Honestly, clean needles is a huge help. Truth is u can get into a detox and rehab pretty much same day u call, and they'll give u an apt for like 6 months to a year and a job. All u gotta do is stay clean and pass tests. The root of the problem is not drugs, it's society. Whatever it is there is something causing these people to do this. Rather it's depression, or trying to look cool by doing hard drugs or what but somethings wrong and it's hard to fix something when you don't know the problem
Because there is literally no way to stop the drugs from spreading at this point the least they can do is make it so people don’t have to get their arms cut off anymore

Back when I was a teenager in the sixties these things happened but other drugs were used that were available, Metholated spirits home grown poppy seeds, which now is illegal to grow. The only difference now days is that in the sixties this man would have been put into a psychiatric centre. The psychiatric facilities were everywhere no shortages for rooms back then.
