I just got a "V2" and cogging is terrible. Think I've been a victim of bait and switch. Would love to hear what wltoys thinks about sellers doing this. Will be very hesitant to buy wltoys again which is a shame.
Same here... mine came with the blue streering control, but I'm having cogging issues with it.

Heated it with heat gun and removed with screwdriver.
Bro, another way to keep the hole centered is to first drill a hole directly opposite of the grubscrew hole, the grubscrew hole throws the drill bit out of alignment even using a drill press unless you drill a hole opposite first.
Doing this will allow you to go strait to 3.2mm without the intermittent increasing of drill bit sizes.
Remember the hole you drill opposite of the grubscrew hole must be the same size as the grubscrew hole, I'm sure you can understand the logic behind this.
They make a version 2 of this car that eliminates the clogging issues as well as the transmitter range.
Is the current one from Banggood the version 2? I’m interested in purchasing this car, just want to make sure I’m getting the updated version.

@@njshift Bangood sell v1 and v2 under same listing, but you can't choose. in description they have this: "The transmitter will be random dilivery in V1 OR V2 version"
@@njshift if you buy from alliexpress instead of banggood you can be 100% sure it's a V2 since some of the listings specify it's a V2 ( the new ones come with a blue wheel on the controller ) V2 cost about 165$.

@@njshift I plan on upgrading my 124018 to brushless , i couldn't afford the 124016 at the time of purchase.
Careful about buying V2. My supposed a V2 has same cogging problem. Disappointed
Gearing can cause coggin but it also can be an esc issue as well....I would've liked to see how it cogged before the change....also there are alot easier ways to do what you did 👍🏾
what's the easier way?
i have video before mod on channel, now you can get v2 gears and motor mount on aliexpress and thats the easier way :)

What about the top speed? It must be very slow now. Stock pinion is 27t if I am not wrong, you changed it to 15t.

It is the esc that has a huge delay in the throttle. I got the v2, it doesn’t cog, most of the time, but the delay makes it horrible to drive
My friend have 2 of these v2 cars and have same problem with delay, we changed transmiter and reciver to Dumbo Rc x6 and it is great upgrade no more delay.

What the reason motor cogging?
The motor lacks the torque needed to drive the 27t pinion, even though it's brushless it's a lot smaller than the 550 brushed motor that this setup was designed for. He should have also used a higher kv motor because it will now be much slower top speed, better still use a 3650 size brushless motor.
