In brass, we were only .1 behind. And we moved at 215 bpm for 3 minutes in the closer, so considering our demand that's not bad. Maybe if we stood around as much as BD did we could win all the music captions, too.
I have marched corps and one of the most wonderful things that wows me is how a corps can change style and how they can perfect contrast between different pieces. Way to go for achieving that between Bliss and Rocky Point in this video.
amazing, thats how a hornline should sound, the last tune played i can remember watching that being played at 83 finals and couldnt believe the m+m and sound they put out, garfield 83 is still my top corps routine EVER. hopefully i might get to a show if one is one nearby when i go over to visit my brother next summer. ive only ever been to and taken part in dcuk
97 and 99 were brutal too. in 99 the drum solo was around 232 during the quad feature consistently the entire 2nd half of the season. just brutal stuff from marc and jeff
I noticed this warm-up seems pretty consistent with warm-ups from years past. Does anyone know how long they have been playing this (specifically hymnsong and then rocky point)?
As far as I can remember...Garfield played Rocky Point back around 1982 or so....hymnsong was the ballad for the 1993 show. I know our show (Cadets '07) was fast like hell, but 1993 was another fast show too. They needed that ballad.
I love the haters! I cant help but tear up every time I watch how amazing we were. My first 4 years don't even compare with my 2 years with The Cadets. The baritones were on Yamaha 51DL. I personally thought it was one of the worst mouthpieces I've ever played on. But everyone has their own style. For Holy Name Shall Always Be...
Not a big fan of judging clips vs live experience but I listen to lots of brass choirs and bands both on the net and in person. I think I have a pretty balanced ear deciphering between to the two...which is why I think the band in this clip on the pieces performed are TOP HEAVY....whether I was there or not. :/
yeah it is a little sloppy, i would admit...we're def. a hornline thats fun to watch live because a camera recording doesn't justify the true passion and volume of this hornline, especially with the sudden FF volumes we hit out of nowhere...its easy to pick a apart the errors on a recording
You think it sounds top heavy because of the bad recording. I marched in corps and like the guy said you have to hear it live is an understatment. It would blow your mind at how the low brass kicks your ass. Spirit of Atlanta '82,'83,'84,'85. And by the way it is a drum and bugle corps not a band!!!!
Interesting conducting patterns....still haven't decided if it's appropriate or not?? Great conducting...just not seeing his energy matched in the sound. Almost as if he has a show of his own going on instead of conducting the show to be heard??? GREAT SOUNDING BAND!!! Would like to hear more depth from the lower end of the band!
gino cipriani is a beast.... i believe if the cadets didnt have him they would be shit he can get anybody hyped up i dont care if you're over 100 and on your death bed he can get you hyped up
it absolutley IS overblowing...thats a drum corps hornline play very loud and overblow. ok ok so not EVERY hornline 'overblows' but you're going to push a lot more air through the horn to reach the volumes corps like The Cadets, Phantom, BD and Vanguard do...sure some corps don't overblow, but they don't get as loud....to each their own...btw, I like loud
i love the cadets but they got sloppy at rocky point. they're dragging through the runs and letting their sound leak. but its just one day other wise they play that much cleaner.

I also agree there is a lot of passion being portrayed by this hornline!! simply incredible
we hit 118 at rehearsal, the staff had a decibel meter

OMFG DIS IS AMAZING!!!! Simple Gifts is one of the one most amazing songs ever!!!!
I love this sound. Also couldn't help but notice, ballin' posture all around.
I have been a Phantom Fan since there championship year in 1996.I am impressed with Cadets sound all the time.
Again....GREAT sounding band!

Double A (and amazing) at 1:30 and Epicness at 4:00 - 4:14, AND I've been a hardcore Phantom fan since Faust (2006) I'm impressed with the sound
360 Modena like: Tf? Something louder than me?
this simple gifts is way better than the pursuit of happiness simple gifts

For Holy Name Shall Always Be...
I love phillip bliss it's so moving
yep and cleaner and more in tune!!!11!1!one!
Trust me, it's all alot more magical standing in the middle of the line.
He was kinda that way when we marched BD in 84....very intense personality at times.
I don't think they use maximus MPs, probably LOUD or Karl Hammond mouthpieces. As for the contras, they are up at that angle cuz THEY CAN.
are you implying that the rules of balance don't apply in drum corps :/ ?
How dare you criticize Gino! He does what he means and means what he does!
wow... thats nuts! hahaha. Thats hella loud. I wish I could see and hear it for myself.
DAMN!! i fuckin love simple gifts!! The Cadets fuckin rock!!
Yep, indeed...
Gotta love On a Hymn Song of Philip Bliss.

You obviously have never marched in a world class drum corps.
Love,
The guy who fracked that F#...oops, F natural.

i think i shat myself when i first heard this video
This maroon team for the last couple of years
Their show wasn't nearly as entertaining as others. So I agree with you
so why is it you're hating on the Cadets? your profile name claims you marched with them?? thats pretty classy...
You think it sounds top heavy because of the bad recording. I marched in corps and like the guy said you have to hear it live is an understatment. scratch that......just read everything. I don't remember anyone leaving in 06 and heading to another corps in 07 either....hmmmm.....
the mellos used karl hammond mouthpieces
Interesting conducting patterns....still haven't decided if it's appropriate or not?? Great conducting...just not seeing his energy matched in the sound. Almost as if he has a show of his own going on instead of conducting the show to be heard???
GREAT SOUNDING BAND!!! Would like to hear more depth from the lower end of the band!
I find it very interesting that the warm up consists of the best show music from the 80's. Long live the G bugle!
I know who he is I think. He left the camp after I got there and went to Devils....if it is who I think it is....
lols Gino Conducting simple ifts
whats up with the car? lol thats ramdom
dragging through the runs? uhh...not really.
gino cipriani is a beast.... i believe if the cadets didnt have him they would be shit he can get anybody hyped up i dont care if you're over 100 and on your death bed he can get you hyped up
yep i gotta agree with u there brandon. great show but i could do without the nararration. other than that they were amazing.
@Holmes1216
forget that, i came at 1:16

its not marching band...its drum corps
yeah had to leave the ferrari in the video lol
Excuse me but I never said anything negative. Thanks for insulting me though.
1:01 wow
I hear chorale and shaker dance haha
yeah haha. Gino's funny as shit, though
lol...... basketball
Ahhh yes....Gino and his infamous rushed cut-offs....You can't question his passion, but his conducting skills aren't exactly world-class.
