I only randomly discovered them a month ago because of a random male cover by Dan Vasc. I was like okay, never heard of Nightwish before, looked them up, Finnish band eh? Hey that's my ancestry! Intriguing! However, I'm a 4th generation Finn, and unfamiliar with symphonic metal or popular music in Europe. Not a metal follower, but a film music fan! 😍 Long story short, I'm now OBSESSED with NIGHTWISH! ☺

To give you my story how I came across them:
There was this girl I knew from the internet, back in the day when there were these chat rooms existing. I met her there and we got along. We wrote some letters(!) to each other and finally met one day. She brought me a CD where she had collected some of her favorite songs that I might like, too. It just struck me when watching this video and asking myself "How did I actually come across Nightwish all these years ago?", that it was this girl and her CD.
So long story short, I started listening to it and went through the songs until I finally came across Ghost Love Score. What can I say. Everything just clicked and everything just seemed in place in this song like it's supposed to be. I was blown away and that song didn't wanna stop with its ~10minute length. And I didn't want it to stop haha. Every break that came I though the song is gonna be over, but no, it had just gone for 3, then 5, then 7 minutes and kept rocking on.
One amazing experience hearing it for the first time, just as you said.

Great Reaction. Floor Jansen, our Amazon Queen is 6''1" barefoot, 6' 4/5" on stage, although she's recently moved away from heels. She's Dutch and her name is Dutch for flower. She's got a powerful, athletic build, but most of her impact comes from her passionate, sincere, overwhelming stage presence. Her magical voice has been trained to excel in any genre. Her first gig as a metal front woman was when she was 16; is currently in her early 40s and pregnant with her second child. You'll be hard pressed to find a more modest, kinder, sweet person. Lives on a farm in a Swedish forest with cats, dogs and horses and she rides a Clydesdale and is learning dressage. Of course her 'dog" is a giant Irish Wolfhound. Celebrates the end of her concerts with a shot of whiskey and a cigar.
Ah....besides her animals she also live on her farm with her husband Hannes Van Dahl, drummer for the metal band Sabaton

Floor is 6'1" tall. She is married to the drummer of Saboton. They are expecting their second child. She previously fronted Master of Reality and ReVamped. She has classical training, She's a very nice person in real life speaks at least Dutch (her native tongue), Finnish, and English and she is the total fucking package. She can sing anything, pretty much any style. The rest of the band is primarily Finnish from Kittee Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player is the primary composer and arranger for the band.
The flaming steer heads is the logo for the annual Wacken (pronounced Vockin) Open Air Festival.
Floor Jansen is Nightwish's thirsd vocalist. She was preceded by She was preceded by Annette Olzon who replaced original vocalist Tarja (pronounced Tarya) Tarunen.
Floor joined this band officially in October 2012 mid tour when Annette was dismissed/fired/quit. If you watch Ghost Love Score Live in Buenos Aires, this was Floor right after she jumped into the band, maybe one or two weeks in and she still kills it.

Nightwish smash it out the park every time. 80,000 wild fans here at this concert, goosebumps when i was there and i first heard Floor at Wacken 2013 and still get goosebumps everytime.
The reason you've never heard of them is the sad state of American corporate radio. Metal bands like Nightwish, Sabaton, and many others can fill stadiums in Europe yet be completely ignored by US radio that would rather play whatever autotuned garbage or bland "butt rock" is being pushed by the major labels. I give full credit to the CZcams reactor community for introducing me to countless amazing bands I never would have even heard of if I stuck to what corporate radio and social media algorithms told me I'm supposed to like.

This symbol 🤘 was adopted into rock by Ronnie James Dio(from Dio the band). He is of Italian descent. He used to see his grandmother use 🤘 all the time.
In Italian superstition, the 🤘 is called "le corna"(the horns). When someone gives you the "evil eye"(known as the malocchio), or when you encounter bad luck, negative situations etc., you would use le corna, which represents the bull horns(and the strength/power of the bull) to ward off/fight the evil energy.

Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. The Valkyrie are the Viking equivalent of an angel. The lady front & center is Floor Jansen. On stage, she is a 6ft tall Valkyrie. Off stage, she is a wife, mother & humble girl next door. As amazing as that performance was back in 2013, she is even better now.
Nothing like angels, you would only meet a valkyrie if you died in battle to be taken to valhalla.

Floor Jansen is the Dutch queen of symphonic metal. Yes, they do still perform. They are getting ready to release a new record in later 2023. 🤘🤘Does not represent Satan. It is an Italian hand sign to ward off the evil eye. It is use as a sign of celebration of great metal music. The flaming steer head is the logo for this Festival. Wacken Germany is a big cattle producing area.

This Wacken (pron: VAW-Kehn) concert is a masterpiece of live recording and performance...you will see many performances from this show. (The flaming bull's skull is the symbol for The Wacken Open Air Festival...its not in any way Satanic) The orchestral music is performed by The London Philharmonic Orchestra, recorded and played back thru the Korg. And the thing w the pipes...is a custom wine rack (based on a piece of art) made of faux pipe organ pipes and converted into a keyboard stand. The man wandering the stage is guitarist Emppu Vuorinen. Each member is a world-class talent!

I am a Metal Head at heart. I have never been a fan of rap. I love watching younger generations that listen to rap discover a whole other world (mine) in music. By watching all of you react, I came across Nightwish. Now Nightwish is my favorite band with Sabaton a close 2nd (drummer is married to Floor Jansen who is the singing goddess of Nightwish- check out their stuff too!)
I was privileged to see Nightwish live at a intimate 5,000 person venue in Toronto at tail end of COVID-19, and be close to the stage. It was a musical experience far beyond anything I have ever seen. Incredible!!

This is the 13th song of a 15 song set hence the slight pauses ect , shout out to the drummer incredible never seen a double bass drum at the front before . The cheers when she came on is because this is the iconic song of this group and the fact that this is the third singer this band has had , and this is her first tour i believe

Plus she had been part of another band before this (for anyone who is curious, ReVamp is the name of that band). Considering this is Wacken Open Air, the largest annual metal festival in the world, if any crowd was going to know who she was so soon after joining, it was going to be this one.

Floor joined the tour in Oct 2012 in the US before they went to South America and further. This video at Wacken was in the following Summer 2013 European festival concert tour 10 months after she went on tour with Nightwish. Fans took notice after only a few shows how great Floor was with Nightwish.
Ghost Love score was added to the set because it was one Floor liked and she added her own flair at the end. All these songs were written for the 2 prior singers.
Floor and Troy ( did not play on this song) were announced to be official members of the band shortly after this show.
Yes the audience had seen Floor front other bands at Wacken, but this was the first time seeing her front Nightwish at this festival.
The audience was loving the show after seeing her a absolutely kill singing in 11 prior songs ( 1 instrumental). In Amaranth, Floor actually got the audience to perfectly sing some of the lyric lines. I think even Tuomas was amazed at the response.
The whole concert is magical and was recorded by the great Nightwish video production team. Nightwish even made a movie and there are lots of documentaries.

She motsly sings in Eglish....but also sings in Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian; Latin, Swedisch, Finnish
In one word, she is AMAZING

Our Valkyrie Goddess is Dutch but the band is from Finland. There is another band member, Troy, who is from England. He plays folk instruments and now does the backing male vocals. The bass player and drummer seen in this performance have retired from the band and have been replaced. Both of those replacements are from Finland. Our Goddess is the third lead singer for the band.
Hello Black Pegasus. Nightwish Army fan here. Welcome to our world of symphonic metal withour 6'1" (barefoot) 6'5" in boots, Valkyrie goddess, Floor Jansen (Yan-sen). Floor had only been with Nightwish 10 months at the time of this Wacken 2013 show and is still the Nightwish female lead vocalist. Floor has a husband who is the drummer for Sabaton, Hannes Van Dahl. The band is Finn, Floor is Dutch, , Troy, who you will meet is a multi instramentalist from Wales. The venue is in Wacken, pronounced Vacken, Germany 82,000 strong summer festival. Floor is classicly trained, tho she studied opera for only a year at the Netherland music academy. Floor is the third front woman, lead singer. First was Tarja, pronounced Tarya, second was Annetta Olsen, Floor joined in 2012

Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy.
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.

What you just experienced is what we refer to as a "Floorgasm", its that combination of awe, wonder, chills, and a tug on the heart strings, with that dopamine kick. Nightwish is super popular in Europe, Russia, other countries, not as much here, and I dont get it, bc theyre so amazing.
I don’t know if anyone has already mentioned it…but you’ve got the Nightwish Army awakened, so you’ll get a TON of messages from them. Specifically, I want to answer about the show itself…Wacken (pronounced ‘VAH-ken) is a metal festival in Germany annually. Given that this was an evening performance, I assume they were the headliner for this night of the festival. The flaming skull is a Wacken logo.
As for the bamboo pipe looking thing- that’s just stagecraft, sitting in front of the keyboard rig.

Kudos that you, as rap/hip artists, dive into other music genres. I call you musical explorers! And what gems are there to find. Nightwish is the most popular symphonic metal band and has been for many years. They do world tours regularly (currently in the east (Japan, Fillipines,etc) and south america). Although metal is their core music, it is always melodic, epic and divers. I have yet to hear a bad composition from them, or a bad performance. Saw them live last November and it was magical. Do yourself a favor and dive into their catalogue. As a reaction, please, yes. In private, I recommend you do. Just last week I stumbled on ine of their gems, it brought tears to my etes, so beautiful. That’s another thing, their music always has a story to tell, an emotional rollercoaster tomexperience. You saw tge crowd at Wacken respond. Well, besides Wacken there are many many live shows to explore with crowd going wild! Enjoy!
I love it that the music from my teens ( 70's) is making a great come back .This music is old fashioned as hell .Good thing btw .Adding an opera trainer singer is new and sounds perfect .What I love most of all that that old hippie music has made such a glorieus come back .
