Awesome case study and review!
Just a few minutes in, and this is the clearest example of a case study I've found on CZcams. Thank you for helping understand the process.
my pleasure!
To be honest yeah!
Your case study is awesome!!. I learnt a lot from watching this and would make use of the resources you shared, Thank you.

This was so helpful omgggg
glad you thought so! :)
4 months! You are blessed! My bootcamp gave us 2-3 weeks per app!
:(
Hey Sharon - was wondering if you could tell us more about how you were able to connect with these mentors. Thank you for such a helpful video!
This gives me a little better idea of how to approach case studies thanks k
Watching this video now and am ready to continue working on my UX Case Studyđ€đ€đ€
Yay! So excited for u :)
Such a hard working girl!
aww thank u â€ïžâš
Thanks teacher / bestie!! đđđđđđ»
:))
I love your channel! thereÂŽs so much insight! thanks :) What are the main differences between User Research vs Design Researcher vs UX designer?
Itd really good thank you
Isn't it crazy how long just 1, JUST ONE! Portfolio project can take to perfect??????? Please show a tutorial on AE animations for screens?
I agree!! This first project took me 4 months. That's a cool idea! I actually haven't used AE for on-screen animations but I think there are a bunch of tutorials you can find from other creators in the meantime! :)
@@sharonyeunkim WOW! 4 months! That's crazy long! I am transitioning from a Graphic Designer to a UX Designer and it's not a small shift like I imagined at all!
Also, I've been debating to do small animations in my portfolio and wondered how others were making them. Like GIFs. I have experience with AE but, that feels like a lot of work depending on the mico animations.
You're amazing. :)
aw you're so sweet! Thank you :)
Thanks for sharing. Few quick questions:
1. Was this case study product shipped OR was student work?
2. Did any mentors suggest to include an IMPACT Section within the case study for the product?
For example, if shipped, how did your ideas for the product make an impact on the business providing the product (number of sales, reduced number of support tickets, etc.)?
If the product was not shipped, did your mentors suggest to include an estimated impact with your case study?
3. If an Impact Section of the case study is to be included, where should the section be placed within the case study (e.g towards the beginning, middle, end)?
Thank you.
Great video!! Love mentoring on ADPList.
I may contact you sometime soon then! What name do you go by on ADP?
This is super helpful. Question- Did you make the case study in another platform like figma and then upload it in Squarespace or you made it directly in Squarespace? I'm curious which way it's easier and faster, specially when you have to place the visual elements
Hi, how do you get those phone mockups to put your app in?
hey Sharon thanks for sharing the tips. It's super helpful but I'm in betwween of choosing display solutions by gif or video format. because if using gif files the size will kinda heavy so it may impacts the site speed. Thus I embedded the videos instead, but after watching your video I started wondering which would be the best approach from the viewers like hiring managers.
I would do GIF because it automatically plays and they hiring managers don't have to take ANOTHER action to watch something. May be smoother just to do GIF. That's my opinion! : )
@@sharonyeunkim gotcha. thanks for sharing your opinion. It makes sense here đ„°
that at app idea
Which tool did you use to create your case study?
Why are other people making trash? It's really quality content which you have put up here. Thanks!! Good luck!

Oh my goodness đ I don't think mine is all that better than others as I'm still learning myself. Nonetheless thanks for your comment and support!
Thanks Sharon for the video. I was pretty much in the dark about how to build my UX case study amidst of changing my career path to a UX designer. When you choose a case study, do you need to pick an existing app/website and re-design it or can you just make your own case study and design something new?
Hi! Do not redesign an app- make something completely new and what you feel is inventive :)
do you do after effect animations or get some help... ?
naise :D
Hi, thanks for making this vid! I'm about to finish my UX course soon but I don't think I have enough projects to put in my portfolio. My question is, how many projects do I need to have before applying for a UX design job?
Hey! I had the same question. I asked around recruiters and other designers in the field and the most common answers are 3-5 UX projects.
But beyond your UX projects, also feel free to add other work as well that are more visual design/graphic design if you have them! :)
Hope this helps.
@@sharonyeunkim Sounds good! I've been a graphic/web designer for 6 years. I'll definitely add those projects. Thanks. Also, subbed!
@@prod.byafrix9458 ah thanks! I appreciate you :)
Hi Sharon ! Thanks for all ur videos, may I ask if Springboard Bootcamp taught you Figma as well or do you guys learn it on your own? Thank you
Yup they have modules for Figma too!
Hi Skim, you work is amazing!

Who's hosting your website?
@@chekwubechukwu4288 You can host + build it on Squarespace!
Can I know where I can find a mentor?
What is an affinity map?
Affinity map is something typically done after user interviews- where you take quotes or notes from those interviews and let the data "organize itself" - putting like pieces of information next to eachother and those "clusters" can help you form insights to move forward with. (ex: thse insights tell me this about the problem space/audience and it can help me in my ideation phase in this way bc of those insights)
Hi, how can I get help for my case study?
Hi!! Where can I find example Web design briefs/case studies to practice?
I don't recall a website that does these but if you Google them, some should show up.
@@sharonyeunkim I was recommended sharpen.design/ by @femke.design. What do you think?
Which bootcamp did you do?
springboard! Here's my take on bootcamps: czcams.com/video/Zaxp_M-wbxQ/video.html
Great video! I have a couple of questions.
1. What exactly are you going to animate in After Effects? Do you already have AE experience?
2. Is 9 months a longer than usual amount of time for Springboard?
Hi David! Iâll answer in the order you asked:
1: I will animate the buttons changing from âaddâ to âaddedâ. I was told that showing micro interactions are a major bonus and makes the app feel more alive in your case study. I do have AE experience as I took a class from my college. But you can download it with a personal liscense (I get it free from my college- not springboard) + watch CZcams tutorials showing how~. If anything- figma auto animate is a good option as well
2. 9 months for Soringboard UX/UI bootcamp is the average amount of time. If you were just doing the UX- track- I believe that would be 6 months.!

Wow so informative and inspiring! I live in Toronto. Are you too??
I'm just starting out trying to build the portfolio. Can I ask some questions if you don't mind?:)
Hi there! Yes I am in Toronto right now :)
Absolutely- ask me anything you would like!
How did u get ur mentor?
Hey! I got paired with them through my Bootcamp. I made a more detailed video about it here: czcams.com/video/HFOvDd3nbNA/video.html
how do you get a UX mentor?
Iâd recommend ADPlist.org :)
You need to work on your accessibility, I noticed that some if not most buttons, are kind of small. Plus, you also need to keep in mind the contrast ratio; the colors between your text and button. But hey, this was an awesome content. Keep it up!
Agreed, I reflected saying the orange color didnt fit WCAG standards- appreciate the note!
