I was saddened to hear of Alan passing, he was one of my favourite roboteers, and really knew his stuff. I remember seeing you drive pussycat and you did amazing Ann.
David was an extremely talented driver and IMO the best one in the history of the show, plus the machine was up there with my favourites because of it's unique design. Both him and Alan hugely contributed to what made Robot Wars so enjoyable to watch and will always be remembered fondly

Really good list i still think bodyhammer, groundhog, chaos 1 and robot the bruce deserved a mention on the retrospective successors sad we never got to c razer v hypnodisc or carbide or apollo or eruption or even hypnodisc v tx-108
Genuinely gutted I missed the final episode! Of all weeks. Did not expect the top 3 in that order. I wanted that order but expected Chaos II at Number 1. Regardless, thanks for doing this, really enjoyed watching it.
Spoilers I think the sheer influence of Chaos 2 in robot designs gives it, for me, the first place finish, but you're not wrong that they are the big three. Even someone like me who doesn't really care for Razer has to acknowledge it's power and ability. Really, the order of those three doesn't matter that much. It'll be personal preference.
The funny thing about Diotor is that starting in season 4 or so they actually went out of their way to source the fur in a more flammable version after their original supplier switched to a fabric that wouldn't sustain a flame.
10: I once held the blade of that bot and it was when i realised just how big these bots are. 09: One of the bots i'll always remember. I'm surprised it was around so long. 08: It's the Waspinator of Robot Wars! Gotta love this guy. 07: *death hum intensifies* My favourite bot of the reboot seasons. 06: A pretty decent robot though that cage frame tactic was just cheating. 05: Another decent bot but too reliant on pitting opponents. 04: A bot that stands out due to its paintjob. That's why i remember it. 03: So good it became a House Robot. Don't think it ever got to fight as one though... 02: I got on to this video from a compilation of his most destructive rounds. 01: Piercing Eagle! Be Punctured By The Force Of Its Beak.
Incredible tribute to Robot Wars. I really hope Robot Wars comes back again but either way I'm happy that I grew up with it and am now at an age where I can genuinely consider building a robot of sorts even if it's a lightweight of beetleweight or antweight. Just something to dedicate to something I believe to be a huge part of my childhood growing up and something I will never let die.
If I had the money to do it I would buy the rights to the Robot Wars brand and see if Netflix or Amazon want to show it. I think if the BBC had taken more care with it in regards to it's marketing and scheduling the reboot would have lasted more than 3 series. Not sure if I'd enter anything though unless if it's intended as a joke bot as I don't think I have quite the engineering and building nous to create something that would be competitive
That's what I thought it was going to be/what I would have done. I felt it was up for grabs though. As much as I prefer Hypno Disc didn't think it should be higher than 3.
I see what you are saying, they were the first, big dominant reigning champ but you can't beat the combination of amazing traits Razer has going for it. 1. It was so dominant that literally every loss was a major upset. Every single roboteer feared having to face Razer for the seasons it was active. 2. It's design is not only iconic, but genuinely gorgeous, while being reliable, durable, and practical 3. It was incredibly reliable. They only reason it's known for "reliability issues" was because those are the only times it would lose for a couple years. 4. It's the only successful "piercer" robot pretty much ever. It's an almost totally unique weapons system that they created and perfected. Many tried to copy the concept and all failed. 5. It's involved in the single most controversial judges decision in Robot Wars history against Tornado and their anti-razer/anti-pit device. Chaos 2 was the first to become a dominant "Reigning Champ" but their reign was shorter than Razers. Their weapon system unique and strong, but has since been copied and improved upon countless times. Their robots design was sleek and practical but nothing beautiful. Plus, despite an early dominant streak, they eventually fell in line with most other robots as the arms race of Robot Wars caught up to George Francis and the Chaos 2 team. During Razers reign, it was miles ahead of the competition and the Razer team was smart enough to GTFO once strong spinners started to rule the scene.
I always believed that Razer would be the number one icon of the show, and now, it's pretty much confirmed. I couldn't be happier. That was such an amazing countdown series. Well done to NJGW and all the other contributors, you have all done such a spectacular job! 🤘
Excellent work. I was quibbling over little things like eruption under apollo but you lot have seriously done justice to the participants of the greatest show of all time.

Words cannot describe how thrilled I am that Razer is #1. When you did the Top 100 Battles, I didn't think anything else could beat it but this countdown has done so by a mile. Thank you so much for entertaining all of us hardcore RW fans with this stuff and I can't wait to see what else you bring us.
Brilliant series of videos, and this last one in particular; Amazing! Well done. This brought back so many great memories of mine watching this show as a preteen by the end of the classic series. Very few times through your series was i questioning the placements you gave.

#3 surprised me. Once that was declared, I knew the order of the other two. I don't think I'd have been so sure had #2 been 3rd instead. Pretty much all I'd swap in this part of the list though.

Great videos, brings back a ton of memories from watching the TV show as a kid. This whole time I was wondering if you guys were gonna cause some controversy by NOT picking Razer as number one.
tornado being number 6 was well deserved even considering the rest of the list and personally I love tornado given the fact it is the robot for me that kept me wanting to get into the sport more then any other robot mainly down to the fact they are incredilble powerful and they were even from my home town and I saw them win series 6 in person when I was very young (like 3 and half years old) and even got to meet them at a school fair 2 years later and back in robonerd 2019 I meet Andrew Marchant again and he even remember me from when I meet him at the school fair
After seeing the first 9 videos, I made a prediction of what the top 10 remaining robots were (in no particular order), and I got all 10 of them correct, WHOOP WHOOP!!! By the way, I was a little mad that robots like Corkscrew and Hydra didn’t make the Top 100, but I am glad they are at least included in the honorable mentions. Thank you for a wonderful list.

Great list. Never liked Razer. Liked Simon Scott and Vinnie Blood. Ian Lewis always really annoyed me. The robot was fantastic but always found it boringly good. That said, I probably would have had them first myself. Chaos 2 second for me, then Hypno-Disc. Would have gone: 1 Razer 2 Chaos 2 3 Hypno Disc 4 Tornado 5 Panic Attack 6 Firestorm 7 Carbide 8 Diotóir 9 Pussycat 10 Behemoth I only disagree on order. I think all of the top ten you picked are worthy of inclusion, same with the top three in the top three. I think you've been as close to the mark as I could reasonably expect, so well done. Brilliant tribute to the show.
People tend to undervalue Hypno-Disc's resemblance of the USS Enterprise. Even if it had lacked the impressive record and damage potential, that unique-yet-familiar appearance alone would have been enough for it to be one of the most memorable robots.
Storm 2 at 24 is an insult tbh especially with bots like Mortis, stinger dominator 2 and wheelie big cheese ranked higher, especially since any fan of the show knows that they defeated typhoon 2 with ease and were robbed of the grand final and the title One of the icons for sure
Not sure about the International RW competitors, but I reckon BioHazard and Juggerbot would take the top spots for icons of BattleBots and Robotica, respectively
Imho both guys from Firestorm (Graham Bone and Alex Mordue) were best drivers in all robot shows. Also always loved the attitude of Hazel Heslop/Bone. My fav team ever
What a fantastic list, while I don't agree with all the placements, this list is just a fantastic tribute to the show. Although I didn't predict it, I'm glad the Ultimate Warriors made the Top 3 and Razer absolutely deserved that Number 1 placement, they're basically the mascot of Classic Robot Combat and it is great that we have robots like Quantum/Spectre to continue it's legacy. So... Top 20 International Icons anybody :)
This was a hell of a ride! I believe the top 4 is perfect as it was. Believe Hypno had to be above Chaos 2 I mean it was the first to get the toy 😂 glad I got Pussycat correct at 10 too
Also looking back, if I think there was one miss of this list as a whole it was probably Pitbull from the third wars - memorable for its appearance and the constant barrage of dog puns that Craig and Jonathan would inflict on the audience whenever it was competing, plus the "PTO" on its underside whenever it was flipped over. Gave Firestorm a good fight in the semis too. Definitely a low-end entry or even an honourable mention for me but it was always memorable to me.
The top three couldn't be anything else. Mention Robot Wars to anyone in the UK aged 20 or older and the chances are Razer, Hypno Disc and Chaos 2 will come to mind. I'd have loved to see Plunderbird in the top 20. I (vaguely) remember meeting the team with Plunderbird 4 at a friend's 4th birthday party and they couldn't have been nicer blokes. Really enjoyed the list!
I think bots like Cunning Plan, Blade, Pitbull and Trident, Bodyhammer, Robot the Bruce deserved at least honourable mentions. Sumpthing, Black Hole, Ming, Major Tom, Morgue questionable... But great list anyway
Putting down my list before this starts: 10: Tornado 9: Pussycat 8: Behemoth (interchangeable with #7) 7: Carbide 6: Diotor 5: Panic Attack (interchangeable with #4) 4: Firestorm 3: Razer (the only one of the big 3 that some people hate) 2: Hypnodisc 1: Chaos 2 (go watch it's series 3 campaign and try putting it lower. I dare you)
only team i don't like is tornado not because of there design but they cheated in the fight against razer. i wouldn't say that making a anti crush weapons wrong but basic thing is that still should be a rule that they have to fit in the pit and it stopped them going into the pit
Personally I always disliked the tornado win vs razor, but that's just because to me he was clearly pitted because he was immobilized at the pit. Razor had just come back and ended that bots whole ability to act. That's a win in my book.
Tbh if i was in behemoth team of adults lost to children i be probably be very embarrassed, even i would never let that go, why? Because that becomes a laughing stock for everyone to see,, so i can feel to that guys frustration and i dont blame him
Hate to say it but I disagree, the top 3 yes are iconic and probably the most well known robots, but you missed 5 off the list, arguably the most popular robots of all, the house robots, granted I could probably only see killalot and matilda in the top 5, but if you are talking bots, which you are then the house robots are probably some of if not the most iconic bots on the show. Excluding them yeah I agree with the list but a list without at least 1 of them doesn’t really feel like a proper list
Not enough can be said about how dominant and awesome the Razer team was. It should be mentioned how great their driver was and how friendly and sportmanlike their whole team was at all times.I remember being angrier about their loss to Tornado than they were. They were all smiles and congratulations while I woulda been arguing with Craig Charles about how Tornado had cheated.
You what? Chaos two third? Despite being the only robot to defend its title ever? Over a robot that never won a title just because it revolutionised spinners as if chaos two didn't revolutionise flippers?
This is the most iconic robots list, not the best robots list. I believe if you ask 100 people to name a robot wars robot most would say Hypno before Chaos
@@bcfcfan8847 exactly, and a robot that won two titles, and bought a brand new weapon to the arena, not just inventing a new way to cause damage but a new way to win by flipping robots completely out of the arena which still has robots based off it to this day is far more iconic than Hypno disc which struggled to even damage most robots in season 5 and 6.

Imho both guys from Firestorm (Graham Bone and Alex Mordue) were best drivers in all robot shows. Also always loved the attitude of Hazel Heslop/Bone. My fav team ever
What a fantastic list, while I don't agree with all the placements, this list is just a fantastic tribute to the show. Although I didn't predict it, I'm glad the Ultimate Warriors made the Top 3 and Razer absolutely deserved that Number 1 placement, they're basically the mascot of Classic Robot Combat and it is great that we have robots like Quantum/Spectre to continue it's legacy.
So... Top 20 International Icons anybody :)
This was a hell of a ride! I believe the top 4 is perfect as it was. Believe Hypno had to be above Chaos 2 I mean it was the first to get the toy 😂 glad I got Pussycat correct at 10 too
Top 3 was inevitable though plenty of room for debate as to order. For me it’s Razer no.1, Chaos 2 in second place, Hypnodisc third.
Also looking back, if I think there was one miss of this list as a whole it was probably Pitbull from the third wars - memorable for its appearance and the constant barrage of dog puns that Craig and Jonathan would inflict on the audience whenever it was competing, plus the "PTO" on its underside whenever it was flipped over. Gave Firestorm a good fight in the semis too. Definitely a low-end entry or even an honourable mention for me but it was always memorable to me.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Wouldn't have put Diotior in my top 10 though. Probably replaced with Cassius.
Well the classic series of Robot Wars wouldn’t be reference if it wasn’t for Diotior return in last episode I’m the show.

The top three couldn't be anything else. Mention Robot Wars to anyone in the UK aged 20 or older and the chances are Razer, Hypno Disc and Chaos 2 will come to mind. I'd have loved to see Plunderbird in the top 20. I (vaguely) remember meeting the team with Plunderbird 4 at a friend's 4th birthday party and they couldn't have been nicer blokes. Really enjoyed the list!

I think bots like Cunning Plan, Blade, Pitbull and Trident, Bodyhammer, Robot the Bruce deserved at least honourable mentions. Sumpthing, Black Hole, Ming, Major Tom, Morgue questionable... But great list anyway

Personally I always disliked the tornado win vs razor, but that's just because to me he was clearly pitted because he was immobilized at the pit. Razor had just come back and ended that bots whole ability to act. That's a win in my book.

Hate to say it but I disagree, the top 3 yes are iconic and probably the most well known robots, but you missed 5 off the list, arguably the most popular robots of all, the house robots, granted I could probably only see killalot and matilda in the top 5, but if you are talking bots, which you are then the house robots are probably some of if not the most iconic bots on the show. Excluding them yeah I agree with the list but a list without at least 1 of them doesn’t really feel like a proper list

Because it is in the reboot. Classic series bots are what most people saw growing up, it was much more popular back then.

Not enough can be said about how dominant and awesome the Razer team was. It should be mentioned how great their driver was and how friendly and sportmanlike their whole team was at all times.I remember being angrier about their loss to Tornado than they were. They were all smiles and congratulations while I woulda been arguing with Craig Charles about how Tornado had cheated.

This is the most iconic robots list, not the best robots list. I believe if you ask 100 people to name a robot wars robot most would say Hypno before Chaos
@@bcfcfan8847 exactly, and a robot that won two titles, and bought a brand new weapon to the arena, not just inventing a new way to cause damage but a new way to win by flipping robots completely out of the arena which still has robots based off it to this day is far more iconic than Hypno disc which struggled to even damage most robots in season 5 and 6.
@@joewhite4456 Hypno Disc had the ultimate new weapon, by your logic Chaos 2 had just another way to flip robots lol plus Hypno was still seriously good in S5. It's close though number 1 was correct for sure it had to be Razer
@@bcfcfan8847 it was barely doing damage a lot of that season and needed a lot of judges decisions, and the ways to eliminate a robot are to immobilise it, pit it, or flip it out the arena. One of those didn't even exist until chaos two came along.
