- Glassing a fish surfboard with Silmar polyester resin. I used 4 oz E-Cloth (2 layers on the deck and 1 layer plus a tail patch on the bottom), red resin tint, black posca pen pin lines and a gloss finish. FCS 2 fin plugs with FCS 2 Modern Keel Twin Fins. 5' 3" x 2 1/2" x 19 7/8". I've only glassed a handful of boards and am not an expert but this is the process that works for me.

I love surfing, building with my hands and making videos. Bendheim Boards is my outlet to fuel these passions. I'm self-taught and am not an expert, but these videos show the process that works for me. Follow along for new videos every month! - Sport
Thank you for not adding terrible music ;)
Haha your welcome!
great video without horrible music...thank you
I could watch this for hours -dude, you’re a craftsman.
Appreciate it 🤙
Makes you realise how much goes into glassing a board , legend thanks
Yes it’s a lot of work and time consuming. But worth it!
Looks exactly the same as when I was a glasser 52 years ago. I guess some things never change.
It’s true! Old school is the new school.
Old school never died it got passed on. Great to see this!!
Just chilling late at night watching CZcams when I stumble across this pure gold content! Great video and craftsmanship
Thank you 🙏
I worked for glasser in hawaii for few months. Biggest time saving tip is to use hard back sander on first pass. Like 60 grit. Especially on laps of glass on rails. Fast and end up with smoother end product but have to be careful not to sand through. Lol. Great video. I could almost smell the resin. Mahalo.
Thanks man, appreciate the tip and feedback 🤙
this is awesome. so helpful for someone that wants to glass their first board!!!
nothingrhymeswithFerg glad you liked it. If you have any questions figuring things out just let me know. Happy to help.
Wow! Quick and to the point. Thank you so much for the video.
I love surfing and I truly believe that making surfboard is such a beautiful form of art And that people should give surfboard makers more respect as it take so much time and so much skill !
I totally agree! I make boards for fun and have great respect for those trying to make a living in this industry because it’s a lot of work with small returns.
Crazy skill- never gets old watching craftsman work
Absolutely love your videos. Beautiful board! And love the brush ornament!
That was a great video and board. I used to surf in the 70’s and 80’s. Boards back then were better than the things you can poke your fingers through today.
Haha nice! Those classic boards were built to last.
Wow! That red is perfect!
Thanks for the video and the time-lapse. Really great way to watch.
Appreciate the feedback 🙏
Looks fantastic

Hi...Enjoy watching your know - how. That marker for the lap line was gold (okay it was really black haha). I know your busy and wearing a mask is a big part of your job, and timelapse speed things up!
I'm just saying, can very much learn a lot from what you say also...much power and learning from the "spoken word".
Thanks for this channel.
You got some cool helpers there to Dad!!!

this video is spot on OUTSTANDING! THANKYOU AND WONDERFUL BOARD
Tanner Bendheim love your shaping/ glassing room . I take it its in your yard or garden?. I live in the UK its getting cold towards winter. I've stopped glassing in my bedroom due tio temperature. (my dog and I are forced to seep in the lounge when glassing) Next spring, I'm putting something like this shelter in my small garden . but I havent seen a large shelter like yours here in the UK?. could you give us the make and size and cost $$££of that plastic frame tarp shelter set up? thankyou . Love this video. one of the best on utube from start to finish, perfect and to the point.
Thanks. It’s inside my garage. It’s a portable walk-in green house I purchased on amazon for $100. I live in Orange County, California so it doesn’t get too cold but I use a few heaters in the winter to keep it up to temperature. I think the the green house is 7x7x12. Here is a link to a similar one: www.amazon.com/dp/B001QIHEY0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JggUDbZG7YZZ9
Best of luck!
Tanner Bendheim thanks I will go online and look for it. being portable you can put it in your bedroom, passage, garden, courtyard, garage and shape all day long I'm in heaven WAAAAAAA! I live on the English channel in Devon. this particular area in the south of Devon doesn't have any waves except in winter so you have to drive 40 miles to the nearest good wave up the coast at Bigsbury beach.. I am lucky though, even though this is in the beautiful green country side we have a surf supplier for blanks 3o miles away in Kingsbridge called Triocean its a great friendly surfshop. In the north of Devon waves are pretty good and plentiful.. What does freak me out here in devon is the stupid liberals. like California its run by the libdems and so there are the same problems you are facing in California. I am a British Trump supporter cheers , surfs up!
We are lucky to have lots of shaping suppliers here in California. Hope it works out!
This was a great video. Ive been using as a quick reference video. its nice to have all the steps in one video. 🤙🏼
Thanks man! Glad to help out.
Hey Tanner, Do you use anything to clean the board after sanding the hot coat? My last board I sanded then used denatured alcohol to clean the board before the gloss coat and ended up with tons of uneven spots.
Gary
I usually wipe it down with a rag and then blow it off with a shop vac. I do also use denatured alcohol but very little. I just dab a little onto a rag and do a quick wipe down of the board. Be sure to sand in long drawn out passes to help keep the board even. I also get uneven spots some times, it’s hard to make it perfect. Good luck!
Nice shape! I want that fishhh
Very cool, nice work!
Thank you sir!
You bet!

Thank you! You can re-use brushes by using acetone if you prefer. I’ve started doing so as well.

Thanks man! 🙏

Thank you! Good luck with your boards!
Stunning job. I’d have one from you if I was local to you.
Thanks man!
Dios bendiga tu arte💪💪💪🤙
The price of a board is totally justified. Nice work👌
Thanks man 🤙
Nice little swaylock set up. Fill coat the lam, styrene the cut lap and don't use green tape. Cobalt will help with reds. But not bad bro. Reminds me of my dad's garage years ago when I 1st got started
Thanks man 🤙
nice work, made my arms itch. we need to see your team riders testing it out, she did hi 5 you...
Haha for sure. Although she’s waiting for me to make her a pink board first
Good surf board.
🤙
Top!!
Hey man! You can save the paint brush... put in thinner... and them wash whit hot wather and soap. Three times.. and save in a pice of cloth with the soap foam... i dont now.. if the paint brush is very chip , it is unnesesary... sorry for my inglish.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve actually already started putting my brushes in acetone to re-use them.
@@BendheimBoards beatifull jobs!!!
Thanks man!
I was wandering how you clean your brushes after use... got the answer
thank you, with all my respect for u and all the people that make this kind of work, i didnt know it was such a huge amount of toxic products that goes into the ocean when it cracks. I will definitely invest in a more eco friendly surfboards from know on, you opened my eyes.
Glad to help man 🤙
There aren't any eco-friendly options. Epoxy comes from oil. Anyone telling you it's made from pine sap or hippy sweat are lying. Quit surfing!
@@gregwebster8784 how drastic! 🤣...yes there are other options my friend, already found something interesting!
I have the same one same colour:)
Nice!
Your channel is really fucking awesome !
La bise
