    Listen to the muaic: drums, alpenhorna, trumpets, and modern music. Also there are monks chanting since Munich means "place of the monks."

    Munich 1972 for German car BMW. Athens 1896, Paris 1900, St. Louis 1904, London 1908, Stockholm 1912, Berlin 1916 has been canceled from WWI. Antwerp 1920, Paris 1924, Amsterdam 1928, Los Angeles 1932, Berlin 1936, Tokyo 1940 & London 1944 has been canceled from WWII. London 1948, Helsinki 1952, Melbourne 1956, Rome 1960, Tokyo 1964, Mexico City 1968 & Munich 1972.

    This is one of those cases where learning a language has unexpected advantages, because I can understand most of what the announcer was saying.

      His name is Gunther Zahn. He was a champion long distance runner at that time.

      Gunter Zahn 18-year-old West German junior athlete and a policeman, carried the Olympic Flame and lit the cauldron. He was followed by America's Jim Ryun; Kenya's Kipchoge Keino; Australia's Derek Clayton; and Japan's Kenjio Kiminara.

      in 1972 the cauldron was lit by Günther Zahn. in 1936 it was lit by Fritz Schilgen.

      Günter Zahn was 18 years old when he carried the torch in 1972. In 1936 he was -18. So yeah, same guy 👍🏻👏🏻
