Blind Guardian is a German band, and the festival is in Germany, so that's probably why Hansi was speaking German during the interludes. What you'll find though with a lot of European metal is that the songs are sung in English because it's basically the "universal language". Basically it's all we speak here in the States, but everywhere in Europe, English is pretty much everyone's second language regardless of where they are from.
Ist was 2016 in Wacken. I was there at that time and was singing at the top of my lungs
Yeah the american ignorance at its best !
Most International touring bands from Germany all sing in English because in reality, English is the universal language. Most bands and artist that sing in their native language never break out of their own country, which is the cold hard facts. Rammstein is one of the few exceptions when a band from another country was able to break out of their own country singing lyrics in their own native language. This was partially due to the time and era they came from. Rammstein happened to break out during the NuMetal explosion of the late 90s, had an actual hit single on US Rock radio and also went on the very successful Family Values tour in the US which also featured Korn, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube on the bill. This helped them out tremendously making a name for themselves not only in the States but also internationally as well. In Germany there is a whole scene of bands that are in the same style as Rammstein (called Neue Deutsche Härte which is roughly translated as "New German Hardness"). Yet none of these bands ever broke out of Germany quite like Rammstein has.
Blind Guardian, while very popular in Germany and other parts of Europe, never made it in the US. However, because they sing entirely in English, they happened to get a very small but loyal fan base in America and Canida. Blind Guardian happen to be one of my favorite band of all time. I've been a fan of them since 1997 and their music ages like a fine wine. It just sounds better as the years go by.
@@theicedevil You forgot to mention, that they are also really popular in Japan.
Blind Guardian ARE Wacken and Wacken is Blind Guardian!....the GREATEST German Metal Festival for now over 30 Years ! and with about 90.000 Metalheads every Year....raise your Horns on your way to WALLHALLA!
Wished to go to Wacken again once more... This is the greatest party ever :)
It is the worlds greatest metal festival not only the Germans greatest... love it. Worked there for almost 10 years.
i just got tickets for 2024! it's amazing! also there are people from all over the world lol
zuviel tourismus, zuviele menschen die nix mit dem material zutun haben, überteuert sowieso
I was in this crowd. Still getting goosebumps. I can't describe how it felt being part of this
I watched reactiona on the original video like 50 times and getting goosebumps every time. And I wasn't even there. Saw them at asmall show with only about 300 People, once. It was awesome.

even better was the way back to the campgrounds everyone was still singing love it
WACKEN is a week of insanity. There's a really cool documentary on it in English. I've been 3 times and needed another two weeks vacation days after it to recover. It is so amazing because just about every big league metal band WANTS to play Wacken at least once. For whatever reason. But sheesh does it kick rump. You should hop over one year and do skits there, that is SURE to be fun and flames.
Best festival in the world 🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🍻🍻🍻
All metalheads must experience at least 1 in their life Wacken !
\m/ \m/ \m/ brothers !!!
I made the mistake once to end my vacation the day I got home from Wacken and I was dead at work ha ha. Never made that mistake again.
So true
Well,....Blind Guardian has been here for a while.
Blind Guardian is a German power metal band formed in 1984 in Krefeld, West Germany.
They are often credited as one of the seminal and most influential bands in the power metal and speed metal subgenres. Nine musicians have been a part of the band's line-up in its history, which currently consists of singer Hansi Kürsch, guitarists André Olbrich and Marcus Siepen and, since 2005, drummer Frederik Ehmke.
So,...The Bard's song... medieval is a correct term, forget everything core-related!
In Celtic cultures, a "BARD" is a professional storyteller, verse-maker, music composer, oral historian and genealogist, employed by a patron (such as a monarch or chieftain) to commemorate one or more of the patron's ancestors and to praise the patron's own activities.
This song is about the bard's life... Each day finds them in a new place, where no one knows who they are. All they know is the songs the bards sing and the worlds they are taken to by them. When it's all said and done the bards pack up and moves on, no one to ever know their name, only the stories they brought with them. It's about how they did it all for the music and the stories. And the bard's songs will remain. In my thoughts and in my dreams.
AND next,... Valhalla !!!
"Valhalla" is Old Norse and it means "halls of the slain". In Norse Mythology it's where Odin and the Valkyries (Floor 😉) lived and where the souls of warriors fallen in battle went. And then at Ragnarök (the end of the world) they all get to fight Jormungandr and Fenrir (Floor's "little" dog is named after this beast of a Wolf 🙃).
Like all of Blind Guardian's other songs, this one is a little cryptic. The basic idea is obvious but because they lyrics don't use many names and they describe nothing except for feelings and atmosphere.
Every self respected D&D Player should know Bind Guardian .
NWSU/FloorFan/Metalhead 🤘😎🤘
Did not know about the background of the Bard's Song. I learned something today. 😊
Als kleiner Anhang würde ich vielleicht noch hinzufügen das man das gesamte Album Nightfall in Middleearth hören sollte. Das ist kein Album in dem Sinne sondern eine Geschichte.
I was at this show. i have not cried so much at any show ive been to since. the pure joy of seeing this in person with all these people and some of my best friends at my side. 56 days till WOA 2023. and i could not be more hyped already. You should check a Heaven Shall Burn performance of Valhalla at Wacken.
The Bards Song is something like the Anthem of Blind Buardian and every Guardian knows this song by the heart. Its from 1992 but its an evergreen. Everyone knows this song, everyone is singing it and it will never die. I stopped listening to BG like 20 years ago, but i still remember every line in this song and sing along. :D
nope every metal head knows it :)
One of those songs you have to know like "Walk", "Raining Blood", "Master of Puppets", "Ace of spades" or "Paranoid" i'd say...
Valhala is from ever earlier - '89! :)
I stopped "listening" too, actually stopped liking the new works, I'm still listening with great pleasure to all their albums and every song of before Thomen 'The Drummer Omen' Stauch left and Hansi and Andrè started going too "progressive" and "modern"... Actually they became just dull. But at the live shows it's a different thing! :)
Others have probably said it, but Blind Guardian is one of the premier bands of the "power metal" genre, and the "bardcore" label is more or less given to them jokingly since their lyrical themes are typically rooted in fantasy (they have an entire concept album about the Lord of the Rings). Power Metal is fast tempo, clean singing (aka little to no growling), and uplifting and catchy choruses. Early Nightwish was pretty much symphonic power metal.
Thats a good summary of the Genre.
No, they are not ONE of the premier bands, they are *THE* premier band that brought power metal into the genre.
I've never heard of them ever referred to a Bardcore. They have always been referred to as The Bards Of Metal. When I look up Bardcore, I see musicians playing various cover versions of popular hip-hop and rock song but performed in Medieval Folk music style with authentic Medieval musical instruments of the Medieval times. Blind Guardian doesn't really do that. They made some original songs that are played in the Medieval style (like The Bard Song here) but it's not entirely with authentic Medieval instruments, and it's a handful of songs. The rest are straight up Power Metal.
@@LadyDragonsblood Nanana, Wikipedia.de "Großer Vorreiter des Genres war die deutsche Band Helloween". ;-P Although I'd say that the first songs/records of both bands are probably more speed metal than power metal. But certainly "Keeper of the seven keys" is Power Metal and one of the first 'true' Power Metal albums, at least imo.
Hansi (the singer) is a 1st class composer imho who understands how to work with the crowd.
The most mind blowing thing here is that easily 70% of the crowd has never been on a Blind Guardian concert. But if you live in Germany ist really hard to come past by Blind Guardian. You know it and acknowledge it. Even if it is normally not your type of music, Blind Guardian ist just so good that you can't ignore it.
Wacken is a very, very, very small nothern german town (about 300 people live there). But on its farmland takes place one of the biggest worldwide metal festivals with about 70k people. blind guardian is a german band which does a lot of this medieval sounding music
not a very, very, very small town but a not so small village with around 2000 inhabitants to be correct.☝🙂
Oh by the way: BP, you are just about spot on: The bard's song is kinda like the "Braveheart" battle-speech. Valhalla (Norse/Scandinavian mythology) is the "hall of slain warriors" - so yes: Chapter One: Motivade. Chapter Two: Battle and march towards Valhalla.
I always interpreted the song to be about a bard traveling town to town and singing his songs. people won't remember the bard himself but will still remember the song years later. that was always the core message for me. you remember the song but the musician is forgotten just as he leaves town. like its aboout the art and not the glory.
Blind Guardian is a power metal band and their songs are epic fantasy themed. Bard core is totally different thing and has nothing to do with this band.
If your looking for Viking themed band Amon Amarth is a MUST for you (Check this out Amon Amarth - The Pursuit of Vikings - Live at Summer Breeze (OFFICIAL))
Amon amarth guardians of asgard is awesome
well, Amon Amarth is a melodic death metal band so totally different from this, both are awesome though.
@@Templarofsteel88Melodeath and power metal are very related though, both have extremely catchy melodic guitar leads, fast tempo’s, and fun choruses… just melodeath is a lot more death metal (they are both like this as they originate from NWBHM bands in terms of sound)
Dont go too far in sub-gendra , those two ignorant will get nose bleed
@@anthonysoulard9938 i was thinking about "Diggy hole" maybe Windrose is too complex?
You should go to Wacken, there is nothing like standing in the middle of 80.000 Metalheads from all over the world and you all sing the same song. You will never feel so vulnerable and indestructible at same time.
80.000 people was the pre pandemic audience sizes
With Wackens Comeback last year,
the organizer’s have increased the size w0.00000 restirced 😊 to 100.000 available tickets
if you substract the festiv-tourists you'll have 80000 again 😇🤘
Bards were traveling musicians back in those days, traveling from town to town and singing about news from other parts of he country. Bard Core is called another music style where you take a modern song and playing it only with medieval instruments like a hurdy gurdy.
Odin's ravens are called Hugin and Munin 😉
In case you didn't know it: Valhalla is the great hall in Asgard, the city of the norse gods. Warriors who fought bravely and died in battle are allowed to enter Valhalla and drink with the gods until Ragnarök, the last battle.
Slight correction: Valhalla is where *half* of the fallen warriors go to eat and drink with *one* god (Odin, who himself only drinks and gives the boar's meat to his wolves) and only during the night because they fight each other all day long. The other half goes to Freya in Sessrumnir in Folkwang (and she even gets the first pick if i remember correctly).
@@BeOtterMyFriendwasn't it more of a "The people, who die weapon in Hand in Battle go to Valhalla and the other Brave warriors go to Folkwang" kind of deal?
@@p3chv0gel22 Nope, as far as I know Freya (as leader of the Valkyries) takes half of the fallen warriors and the other half goes to Valhalla.
There might not be many of us, but the ladies who do like Blind Guardian and Powermetal REALLY like it :D
They were the first band I bought tickets for when I was 14 and I still go to every tour! There's just nothing like it. It's such a joyful, wholesome (even if uncomfortably sweaty lol) experience to be squeezed between all those hairy old men and sing every song along fully!
Their new album 'The God Machine' is absolute fire! It includes the songs ' Blood of the Elves' which is about the Witcher series and 'American Gods' which is about Neil Gaiman's series of the same name :D
Greetings dear sister in metal
@@annarend7056We gotta stick together
TLDR: For everyones Convience imma list the lyrics for both songs, which will be seperated by a line.
the rest is just background info on the genre of The Bard song.
no this isn't Bardcore or BardCore (the latter is in reference to Ren's genere)
This is more Nordic, Saxon type music. which was very popular in North-eastern Hemisphere of the world.
while Bards Were mostly Celtic in those times,
the music Recieved more Nordic and Saxon Influence.
okay, first we fellow Circle of Bards should define what a true Bard is.
Noble and Lord folk refeered to them as Minstrels, the more Mordern term we call them are Folk Singers
(however the genre has Strayed as instruments have evolved)
However in the last few Decades The Name "Bard" has started taken stage again with Bardcore and BardCore with Ren.
But a Basic Rundown on what a Minstrel / Bard was in those times.
A Bard was a traveling Musician Catering to every small towns entertaining with the use of Story telling, Singer of Songs and Charsimatic Speech to Enctrance them into every word they say From Inn's, Taverns, to Street Corners.
While in a more Higher Station Being Personal "Minstrels" or "Jesters" for Lords or Kings
while 2-3 Centories later / 200-300 years later the more Preformance / Satire of the Trade were Eventurally Refeered to as Harlequins in the 1900's by the French.
The best real Example is the preformer Joey Batey who sings the Song "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" in the Netlfix Tv series "The Witcher"
Fun Fact: Bards are the origins of Telling Scary / Ghost Stories around a camp fire, as Bards were commonly Hired by nobles or Mercinries to Entertain them during Travel and before Battle.
while the Song "The bards Song" is more of a Seashanty type song but for a travelling musician I.e A Bard.
its actual Genre is Poetry / Tourist / Melodic & According to Hansi Kürsch the Lead Singer he considers it Metal.
(imo i dont agree with the metal tag, i would call it more of a Sea shanty / Tourist / melodic Genre)
i might aswell mention but the song was heavily inspired by the game The Bards Tale in 1945.
For my Fellow Circle of Bards that want to give any more info feel free to Correct me in certain Areas.
(my knowledge of the Bands Music is less than ideal so im sure someone can give more than me)
I'm not a big fan of watching a live video is only beause the audiance can really drag the preformances down.
WHICH im not saying happened here what so ever.
but in saying that, For those who Couldn't / cant Hear or catcht the lyrics or wants a Translation for the Valhalla,
here is the Lyrics below Seprated by Lines for each song.

The Bard's Song
[Verse 1]
Now you all know
The bards and their songs
When hours have gone by
I'll close my eyes
In a world far away
We may meet again
But now hear my song
About the dawn of the night
Let's sing the bard's song
[Chorus]
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
The fear of today
It will be gone
Due to our magic songs
[Verse 2]
There's only one song
Left in my mind
Tales of a brave man
Who lived far from here
Now the bard songs are over
And it's time to leave
No-one should ask you for the name
Of the one
Who tells the story
[Chorus]
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow all will be known
And you're not alone
So don't be afraid
In the dark and cold
Cause the bard's songs will remain
They all will remain
[Outro]
In my thoughts and in my dreams
They're always in my mind
These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men
And elves
Come close Your eyes
You can see them, too

Vahallah
High in the sky where eagles fly
Morgray the dark enters the throne
[Verse 1:]
Open wide the gate, friend
The king will come
Blow the horn and praise
The highest Lord
Who'll bring the dawn?
[Verse 2:]
He's the new god
In the palace of steel
Persuade the fate of everyone
The chaos can begin
Let it in, ha-ha
[Pre-Chorus 1]
So many centuries
So many gods
We were the prisoners
Of our own fantasy
But now we are marching
Against these gods
I'm the wizard, I will change it all
[Chorus:]
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Oh-oh-oh-oh Valhalla
[Guitar Solo: André Olbrich]
[Chorus:]
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Valhalla, deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me?
Oh-oh-oh-oh Valhalla
[Verse 3:]
Magic is in me
I'm the lost magic man
Never found what I was looking for
Now I found it but it's lost
[Verse 4: ]
The fortress burns
Broken my heart
I leave this world
All Gods are gone
[Pre-Chorus 2:]
So many centuries
So many gods
We were the prisoners
Of our own fantasy
But then we had nothing
To lead our life
No, no, we can't live without gods
[Chorus: ]

Great reaction boyz! Never listened to blind guardian before but i enjoyed this
Huginn and Munnin are the crows maybe misspelled but that approximately.
Hugin and Munin, they were ravens I believe.
Can't wait for this one! Blind Guardian are legends and esp. Wacken honors their legends! EnJOY
'The Bards Song' is one of those songs that makes people realize how awesome the power of music is!! 🤘🏻
Can I request if you want to dip your toes in the Viking vibe that you try Wardruna and Aurora doing Helvegen. They definitely reference Odin. This is a pretty please request😁🦇
damn fine selection there :D
Yep, would recommand that, too. It's pure nordic energy and nearly hypnotic. And both (Aurora and also Wardruna) are amazing in so different kinds. Love 'em.
Blind Guardian are ones who took part in creating Power Metal subgenre (they are kinda legends) . It is kinda metal music you listen and sing along while having a beer with buddies. Simple catchy choruses etc. And they are mostly about fantasy (like lord of the rings stuff) or science fiction (space wars etc). Bands who plays that often thinks about themselves as modern bards.
Wacken is world biggest metal festiwal taking place in August in north west Germany. It is so glorious that it has it own beer pipeline so they were not bothered by barrels or bottles. And it is a week of all kind of metal. So, imagine, legendary German metal band in German metal festival with audience that grow on their music.
Oh u finally did this --- so awesome --- seen them live so many times and once u been in this audience and witness the feeling u get by just watching --- hope u enjoyed ...
One of the best concerts I ever attended. The feeling in the crowd was magical.
This! Was part of my bucket list to sing the Bard's Song with them and I could fulfill it at Wacken back then
When 800.000 people sing your songs for you, you have achieved greatness.
There's a video floating around on CZcams of Hansi losing control of the crowd at the end of Valhalla. The crowd just carried on singing for a good 10 minutes after the end of the song.
Blind Guardian is so good. would love to see you do more of them!
I love blind guardian so much!!! They are amazing.
I got to see them live in a small theater in Atlanta and he grabbed my hand. So cool!
i love it so much when people from different music genres enjoy stuff that is completely different to the music they normal listen to or make
I assume you are US Americans. Did you know that lots of Germans speak quite fluent English, not American English but British or Irish English 😀
I've seen them 4 times and me and my husband just bought tickets for this September. The Bard Song and Valhala is one of those songs that haunt the concert battlegrounds all over the world! They wanted to write the LOTR soundrack long before the trilogy was ever announced. But they are a power metal band. Since 1984! \m/ \m/ If you havent sang Valhalla, deliverance,
Why've you ever forgotten me? with them and to them.. you have missed in life.
Being in the middle of any Wacken crowd when Blind Guardian is playing is an incredible experience ! My first big festival was wacken 2011, I was barely 18 and took a bus from France to Germany to go there. Most of the ~10h drive was spent singing blind guardian songs and I loved every minute of it
Unfortunately I got my shoulder dislocated at the start of their show but with a quick help from the medics (and beer helped numb the pain) I was back before the end !
I lost my little brother once, when he was crowd surfing. We found him the next morning on the camping ground again. 😀
You should do something about their Album "Imaginations from the other side", which is themed around King Artus Saga. Or "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" as an Opus about Tolkien's Silmarillion. Both were pretty popular internationally.
40 Years is a good quote. This Band is in the business since 40 years.
Dudes, you should do Ensiferum “Lai Lai Hei” live in Wacken. They are a Viking Metal band with folkloric and symphonic elements. Then you will really be in “The Last Kingdom”.
And if you want some epic symphonic medieval metal check out Rhapsody’s “Epicus furor/ Emerald Sword” or Luca Turilli’s “King of the Nordic Twilight”
liked before stream start :D
Bruh. Blind Guardian is my favorite concert I've ever gone to still to this day. I drank a bunch of vodka and red bull and sang my heart out as loud as I could for an hour and a half
Europe has a lot of good bands, but unfortunately many don't get that much attention because of the US music market that spends millions around the world to promote its music.
Between 1990/2000 BG strangely have been extremely popular in Japan, tbey even recorder a live Album over there called "tokyo tales"
Great that you got that🤟🎤🎸
There's actually 2 bard songs by blind guardian what you heard was "In the forest" the other one is "The hobbit"
There are ladies! We blend in with the long haired men. :P You can see a row of them in the front and heads poking out. We are usually guarded by male friends and bfs if we are with them. It sometimes gets "crowded". ;)
My first BG concert and the first concert I ever went to is still in my mind. It was in Belgrade, Serbia. I managed to run to the first row. I was pinned to the fence and my skin was bruised and bleeding where abdomen bones are. I only felt the pain after the concert. During the Nightfall song's chorus Hansi was singing directly in front of me and I raised my hand towards him to follow the rhythm. I will never forged the moment he grabbed my hand and for a couple of seconds he sang the chorus holding my hand and looking at me. I could not freaking believe it, for I wasn't expecting it. The time stood still! When other people saw it they all jumped on me to shake his hand. At that moment I was like "Yep, I am dead". For him it was 3 seconds. For me, it marked my entre life. Even 18 years later, I still remember it. Love them so so so much!
Every time I tell this story to people who are not familiar with BG, they think Hansi was some teen boy I fell for (since I was a teen back then). I always have to explain that no, this is something else. It is the total admiration for their pure artistic magnificence and talent.
The Bard's Song is about the Lord of the Rings. Lyrically, Blind Guardian is inspired by fantasy and sci-fi books. They have an entire album that is just dedicated to the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien (dude that wrote the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books). They write about mythology as well. Its basically anything "geeky" and I am absolutely all about it. They tell beautiful stories with amazing music.

"Bard" is an old english word that was used to refer to songwriters and poets. Shakespeare is often referred to as quite simply "The Bard".
The only thing I can tell you, I weep for you for having missed this in the last 30.
Valhalla! Deliverance, why’ve you ever forgotten me…
Translation what he says in the beginning:
Crowd: GUARDIAN! GUARDIAN! GUARDIAN!
We always like to come to Wacken. (rough translation)
I'd love to let you scream longer, but sadly we only have a little time left.
And we want to spend that with music.
I believe most of you know what comes next.
It has been legendary here from time to time. I have a feeling we will top this tonight.
Let's sing "The bard's song (In the forest)"
What he says in between the songs:
YOU'RE F**KING CRAZY!
Wacken: I nearly don't dare to say it... YOU'RE MORE EPIC THAN EVER!
We up here had a great time. We always liked coming to Wacken.
Sometime the time has come to move on. That time has come now.
We'll see each other somewhere.

I fucking love this band! I found them like 2 years ago and I’m gonna be seeing them here in Germany in September with my best friend (this band has really united our music taste, and some of my favorite memories are just listening to BG with her in my room!) I love their fanbase too cos of the massive devotion and the love and the energy- so just keep these coming, preferably live shows, and I guess about a 100 other people are already giving recommendations here anyways
Their concerts are amazing! I hope you have fun.

Thank you so much! Have you ever been to one?
@@Hammox I have. It was like ten years or so ago. They played in a small theater in Atlanta. There were probably only 100 people there. They still went all out and it was an amazing night.
hafe fun their concert are the best
I will try to explain the magic of wacken. We go there every year first year 2017. It is a very special place. It is the energy of the place. And the blind guardian will be there.
I love this song ❤❤❤
Since you didn't quite understand the lyrics of "the bard's song" acoustically...
The bard's Song
Now you all know
The bards and their songs
When hours have gone by
I'll close my eyes
In a world far away
we may meet again
but now hear my song
about the dawn of the night
Let's sing the bards' song
Tomorrow will take us away
far from home
no one will ever know our names
but the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
the fear of today
it will be gone
due to our magic songs
There's only one song
left in my mind
tales of a brave man
who lived far from here
now the bard songs are over
and it's time to leave
no one should ask you for the name
of the one
who tells the story
Tomorrow will take us away
far from home
no one will ever know our names
but the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow all will be known
and you're not alone
So don't be afraid
in the dark and cold
'Cause the bards' songs will remain
They all will remain
In my thoughts and in my dreams
they're always in my mind
These songs of hobbits, dwarfs and men
and elves
Come close your eyes
You can see them too
"youth pastor" is new, usually it is "math teacher" or "bank accountant" 😂
yeaaaaaah !! Valhalla !!!
Thank you for react to Blind Guardian. Hansis voive is awesome. Greetings from germany 🤘🔥
As people wrote, for Viking stuff try Wardruna. For a Celtic metal vibe, give Eluveitie a listen. 🤘🏻 from Germany
Since the ancient Romans and Celts and throughout the middle ages a bard was a traveling poet and singer who brought the stories of myths and legends and actual news from town to town in the form of songs. So that's the bard's song. Blind Guardian has always been heavily inspired by Tolkien, the lord of the rings and in general fantasy stuff. Last but not least ... vikings are also a very valued picture of a strong brotherhood of warriors which many people like a lot. Same thing with the Klingons from Star Trek. And Valhalla is their heaven, where warriors, that died in battle with sword in hand, sit and drink with the gods in eternity. If you put all that together, voilá, Blind Guardian. And by the way, many german bands, actually a lot of bands worldwide, are singing in English, because it gives them so much more listeners all over the world.
The names of Odins ravens are Hugin and Munin.
Odins ravens are Hugnin and Munin. Translates to thought and memory.
Blind Guardian has been in the business for over 30 years and is one of the big ones!
LOVE Blind Guardian!
Lol He absolutely speaks English. They did they entire Lord of The Rings soundtrack. I love them.
Great! Now on to Powerwolf, Sabaton, Feuerschwanz and In Extremo! And Saltatio Mortis, of course. You'll love it! Cheers from Germany
On of the titles that people ascribe to Blind Guardian is "The Kings of the Crowds". When they start up "Bard's Song" that crowd becomes a choir.
Wacken is a small village in nothern germany with arround 2000 people living there. One time per year there is WAO (Wacken Open Air) und arround 100.000 metalheads from all over the world join. If you like this kind of music you should visit wacken once in your lifetime you will not regret! Greetings from nothern germany
I was at this show pretty close to the stage, and I've got to say it might have been my favorite concert ever (and I've been to Rammstein four times, twice Metallica, Muse and so on). The atmosphere at Blind Guardian concerts is so wholesome on another level, and the Band really works hard to connect with the audience. I always get goosbumps at several moments during their set.
An Ultra old-school, classic Viking-/Warrior'ism True Metal STAPLE (while not always 100% serious, mind you) would be the band MANOWAR. English lyrics (except for one version of their own tune they recorded in German as a B-Side), pumped up homies in furs. Check out "Manowar - Hail and Kill (Istanbul 2005 - Yedikule Zindanları) Türkiye" (a live version).
Or turn to even more mysterious bard-ish, celtic, Viking metal with "Saltatio Mortis". Their evergreen "My mother told me (Official Music Video)" should inspire some laughs, some dropped jaws and some head-shaking 🙂
Check "Time stand still on the iron hill", or some of other older Blindguardian stuff
Now I'd love to see them reacting to "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce... and of course "We got the moves" by Electric Callboy... we are now going down the Metal rabbit hole... and maybe some Heilung (at best with "Norupo") and Wardruna (with Aurora and "Helvegen") later on xD.
Sabaton, AngusMcSix, Nanowar of Steel.....
i like your comments on these songs, but i also like that you've chosen the appropriate soundvolume for the musicvideo!
Blind Guardian is considered "power metal". Power metal is generally quite fast and melodic, with emphasis on the chorus. Themes are often about fantasy, sci-fi, and history. Valhalla is an early Blind Guardian song and as such is still has a lot influence from thrash metal.
What an atmosphere. You need to go to Europe BP and do some busking and go to some wild mega concerts. Boy does that sound like fun👍🦇
Some other very good rock/metal vocaliat are: Bruce Dickinson(iron maiden), Ozzy Osbourne(Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne), Ronnie James Dio(Rainbow, Dio, Black Sabbath), Freddy Mercury(queen), Eddie Vedder(Pearl Jam),Rob Halford(Judas Priest), Will Ramos(Lorna Shore), Eric Adams(Manowar), Chris Cornell(Soundgarden/Audioslave), Steve Perry (Journey), Robert Plant(Led Zeppelin), Ann Wilson(Heart), Floor Jansen(Nightwish), Maynard(Tool)
Goosebumps everythere, nothing can top an 90000 people chorus
This is the band's anthem song exclusively by the fans.
For me, "The bards song" is pretty much this Special feeling near the end of a concert, where you know it ends soon, you don't want it to end, you are kinda sad, but you know there will be another concert at some point
Funny enough, blind Guardian are sometimes refered to as "The Bards"
You got it man, the night before battle...the worry...the fear of death...the glory of battle. The Bard's Songs will remain.
This is Europe we are different!😂😂😂
many Blind Guardian songs are taking their inspiration from a Tolkien's work. Also Medieval subjects. The Bard's Song is actually inspired by a visit of a Castle in Germany and the PC Game "The Bard's Tale"
i once was at a blind guardian concert in the 90s where hansi was hardly on the stage during the bards song, the crowd did the whole thing...
Whenever I hear the Bard’s Song, i think about getting ready to go on a Quest. Singing songs before i go to seek treasure and fight dragons. When I die, the bard will sing songs of my heroic deeds
Love me some Blind Guardian good choice!
American people meets real music and audiance
love BG, somewhere far beyond is probably my favorite album from them...but i love the early stuff as well. imaginations was great too
the ravens names are hugin and munin
the horse is sleipnir (it ahas 8 legs and loki is its mother)
and the wolfes are called geri and freki
Just good, you buddies are reacting to the most popular german bands. Thanks to you, that you are making us proud listening to that kind of music. Music ist the reason, people are connecting to each other. Music is gathering us, gathering us to just one family. There is no difference between people, when listening to music. But thats not a battle march, please dont misconceive the lyrics by its meening. Much love!
Blind Gardian came from Hildesheim this in my homeland Germany the Band is German and the Wacken Open Air is one of the best Metall Metall Festival s in the wold
It's a royal stamp for any metal band, to be invited to Wacken to perform....and yes, its an invitation.
My start as a Metalhead was 1980 - today with 55 years and still long hair , is that normal Music for me - Heavy Metal was never boring or kidding me
Hey guys, the heavy medieval vibes are just within us ;-)
