could you maybe show us a video of how you set up your vermicompost and how to maintain it thanks would be awesome.
I just found your channel, and almost immediately subscribed. I really appreciate the relaxing music and level headed speaking. Gardening is my zen, I don’t need some guy chugging Mountain Dew screaming at me.
Lol! This is just my personality. I wouldn't like watching a guy chugging Mountain Dew screaming at me too. Thank you for kind words, means a lot.. it honestly encourages me to keep on going. Appreciate it!
This is the first time seeing someone making their own hydroponics fertilizer using vermicompost tea instead of synthetic fertilizer. I'd love to see a comparison of the two side by side. Well done!
I'm big on repurposing things & growin & Makin things myself so this's great!!
this is my favorite video on hydroponics, and i've watched many, thanks!
This is an unbelievably good video, just wow
Beautiful garden, excellent natural nutrients.
I love that you use an organic method to source your hydro nutrients. I have been thinking about doing the same thing on a larger scale.
I have to admit when I first started I was using the premade nutrients. I tested a few and this seems to work for me since I have worm casting readily available from my vermicompost. There's actually a ton of home made nutrients for hydroponics. That's amazing that you're planning to grow on a larger scale.
@@plantedinthegarden Me too, I didn't know you can straight up use "teas" like this hydroponically. Especially as you mentioned Krathy method can spare the absurdly expensive pumping system, making it MUCH more reasonable to run.
@@rickytorres9089 I like kratky as well. if I have to refill I only fill to 1/2 to 2/3 of the container to keep air roots. But my containers are large I don't have to add unless I am growing a fruiting plant.
Do you know any organic powder nutrients?
@plantedinthegarden what is the name of the reflecting flim you? To keep the light inside
@@plantedinthegarden Hi, where can I buy premade nutrients for hydroponic? I don't want to use chemical, so I grow food in the soil but have been dealing with pest issue.
Excellent video Marv and Char! I've always enjoyed your short reels on Instagram. But I really like the slower pace and more instructions on your CZcams videos 👏
Really appreciate you following our journey, we will definitely be making more long form videos here to help any way we can.
I’m glad I ran across your channel. I have enjoyed several of your videos. Thanks for inspiring me. Looking forward to Spring!
Happy to have you join us here. We love sharing our garden journey. We just want to help people to start growing their own food💚
Very informative video with every aspect and answer to all the questions I have in around 7 minutes. Great video!!
Thank you for your share. I really like your set up. Simple, easy, and no really expensive items.
There is beauty garden veggies.
Excellent demonstration! I love your channel. You inspire me.
I love gardening, just happen to come across your CZcams and I learn so much about hydroponics. I have to try this . Thank you so much for sharing. You are awesome explaining how do it. God bless.
Fantastic video. Love that you took the time to expand a bit on your reels. Thanks!
Thank you, still getting the hang of long form videos😅 We are enjoying the process and will be posting more here
Great job - clearly explained your entire process. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience & knowledge.
Thanks 🙏🥰. Im planning to move out of Fl to a zone 7 and your videos helps me a lot with my garden once I moves 🙏🙏
Thank you for the class. Ill put this to good use.
Thank you for the step by step nutrient recipe. Your crops are awesome.
Thank you! There’s plenty of recipes for hydroponics that you can make your own. We love trying them out to see how they do with our setup
Nice
Wow I love that you make your own nutrient for your plants 🪴, I never see more beautiful plants or seedlings than yours in the you tube channels 👍👍👍👍👍amazing
This is life changing, thank you
Wow, this means a lot to me! Thank you🙏
Wow 👌
I just picked up a Rise Garden, cant wait to get started with hydroponic gardening!
Thank you so much for the education and even more for the inspiration.
Thanks for watching, glad you find this useful😊
@@plantedinthegarden very useful. I built a downspout hydroponic garden in a 2x4 grow tent. What I'm finding most difficult is keeping the water clean and figuring out nutrients. Your videos are very peaceful and enjoyable to watch and learn from. Please keep them coming.
@@jerfguy You can probably use a simple aquarium "can" filter (or possibly DIYing this) for keeping things in check, provided algae aren't taking over.
Great sharing your process.
Amazing setup!
Excellent information 🤓 Thanks for sharing!
Very nice setup. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, happy to share
Great and simple video brother
Thanks for sharing 👍.
I have found you on fb loved your videos on there and now just subbed to your CZcams love your videos and hope you keep making more you inspire me to garden more🥰
Beautiful
Hey! Could please make a video showing how you dose your systems using the natural fertilizer? Also show the pH and EC levels you normally shot for? Thank you
Love its
Awesome video and I love your setup. I actually LOL'ed when I saw a Skyflakes container coz I also use them for my Kratky.
Lol, what better way to reuse a Skyflakes container! 😅
Where do you source the seaweed from?
Great video
Great video.
Love from India 💖🌸
This is the future
Amazing thank you 😊❤️🙏
Thank you, happy to share! 💚
Thank you for the concise information about hydroponics! Your vegetables look AMAZING!!! I'd like to try the type of nutrient you create. Have you ever used any other type of nutrient?
Great video. I've got the same grow tent and a similar exhaust fan. Any recommendations on grow lights and how many you need? I'm going to use your setup as a reference since you're doing basically what I want to do.
SWEET ❤

Hi love your setups. I just started growing hydro. I started withthe net cups and clay. Then i tried using pool noodles which to me i like better. I started my seedligs on the clay balls but i didnt like because they just went everywhere. I see where u use dirt and just wash roots. Havent tried that. I now am doing experiment starting seedlings on cotton balls. Squash cucumber lettuce cabbage did fine but was not successful with pea seed. To wet i think got mushy. The pepper seed has not done anything. Anyways just sharing different ideas. Thx for sharing.
You have made me want to start growing hydroponically as well as growing outside in my garden! I have just ordered everything i need and getting started as soon as i can! Thank you for this information! Love from Toronto ❤️
As something to start seeds in try cotton balls they are cheap and work great!
Hi, Thank you for the video.
Please is there an alternative to kelp?
Tuyệt vời
So much work
Hi! Can you please share where I can buy the seaweed and kelp? Your video has inspired me to give this a shot! Keep up the great work! :)
Love this! Also, I spy your Skylake box. 😂 🇵🇭
When using a hole saw, run the drill in reverse it'll still cut but won't split plastics
skyflakes container will help it more grow quicker!!😁😁😁😁
What tomato varieties have you had the best luck with? I’m in zone 9a and will be trying to do this outside. I’ll use shade cloth when it gets hot. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
Just stumbled on your channel, super informative, thank you!! I have most of what I need to start growing indoors but I have a concern about mice/ rats entering my shed where the tent will be. Any thoughts or advice?
What are your views on adding live fish to the tanks for fertilizer?!..
Thank you po sir
Salamat
Please can you list some of the home made nutrients and how to administer them.
Thank you
Maravilhoso seu usar apenas o humos de ninho serve ?
curious if pitch dark is necessary to fruit berries. I noticed you have a tent and use the grow light 12 hours at night. how dark does the garden need to be?
Container size should be 10gallon 0:42
What grow lights are you using in this video? Thank you!
Do you use any fan, exhaust or ventilation system? If not, do you have mold problem in the tent?
What light are you using ? And what strength are you using it on ?🙂
Where do you get your kelp? I've only been able to find the dried seaweed snacks.
Hi have you tried FFJ, FAA, FPJ, CALPHOS, EPSOM, DRIEDSEAWEEDS mixture as nutrients for hydrophonics?
See 👀 organic hydroponic this is important bone heads we need healthy hydro options blessed ✨
More videos plssss 😊
Thank you for this! We will keep making videos💚
Where do you get the container and grow light? I have been using Brute containers but these look better would like to try them
Hello, thank you for the excellent video. But I have a question: Do you put an oxygen pump inside a container for making compost tea? Or do you not put an oxygen pump just the ingredients and water and leave it for 24 hours and use it? Ok, I took enough of it from the rest of the compost tea. Does it remain in the same container in which it was made until the time for use comes and add it to the hydroponic plant? . I have another question: How much do you add again to the hydroponic system of compost tea? Is it the same amount that is estimated from tea to 5 amounts of water? Is it possible to grow using the Karakti system without an oxygen pump for the plant, and will it grow and bear fruit? Thank you very much and I hope you can answer every question🥰🌹
It is Great video. For me who is thinking to start grow indoor. It is very inspiration because I was a bit worried about the chemical which using in normal hydroponic system 🙂 Do you give the plants something else more? or only these your own natural liquid nutrients.
Hydroponics can seem intimidating, but once you start it gets easier. I've been experimenting with natural nutrients and this seems to work well for what I'm growing. I'm looking to try and add other ingredients like banana peel and egg shells.
I just ordered everything I need to make a system like this! The only question I have is how high should the water level be? I am wanting to get a floating valve so it automatically keeps the water level, but I don’t know how high to place it. Any advice @Planted in the Garden?
If you do hydrophonic gardening, you don't need a sunlight? Thanks for the response
what kind of lights are those?
I need to know more about lights, you haven't mentioned details and a link
I found this video when searching for homemade organic nutrient solution to use in a kratky system. Do you think the "brew" will be ok to use in a system without aeration, for short-term plants like leafy greens? (I'm trying to use as little electricity as possible.) I'd aerate during the making, just not after the plants are in it.
I use it in a Kratky system and in DWC the brew seems find. But I have it set up in my garage for the winter which keeps the water cold.
So inspiring, this video makes me wanna start my own ondoor garden. However since I live in a hot country, during summers the temp.goes 41c , is it possible for me to grow salads lettuce and kale??
Thank you. That's pretty hot! We grow lots of greens like lettuce and kale with hydroponics, they do really well!
Why do we need the air pump and stone if Kratky method does not need it? Can't I just put a 2" hole on opposite sides to create air flow?
Sorry if this is an often asked question, but does it work out cheaper for you to grow like rather than buying from a supermarket?
I didn't ever known you can do this legitimately yourself and very naturally as well. Air pumping though will probably set you back even more than some decent grow lights though.
We didn't know either until we started researching. We used to buy liquid nutrients, then experimented with making our own naturally and the plants did even better. We keep experimenting to find the best solution too. The initial investment cost money, but we feel it's well worth it. The amount of food you can grow through the years will make up for it.
@@plantedinthegarden Exactly, personally I am making the best of many systems at once. So I am doing "sorta" like a dual root setup myself with vermicomposting thrown in. Low tech, very low budget needed, etc.
I saw you are using grow tent. Do I really need it to set up hydroponics. I’m just concerned with aphids. Thanks
For the 4 hole containers what do you consider large plants above kale?
You can grow eggplants or peppers in them
How much watt you need for every level? How do you calculate it?
hi can share your type of grow light
Say, do you change the water in you hydroponics.
I'm using the kratky method and honestly i added just enough nutrients so the water is still relatively clear as Im afraid it would cause bad bacteria to fester. Am I starving my plants??
Hello I am new to the Hydroponics thing but would love to try this and be able to grow my own food year round but I have some concerns about growing food inside of plastic containers , totes etc. no one really talks about the plastic and chemicals that the plastic may put off and the plant root absorbing harmful chemicals through the roots that the plastic maybe giving off what are your concerns if any about this ?
Would 10 gallon totes be to big for this setup? The store near me doesn't have the 3 gallon.
The video said to use 3 gallon but in the video description it has been corrected to 10 gallon bins. 3 gallon is incorrect and too small anyways.
👍🌺👍🌺👍🌺
Hey mate, I have a very large worm farm and produces many litres of worm juice every day which leaks out the bottom into a bucket. Can you recommend an amount that I might add to my 5 gallon bucket?
This is crazy cool! But you need a stone for each container??? .... Well I found them. Thanks for the link. How long do they last?
I used leca as a medium per plant because they last a long time. Just rinse and reuse
Are these plastic totes safe to grow food on?
cut the holes with the drill in reverse
This might be an absolutely stupid question, as I’ve never grown DWC. When you are adding new plants to your dwc, do the nutrient levels not drop off and the seedlings have no means of getting. To the water yet? Or is that more of a problem with Kratky?
Depending on the water level and available nutrients. If the level is high enough, I will top off with a bit of water until it teaches the seedling roots. If the water is low, it’s best to change it completely
I'm just starting out with a couple of 3 gal bins (as you have shown), do you have any recommendation on the number of plants per bin?
He mentioned it in the video. His recommended number of holes for the plant types.
So the airpump is for? Can you share po the lighting that you used and how much intensity to avoid leaf burn...🎉🎉🎉
what watt pump would you recommend and can I use my liquid worm hummus?
I would say depends on how many bins you want to set up. I use a pump with 4 outlets but I wished I went with because I ended up expanding with more bins😅 for cheap pumps you can use fish tank pumps. You can checkout my recommendations on Amazon for reference tr.ee/nbAjoFPaX5
@@plantedinthegarden Unfortunately fish pumps are not that cheap anymore. A "max" eight gallons' Mejers' very basic pump with one outlet with tubing and a very small air stone set me back almost 20 bucks...
