It's all very well to buy all those miniatures, but what do you do with them?

- Day 68 in my 'A Year in the Life of a Miniaturist' video diary sees me back in Martinborough, reflecting on all I learned at the Sydney Miniature Fair. And, I am already finding new homes for some of my purchases. For example the miniature brass instruments I bought are a perfect fit in the Terry Pratchett based Music Shop room box that I featured in an earlier post. I'm also back working on my miniature steampunk mansion: got to get all the walls straight before I can finish decorating it! Only a week or so now until finished I am thinking. For now, regards, Jill.
I agree Jill and also think it a shame when I see home-made, carefully crafted items in the op shop discarded by family. We can only be gratefully that they are not in land-fill. I try to respect the maker by buying them and often finishing or repurposing them in their honour. This way every item has a story to tell.
Same with old houses. I have several I saved that have wonderful back-stories.
You are so welcome 🤗
Very very nice!😊
Thank you Irene
You are so welcome 🤗
That was lovely thankyou ❤😊
Thanks Suzanne
Welcome back.. And good on Ray😊
Yes, he's a good bloke, as they say in OZ!
Lovely pieces
Hi Grace, they do fit in well, don't they. Regards, Jill
I love the feet , I went to Sydney once for a cake decorating class and must say I was glad to get back home 😂
The traffic is crazy. 3 cars in the main street is a traffic jam in little old Martinborough, so a visit to any big city and it's traffic is always a bit of a shock :)
New subscriber ❤ I'm going to check out issue 6 to see Ray's mansion
Hi, thank you for following my channel. Any feedback always really appreciated. When I referred to Issue 6, I meant Issue 6 of my magazine. Are you already a subscriber? If not, more info here: miniaturetimetraveller.com
I'll see if I can get a link to share if you cannot access the magazine directly. Regards, Jill.
@miniaturetimetraveller Thank you!
I'm almost 85 and still buying minis and working on a big project. It will probably end up being split into boxes and bags and donated to a thrift store, which will be a shame as many of the items are antiques or items worth money. Is it a good idea to made tiny tags and put them on bottom of the items? I have many of the receipts but they are loose in folders, plus I made many from components, etc so that complicates things. I would love suggestions!
Hi Maroulio, I know how you feel. I too have some antique pieces that would be a crime for family to sell at a Op Shop!! What I did, Is I made a list of my important pieces, took photos, and stuck in the information in the folder that has my will and other important stuff in it. Fortunately I have a daughter-in-law who appreciates the pieces (sadly not a miniaturist though). Warm regards, Jill.
