40:51 wriggly little what now?
It pains that Killertron wasn't able to beat Roadblock to get 3rd place, it would have been vengeance for them losing to Roadblock in series 1! But it just goes to show that between the two of them, Roadblock is the better robot in a 1v1. It's amazing how astounded and hypnotised everyone is about Cassius's srimech in this series, then you get to series 3 and it's a common feature! As with the semi-finals, though, there's some great battles here. Cassius flipping Roadblock for its first (and only) loss was astounding considering how big and heavy Roadblock is, but that ram of Cassius really is fantastic for series 2. Though that drive by Panic Attack, waiting for Cassius to drive in front of them before pushing them into the pit was a great tactic, though I certainly wouldn't have been disappointed if Cassius had won instead.
l like razor working with the house robot on uk robot wars
l can hear dead metal theme tune from UK robot wars
Another great semi-final, just like the last one. Great robots in this, and Plunderbird is always great fun! Their theme song and personality really makes them charismatic, bringing character to the pits! The pinball was a bit unfair really, Killalot had a lot of free reign and interfered too much in Haardvark and G.B.H's runs. The battles, though, were great just like last time. Cassius really is a great robot for this series, and Road Block is just as good as it was in series 1. Cassius vs Haardvark was very good, they put up a good fight but it was really no contest against Cassius. Roadblock vs King Buxton was also surprisingly good too, since King Buxton can run both ways up but the new saw for Road Block is far better than they had last series.
Should definitely not have had a gauntlet and trials stage for the semi-finals, instead focus on having them fight. That race between Panic Attack and Mace looked incredibly rigged against Mace because the Sentinel just wasn't giving them any chance to get past, so there was no way at all that they would be able to win. A very decent line up for this semi-final in terms of robots, though. Panic Attack, Killertron, Mortis, Behemoth, all very good robots. Love seeing Killertron doing well in these early series, it's probably my favourite from series 1 & 2. Not sure why, I just find it a decent looking robot with a decent weapon for these early series, and the team is nice too. Panic Attack did very well against Mortis, and Killertron beating Behemoth is impressive too, very good damage from the pickaxe and a good robot in these early series like I said.
Mace went out in the gauntlet rerun. From Joe. X
@@joeandrews7329 Indeed they did. Revenge for them taking out Chaos in the heat though! I joke, they were a very nice team with a good robot for series 2.
@@legodude494 They were 2nd pinball warrior winners with Gemini the cluster bot from Hastings in east Sussex. From Joe. X
@joeandrews7329 Gemini was a great improvement over Mace, and a novel robot that did rather well considering its design.
Btw for your information the seeds of the heat was 3 stegs 2 heaven (seed 8) and splinter (seed 17)
Bigger Brother beat them both!. From Joe. X
God I miss Robot Wars. And Craig Charles..
17:07 lmao
hang on was that the son form the team called panic attack
Raizerblade got robbed
There weren't many good robots in this heat. Vercingetorix seemed like a decent robot until it broke down in the fight, Haardvark didn't look like much but it was decently good in the fights. The others were not much, really. Sumo definitely looked rigged, more so than any of the other trials or gauntlets so far. Dead Metal could definitely have ended some of those matches far quicker but decided to keep hold of them and saw them for a few seconds when really it should have just pushed and let go.
Sir killalot be like: is that claws almost similar to mine. I guess I will fling you out. 16:12
12:08 DISQUALIFIED!
Sounds like Jonathan needs a Snickers and a bar of soap.
I feel that Tornado cheated by putting that modification in to stop them from falling into the Pit. They should have been Disqualified afterwards.
hello l think they used dead metal theme tune at 3:37
As cringe as Plunderbird can be, I do love their team and I'm glad they kept with it for a few years. Their robots may not have been particularly good, though for series 1 & 2 they were actually very decent, but they were a fun team! Always good to see Roger Plant, too. The Mule is the origin of the Big Cheese and Wheely Big Cheese and it's amazing how different and simple it is compared to the power of Wheely Big Cheese.
Original cope cage
Razor would solo this entire arena of bots!!
4.38 crash.an,bash.an,smash😊😂🤗🤭
For series 2, GBH is a very competent robot and if the series didn't have the gauntlet and trial as a way of eliminating robots *again* then who knows how far GBH could have gotten. Nice to see the origins of the Ivanhoe team, who would go on to make the memorable Splinter who we know was... trashed by Hypno-Disc in a later series! Kill Dozer was remarkably competent too, a decent design which could have done better if the house robots hadn't intervened in their fight. The house robots in general had too much freedom in these early series, so it's good that they were cut back to the corners and the gauntlet stage removed in later series, which made the competitor designs matter a lot more and removed the whole "all you need to do to win is just push them into one of the sides and have the house robots win the fight for you".
Robo Doc is quite the interesting robot, and with them going on to build 101 in the future you can see how Robo Doc helped them figure out how to make 101 as good as it was. King Buxton is also nice to see, too. I like the shiny metal finish, too.
1 sharp blow from Vader killed Aggrobot 3. From Joe. X
Gemini blew that 1 v Reactor 2 I have to say!. From Joe. X
Mousetrap lured Shredder towards the pit button, and Shredder drove down it!. From Joe. X
Poor Pain just wasn't having a good time! Though with their speed, idk how well their run would have gone with the gauntlet anyway, and especially not the defender trial. It was an interesting robot, though, I'll give it that. I love Killertron, though. The team just seems very nice and friendly and the robot is very striking and iconic. It's a shame that they weren't upgraded for series 4 or that the team didn't make a new robot to complete in later series. Still, Killertron is one of the robots that's icon, especially with the early series.
Used to race against Nick at Aldershot Model Car Club almost 20 years ago and helped with his shop at his house on off days with family. Will always be the best Robot Wars guy and was a huge help with electric touring when 27 turn motor went through to silver brushes and 18 turn modified before all the brushless nonsense. Considering I raced the world champion neck and neck at 12-13 years old ( 16 years ago) using an Xray T1 and Nick's motors and batteries, he definitely knew what he was doing.
Terrible drivers
They should have had a special episode with Chaos 2 vs Sir Killalot since they would actually have a chance of winning their fight 😂
Wheely Big Cheese vs Killertron is a bit of a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby matchup
6:44 Geeesh calm down the extreme drama hype, you doofus. "THEYRE LOCKED TOGETHER IN SOME DANCE OF DEATH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Mortis won the series 4 war of Independence v the States later in the series, but Tornado followed in his footsteps, he did the same thing in the Extreme Warriors series 2 international championship episode too!. From Joe. X
Arguably one of the most momentous heats in all of Robot Wars history. The birth of both Razer and Behemoth, Milly Ann Bug making its debut, as well as the last appearance of Bodyhammer before they returned with Pussycat for Series 3. Lots of roboteers and robots that would go on to be household names first appeared in Series 2, actually. We had Chaos with George Francis in heat B, the last appearance before Chaos 2, then Mortis the heat after which is always fun to see. Whilst I don't like the gauntlet, etc, being a way to knock out competitors in Series 1 & 2, you can't deny that a lot of Series 2 set up the path for both future series and important teams. It always hurts to see Razer go out, just imagine if they had reached Behemoth and fought the very first iteration of that robot. Until series 5 when they won, Razer was very much like Hypno-Disc in that they were plagued by bad luck despite having such a great robot. Razer, though, did win a lot of side competitions unlike Hypno-Disc.
Well done, Growler. Ruining a really promising fight for the third place.
Yay it's sea devil
Challenger looked good but poor driving lets it down. Mortis is of course a good robot, the best out of this heat most certainly. It's sad that Dreadnaught didn't get past its fight, as I always like the robot, but poor Dreadnaught is just plagued with bad luck!
I think mechanical fault was as much to blame as anything for Razer’s loss to Pussycat in this battle, but if future form was anything to go by, Pussycat had Razer’s number. While I’d hesitate to say it was a better machine it was just a horrible matchup for Razer - very difficult to get a good grip on it and it was always well piloted and had damaging weaponry of its own.
2:00 6:05 6:19 Is that green drawing a Sonic OC!?
10:53 Could I get a ruling here? The RefBot already counted out Widow's Revenge, but Razor fell into the pit after said count-out. Which one actually won here?
The Thing series of robots were honestly never that impressively designed, but all of them were well solidly built and most importantly well driven and it always took them a long way. Just goes to show how much control and reliability matter
4:50 stegosaurus proved too good for gravedigger 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What absolute nonsense from johathon Pearce, such a laughable comment, he must have had a short term memory cause in that series 3 semi final fight, Gravedigger battered stegosaurus in that fight and yet a ridiculous judge's decision gave stegosaurus a win they didnt deserve.
This was a pretty weak heat tbh
I do believe Razer was robbed of the win.
Never give us the results grrrt
Purple predator was brilliantly designed, got to love a flipper bot with a huge ground clearance so it could never get under anything, and even if it did the fur would mean that it wouldn't be able to easily drive the opponent up on the wedge to flip anyway. It was purple though
Series 5 took place in 2001. These were amazing robots for their time, but would get destroyed by any of the recent robots from the past 5 years.
I remember watching this episode as a kid and having not been that impressed with any saw / spinner type weapons I'd seen on the show up to that point, didn't think hypnodisc would be that powerful or dangerous. I was convinced that flippers were the way forward and thus had Stealth pegged to win this heat after the first look at each contestant. Man was I wrong.
So this was what Sam Smith was doing before the singing gig took off 😂😂😂
Love how Craig calls them Razor not Razer. 😆
