- I found the Series 8 at Costco and wondered if it is comparable to the Series 9. If it is it would be a great way to save 50 bucks.
In this video i compare the shavers and give you my opinion after using them.

THIS IS NOT A BEAUTY CONTEST ABOUT SHAVERS ! WHO CARES WHAT the SHAVER LOOKS LIKE, IT WHAT IT DOES TO MY FACE THAT MATTERS. I GO WITH the 7👍
7 is the best. I have both of 7 and 9.
I have a series 7 from 2012. It has served me well and is still going strong. No electric shaver I have purchased has really given me the true closeness I’d like. However this is great for everyday shaves. Since I purchased so long ago, it doesn’t quite have all the features of the newer series 7s but i still like it. I was considering getting an 8 or 9 but I think I will wait based on this great honest review.
did you ever upgrade?
@@AhLottaAntwan no I didn’t. Rolling with till the wheels fall off. Lol
The series 7 is a beast. I truly indeed have sensitive skin and the adjustable speed feature is a lifesaver.
Keep making videos! Thanks Man 🙏
I have used a series 7 for many years. 2 or maybe 3 years ago my wife bought me a new series 7 because it was on sale at Costco . It’s still in the wrapper as there is no need to replace the old one.
Great and honest review. Thank you
Having tried all three myself.... the Series 7 wins, on all counts: reliable, availability of cheap cutters, Bosch electronics and easy to fix any part of it. Try any of that on the Series 8 and 9....
Why is the 7 better than 8 in your own experience?
@@Peter-rs3ti- I owned all three Braun shavers(Series 7/8/9). The Series 7 cutting head is superior for getting that tricky soft neck area, just under the chin. Also, the original Series 7 German made Gillette surgical blades does not snag longer hairs, near the sideburns, like the China made Series 9 can. Ergonomic feel of the Series 9 is perfect though. Both shavers require alcohol bath cleaning every 3-5 shaves, so the trapped hair cuttings don’t wear out the blades. Braun sent all shaver manufacturing to China, in late 2008 and quality dropped. I was able to get 36 months of use from the Gillette 7 blades, as opposed to 21 months from the Chinese 9 blades. The key is brushing out as much of cuttings after every shave and frequent sanitizer bath from the charger cradle. However, the caveat of the German Series 7 is the induction heated Denatured alcohol solution will strip and peel off the silver paint from the back of the shaver, by the charging contacts. The Series 9 no longer uses alcohol heating and switched to electronically timed fan drying of the cutter head. Both have their respective strengths but the German unit is far superior in shave quality and blade longevity. The Series 8 is a US Costco exclusive and no replacement parts and accessories are available. You pay one low price and once everything wears out, simply discard it. Not a great value, after all, for a product that barely endures two years of daily use.
@@Peter-rs3ti - The Series 8 is a Costco exclusive shaver, with zero replacement parts or accessories available. Pay one low price and dispose of it, when it wears out in 1.5 years. The original, 2005-2008 Series 7 with the German surgical Gillette blades were the absolute best, even better than my Chinese made Series 9.
I have to say with the current pricing as of April 27th, 2020 where the best price I've found for any variant of the series 9 is the 9330 at $229 and the series 7 being the 7071 at $129, I'm going with the series 7. The series 8 seems to be an exclusive model at selected retailers and really isn't part of my mainstream consideration. For a hundred dollars less the 7 seems the best option.
I've had two others, series 5 and 7. Series 5 was good, seven is awesome. Now the series 8 I thought would be good, it's horrible. It will not shave anything! Luckily I still have my old series 7, despite old and beat up it does an amazing shave. Save your money.
How do they (each one) work for Shaving Heads which I have begun to do the past year? When I go to the barber, I don't know the brand he uses, but he uses two devices, starting with a trimmer and then the shaver. I guess the shaver does not have a trimmer attached to it which I was not aware existed until your review (thanks). But I wonder, is a separate trimmer versus the integrated version better? I can see the travel convenience of having them integrated.
Thank you so much very thorough 👍🏿
Thank you budy. I was thinking just the same, the series 7 is good enough if you are not shaving every day and your beard is not very hard.
Nice t shirt my buddy looking clean..
Regardless, Thank you for making this
I think the Series 8 looks better then the 9 and I’ve had a Series 9 for a while now. Love Braun shavers, they spend years developing them and don’t introduce models every few months like Phillips do as a result.
Nice video. Short, but just well explained. This only confirms that the Series 7 are still the best ones.
I have the 7 series 790cc. I bought it in 2020 because I was on Chemotherapy for cancer and my doctor told me to get an electric shaver because of how thin my blood would get on chemo. You can have the 8 and 9 series. For an everyday shave, the 7 series can’t be beat.
thank you
The series 9 works great if you shave regularly but seems to have a problem with longer hairs. My series 7 works much better on long hairs. Wish the 9 had a head more similar to the 7.
At the 3:29 mark, you stated the 7 cleaned up after using 9. Can you expand on this? Was the 9 not doing a good job? Or did you mean the 9 did a better shave but it missed a few spots the 7 cleaned up?
The Series 7 has a great cutter head design and the German Surgical blades are far superior than the Chinese made, Series 9, which has a nasty tendency to snag sideburns and require more frequent alcohol cleaning.
Very useful video
how about the battery life? how many years?
Btw, I don't find the replacement head for series 8 sold anywhere. I wouldn't suggest it
I had series 8 twelve years ago
Got model 8 charged once , will not charge again maybe my falt
fit 8 series foil to 7 series shaver??
Thanks much for the review. Does the s7 cartridge fit in the s8?
J Quitania I have same question
9 subs and can't be bothered to reply to any of the comments. Good work! 😀

Own 4 Braun Series 7 and to get a baby smooth face only when I rotate CW then CCW in small circles. Where the older Braun shavers with the foil single round hole was 400% better and a closer shave. Foil change from round hole to the snow star shaped hole is a big big Braun mistake.
Why is there no information on the Braun series 8 shavers anywhere? When did it come out? Is it a costco exclusive? I can't find replacement heads for the series 8! I just bought one from costco
JJJT1 I’ve been going mad trying to find more info on replacement heads for the 8 too. Bought one at Costco for my husband and now I’m kind of regretting it because there seems to be no information out there for this series 😕
@@cherrychiri I am on the same page....spent 45 minutes to figure out a review/user guide but no luck, including Consumer Reports. Not comfortable to use a product that does lack visibility.
I also recently bought a series 8, can both of the side release mechanism for the shaver head be pushed in or is it just 1. Im trying to figure out if mine got jammed.
Richard To Just confirmed. Only one side can be pushed in.
I have no Idea how to use the 8
Yeah, Costco a little sketch for selling 8370cc. Bought it yesterday because of sale, but now considering returning it because upon research it doesn’t seem to “exist”. Replacement heads?
Braun 8000CP/51s
that's for series 5, isn't it?@@CoffeeMadeMeSay
I think that at present we have the 3 Series. The rest are a marketed bluff.
They all get the same charger?
I have 9 series but not happy with it. Cutting area is really large for series 9 and I want to try 8 or 7 series. I think 7 and 8 series are the same.
The plus and the minus is for the speed of motor
Costco said they will release replacement heads soon
1 year has passed and it's still not released...
Great what about series 5?
First time I hear of a series 8. And no info to be found online as other pointed out. That's really weird. It looks like a slightly redesigned series 5.
Also the settings on the series 7 adjust the speed of the motor not the closeness. Supposedly the lower settings make for a more comfortable shave but most people say it's pretty useless and you should keep it on the highest setting.
After leaving this comment I read on a forum or a review page that this was a product which is yet to be released in most regions. Supposedly Braun confirmed that and said that replacement cassettes would become available after the official release.
i just grabbed the 7 and the blades get really hot after 1 minute of being turn on so i will just return it and give the 9 a try. i was using the remington f5 and it works and doesnt get hot after a minute but maybe like 15 mins after but i need one that cuts quicker and smoother.
Where can you buy replacement heads for the series 8?
The series 8 is just a repackaged series 7. Costco version for example.
can I skip the cleaning station with Series 7? Or it is a must?
Skip the bulky cleaning station and just put the head in glass of Simple Green and water mixture (or just Simple Green). I've had Braun S7 for years and this is how I clean it. No issues.
Thanks for the video. However Doesn't matter what it looks like. It's not a car it's a shaver. Whichever one works better is the one you should use. Not the best looking or the best (experience) while shaving. Whatever that means. Use the one that works best.
S7 won’t recharge!! What to do ?
What about the Braun Electric Razor Series 8 8457
Anyone use the 8 for wet shaving? I have read that the 8 does much better at that than the 7 or 9's. Super smooth shave.
I have the 9 & the 8 and the 8 just gives u a better shave

This guy should be a politician. He showed off some stuff but really didn't say anything.
Hahahahahha
I have the 7 for over 10 years, fantastic build quality, don't know when Gillette bought braun, but the newer series 9 is not as good, the head is too big, really who designed this? Awkward under the chin,I think the internals are better quality, this represents the last of the old school brauns my opinion.buy the series 7 if you want my advice with extensive use and experience of both.
I think the 7 is the best.
Do they get those stubborn neck hairs?
Still requires several passes, from different head angles. Just flip out the side trimmer and slowly get the soft neck hairs off.
the series 8 is compatible with series 9 clean & charge ?
Islak traş edebilen hiçbir makine şarjdayken çalışmaz. Yeni güvenlik kuralları gereği artık böyle üretiliyorlar.
Good review, but horrible mic :o/ You sound like you are underwater at times.
Has anybody refilled the cleaning container instead of buying new? if so what did you use as liquid?
Yes. This explains it: czcams.com/video/sqMc7VIPCtc/video.html
old school series 7 is so much better than series 9 pro the Pro gives me irritation, the 7 is smoother and closer, braun needs to bring back the old series 7 Cleaning station on the 7 is 1000 times better then the series 9 pro cleaning station, Braun has gone a step backwards
Looks? Who cares about what it looks like as long as it shaves well?
which one will get me girlfriend? :(
Varför inte på svenska alla kan inte eng.
Good review!
However, I wouldn’t even consider the Series 7 for two reasons:
1. The price of the blades - It was released in 2010 and finding the German-made replacement blades that originally came with the shaver is VERY expensive - it will exceed the extra cost of the Series 9 in no time at all. Otherwise, you will have to settle for the blades made in China, which are HORRIBLE.
2. The locking shaving head - Known to break. It’s a design-flaw, but Braun treats it as normal wear and tear - hence it is NOT covered under their warranty.
The Series 5 from 2012 was the design inspiration for the Series 8 & 9. Unsurprising that either of those took design from the Series 7 - as both of those fixed the two MAJOR problems above.
I disagree with almost everything you've said. The replacement heads as well as the cleaning replacement can easily be purchased as a combo pack for around 20 to 30 bucks, and the replacement heads last a VERY long time. The blades can easily be purchased (inexpensively) off of Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc., and they do not exceed the hefty $300 price tag the S9 carries. I've had the series 7 since my ex bought it for me back in 2013, and I still used it right up until it broke on me this week, and I used it at least once a week for years. Mine only broke under normal wear and tear, and like I said, I've had it for over 5 years. If yours broke, I'm pretty sure it's from handling it roughly.
Yeap totally agree, I had the Series 7 and the locking head mechanism broke just out of warranty. It was cheap! I replaced it with a Series 9 which is fantastic and reliable, although it goes through the clean and charge cartridges quickly however it’s clean and charge station is cleaner then the Series 7 was, less stubble is left in the cleaning chamber clogging the little holes up.
Bron???? BRAWN!
Different choices to waste money.
Good job
