I might be alone in this, but I also considered Phase 4 to be the aftermath. The "licking the wounds" phase. So for me, it makes sense for the next problem to occur just as "normal" is setting in. And Phase 4 did a lot of normalizing. It normalized our OGs no longer being the focus, it normalized the next wave of heroes to take over cherished mantles, it normalized our heroes healing... Some more constructively than others. It normalized saying goodbye by choice, and not so much. It normalized self discovery and taking risks. It normalized moving on. And now, normal has to be shattered.
getting right into the good stuff immediately after phase 3 would have been a bit much, a breather phase was definitely needed and i’m glad they did what they did rather than the intensity phase 5 appears to have

Personally it felt a little clunky, I would've preferred "I don't have to win, you just have to lose" but I guess it works all the same

Phase 4 was both our Heros, and ourselves, learning to deal with the PTSD that we have acquired over the years. We needed that down time. Through phase 4 we dealt with Grief (in multiple ways), PTSD, Survivors guilt and learning to love ourselves past what the world *expects* from us. Not only our Heros, but we as fans, needed an outlet to be able to process these emotions
Scott and cassie is the best father daughter dynamic I’ve seen. I love this pairing. And I can’t wait to see them fight side by side

This looks INCREDIBLE!!! By the looks of this trailer, this is setting the bar pretty high for Phase 5. Hopefully every other project is equally as good or better. This, Secret Invasion, and Guardians all look fantastic so it’s off to a decent start, at least trailer wise
This is the first Ant-Man movie where feel genuine stakes! I actually have a feeling that this might be the last time we see Scott Lang and that Cassie will take over as Stature. As for Kang, I get the same feeling from him as I get from a shark or a snake, you play by their rules, follow the golden rule, and your good. But if you cross him you won’t even live long enough to regret it.
Also FREAKING M.O.D.O.K.?!?! I so want home to be voiced by Patton Oswalt.😂😂

When you guys seemingly missed the Darren Cross faced M.O.D.O.K earlier in the trailer, i was like u guys may not know the character, then you react to him later haha...how'd you guys miss that BIG HEAD lol 😅
I missed to too. Was looking at Kang and the 2 guys with the blue masks. My mind told me that blob in the back was Scott’s family grouped up. But seeing how he “died” with his body at different sizes, that is a good way of making him.

At the 0:57 second mark u can see MODOK's face and it looks like the rumors were true. That's Corey Stoll aka Yellowjacket from Ant-Man 1. So clearly when his suit malfunctioned he got screwed up before going subatomic and Kang mustve partially fixed him. Now hes MODOK.

I love that they included a shot in this that makes everyone watching it tilt their heads simultaneously.
Phase 4 needed to plant all the technology that Kang created or used from the Shang-Chi's 10 rings, to Kamala's bracelet, he might even be using technology that created the Eternals and Celestials. Kinda like phase 2 needing to build up the infinity stones.
The problem with phase 4 wasn't the naming, it was that everyone got so used to the idea that phases ended in some big spectacle but phase 4 didn't so it feels underwhelming by comparison to those. Phases 1-3 all had at least one big team-up movie before the end of the phase to give everyone a sense of closure, phase 4 didn't do that and so as a result, we have all these new characters but nothing cohesive.

I think of phase four as a bunch of one shot comics introducing new characters and situations, also being a catch up from the pandemic. Phase five is the main line and we’re getting the story where all the one shots pay off.
Phase 4 is about dealing with the grief, loss and consequences of the snap and what it means to move forward after tragedy. You couldn’t move on to the stories in phase 5 without addressing the loss and how it’s going to effect us long term. That’s why the last film is phase 4 was a 3 hour treatise on the dangers of letting grief change you into someone you don’t recognize….because more loss is coming and we can’t run away from it.
Phase four reflects the chaos released by the coming of Scarlet Witch/death of He who remains

It's been sometime since I've seen a Marvel trailer that has given me goosebumps; that did not have _Black Panther_ in the title.
The closest comparison I can give with phase 4’s relationship to this film is how all of phase 2 was leading up to Civil War but Civil War started phase 3.

If we go by the comics, Scott *has* to die so that the young avengers get formed. It's through his death that Cassie forms it and they have already introduced most, if not all, the young avengers in phase 4

7:11 - You can akin Phase 4 to Phase 1. Phase 1 we knew we were building to the avengers. Phase 4 has been the opening up of the multiverse. Coming off the highs of Phase 3 and Endgame we have to cleanse the palette a bit and bring it back down. You can't ride the high forever. But now that we have gone through Phase 4, seeing those fruits start to bear fruit into Phase 5 will be awesome

1. i felt a parallel of Scott [here] with Steve dealing with Thanos - he IS going to get wrecked.
2. i liked the idea of Phase Four but now i'm agreeing with you, could've been called "Thereafter" or some sort and then this is Phase Four.
3. this morning on Twitter, Miss Minutes posted a clip of Nick Fury telling Loki, "Ant. Boot" [avengers 1] and i had a fun "oh shite!" moment, iChuckle.

I was completely distracted by the guys with the white light face shields on the front of their helmets (my one weakness, shiny things) so it wasn't until like my third watch through that I realized they actually show MODOK earlier. They must have been counting on everyone being distracted since that later shot with the robotic face would seem to be the blink and you'll miss it intro to the character. Yet there he is, without his face mask at 3:10 in all his Corey Stoll (Darren Cross/Yellowjacket) glory. It looks quite good for a guy who is just a giant head.
How this reaction eventually turned into 'Being Scott Malkovich' is hysterical! 🤣

Wave 4 is the prologue to what’s coming people. Let’s call it the “ prologue phase”
Phase 4 was the aftermath of endgame. Most of the OGs are gone or retired, grieving heroes and introducing the younger heroes. Now.. the older avengers and younger ones will have no break. Female Loki has unleashed Kang, and Scott will free him. And most avengers will die and the multiverse collapse giving us secret wars. We needed that break
I forget how it was explained, but someone summarized Phase 4 as being about loss and passing the torch. I think it fits pretty damn well. Its totally still a phase, just a very different overall theme than what we have had in the past.
Scott tries to pull a Dr. Strange vs Dormammu with the we both have to lose line... but I bet he doesn't have the strength to do it. It would be good to see the otherside of that powerplay where the bad guy calls the bluff and wins.
