hard to make the best sake!
She's Loving every minute of it, and so am I! 😊
Love it!

Shizuka is the perfect presenter. Max style and substance... So down-to-earth yet so refined.
I just love her voice... She could just podcast and I'd follow her anyway in her Japan's discovery journey. But she's the COMPLETE package... a lovely, beautiful young lady making our days better🥰
Shizzy, keep being you. You're a pure ray of light, we love you❤
We could not agree more with you!
Great Episode everyone! I was literally imagining a sweet, slightly syrup like sake with the strawberries, and a clean, sharper sake with the smokey chicken. I love the idea of a standing sake bar - grab a quick bite and a sake at a train station. A great way to taking care of being "hangry" - some food to settle the tummy, and sake to relax (or numb) the mind. We could use that at Union Station and some of the subway stations in Toronto. Thanks again Japan by Food team! Shizuka, hugs from Canada!
Sending hugs to Canada! Standing bars are amazing!
Shizuka was impressive in the sake descriptions themselves and describing the pairing on the palate . Shizuka comes across as a sake sommelier .
#JapanByFood - this was a great shoot !
She did an amazing job!
Thank you so much!! :)
Another great Shizuka vlog !
What is more important the Deer or the Shizuka’s distillery empire 🤔
Both!
This looks like a wonderful trip. Japan is simply fantastic ❤
Thank you!
What a fun trip… I can almost imagine the feeling of the smooth sake. Careful with all those gods!!!… especially the ones with multiple heads. Lol.!
Very delicious!
Another great video Shizuka.. Kanpai.
Kanpaaai!
Another super video, love to learn culture from all around Japan, each section is so different . I've been following for awhile .

Such a beautiful town!
And yes, I love me some sake!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!
We will!
Super fascinating! Never thought sake could have such deep history
For real! it is a treasure!
I love this channel so much. You’re my favorite host. And I just flipped out when I saw you in the trailer for the new season of Somebody Feed Phil! Can’t wait to watch!
What a informative video clip, thank you Shizuka! I feel very thirsty now!
You and me both!
If I had one yen for every video about the deer of Nara I've watched, I could buy a nice bottle of sake
There are many!
Shizuka this was very interesting, and yes I do love Saki.
We love Sake too!
I love Nara its more relaxing than Kyoto but has so much history. What an amazing day you had.
Lovely! Have an awesome week🤍
Thank you! Have a great week too!

Super detailed!
Just seems so peaceful over there.
It is amazing! Definitely worth the visit!
Would love to revist Nara again! Such a lovely countryside.
It deserves all the attention!
Awesome video. Sake will always be my favorite drink. Was hoping you would have fed the deer.
We did feed them! It is in the older video tho TT
I will remember the deer, always! 😜😝😉🦌🦌
Honestly, same:D
One of my favorite places outside Kawasaki city, Kanagawa prefecture, or Tokyo,Where I’m from.. Luv ya Shizuka-chan !
Love these videos. I fell like i'm there also. .Too bad I can't taste.
Hi Shizuka! Great video! I am really interested in the sake that you said was super sweet! I wonder if I can find it in Hawaii? Oh and BTW, your last few videos seem to have a lot of alcoholic beverages....hmmmm! LOL! Jodan, jodan! Keep up the good work!
Hmm, not sure if it can be found in Hawaii, but another good reason to visit Japan! And yes, lots of drinking lately:D
The temple is totally my sped. Such a beautiful kannon.
Worth the visit!
Beautiful 😍❤️❣️💖💝💞
Many many thanks!
Thank you for the video. Now I have to order a bottle of sake.
Go for it!
Ohhh that Saba sushi ❤
Love it!
@@JapanbyFood I could have have that everyday 🍣
Time to change the name to Japan by booze. 😁🥂
For real!
Hater. She's amazing. I love her videos.
❤️❤️❤️
👍
I ❤ You Shizuka, Happy Valentines Day🌹
Happy Valentine's Day!
OK... I'm watching this a day later than I normally do... thanks Super Browl. The eternal question: sake hot or cold?
Hmmm, we cannot decide either!
I have never heard of a person's tongue oozing out oil 21:28 regardless of what they just ate. Either Shizuka has a sponge for a tongue, or the high-grade Saki was finally having its intended effect. Shizuka sure works hard for her money, and I hope she got a bonus for this episode!
Thank you so much! Every prefecture feels like visiting a different country!
Thank you! 😆 I was talking about how the oiliness of the chicken gently coats your tongue, and how the sake effectively cuts through the oil on your tongue to create a harmony of flavor!
@@ShizukaAnderson You are a consummate professional and in no need of a wisecracker Italian telling you how to do your job! You work hard for your money, and we better treat you right!
enjoying ur tours, thanks for taking us out to new places!!
Thank you for coming along!
Shizukaaaaaaa
Shizuka's on a strawberry streak.
Yep!
how do I book this experience please?
It will be available very soon!
How do make the dear bow?
You bow to it first!
Shizuka: Beer would be a good appetizer before sake.
Totally!
I'll try Izakaya Miyokiku tomorrow in Nara. Thanks for the recommendation @@JapanbyFood
OMS = Oh my Shizuka
I like you on tv...
What did I learn from you?
The fun part was watching you get a little tipsy L O L
There was a looot of sake!:D

Maybe:P
@@JapanbyFood 🥰🥰🥰🥰
