I honestly needed to hear this. I am a revert who has just started madrassa. I consider myself modest enough(i never show skin apart from face, hands&feet) all my clothes are loose and almost always paired with an open abaya. Majority of girls in my madrassa wear a burka. They often make comments like “its ok you will get there one day, you will wear good clothes one day” or “now you must change your clothes and wear these” so I am confused and overwhelmed. I constantly have to calm myself down and just trust Allah to see me through these difficulties.

Asalamalaikum sister. this is such a lovely video. thank you. All your videos are so aspirational. As a new-ish muslimah who doesn't wear hijab full-time (yet), this means a lot to hear. Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless you!

I do agree with this message in part, yes its true we don't judge someone by outside fully but we shouldn't ignore it fully either, we should if anything try to use wisdom in our dawa and take a middle path because or be as you said modest in oneself by giving advice and kindly leaving without burning any bridges if they refuse our advice.

An immodest woman gets double the sin. She is causing others to fall into sin as well as herself. The. scarf is bare minimum concerning the dress code sister. Even if people have personal sins they aren’t doing it in public. Of course modesty is much more than dress, but that doesn’t excuse anyone to abandon the dress code prescribed by Allah.

I tried asking a muslim friend of mine this question, but he got very upset with me. So I never got an answer, and now I am asking you, an internet stranger. Why is it required of women to cover themselves, but not of men? Are men exempt from modesty? Why? Men are not ugly or unattractive. Men showing off their hair, legs and arms should be discouraged as well by the logic of modesty in islam. And nobody but their wives should be allowed to see their beauty.
If you are up for it, can you tell me why he got upset? In my environment, asking questions is something encouraged to chilldren. It's not seen as disrespectful, but as a healthy curiosity that should be encouraged, because it brings you closer to other people. Hence we are raised this way. I think it might have something to do with that, and he saw my question as disrespectful and perceived it as an attack based on how I phrased it, but aslo because of his upbringing.
