  • After a long while I can present now a working uSDR. The I/Q mixer chip was broken. I fixed it (I have to reorder the chip 3 times because of wrong type and size...) and now the TRX works really nice. It is not an Elecraft/Yaesu/Icom,... but you can work QRP with it.
Tip: remove the internal speaker, don't use the applied microphone. I changed the microphone to be connected to the MIC socket. After this there was never a loud cracking noise. I think this noise killed the I/Q mixer. If you use headphones the transceiver sounds good. At CW you will have some effect like an noise-gate. This is really cool.
At the moment I have less time for doing videos and cutting them. But I will try to upload some new videos soon. Stay tuned :-)

You probably have the one in 10,000 that works well. You are lucky that you were able to repair the radio. You must be a talented operator with steady hands.

I am not sure if the quality is so bad. But the transceiver works so much better. I expect that they use some crappy and cheap I/Q mixer chips. The replacement was much better quality. I try to compare the uSDR with my Elecraft KX2. Stations was always nearby the same strength. But a small signal sounds scratchy on the uSDR and clean and readable on the KX2. But there is a sensitivity similar to the KX2 and you can work with it. Because of the size it is a really interesting transceiver. TX quality is another issue. It works but it sounds like s**t.
