      @lindseyhammonds526 try every part. Kane's only shot was in a 1v1 battle because that's how his style was oriented. Rakim's pen was superior in several ways, flow unmatched, creativity incredible. He dropped before Kane too. He was the one that created the lines other rappers color in between, including Kane to a degree. Without Rakim Kane wouldn't have pushed himself quite as hard.

      Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. Those who choose Rakim usually choose him based on his content. I can dig that if you feel like what Rakim had to say was better than what Kane was talking about. That's fine. But to say that Rakim was a better rapper than Kane as far as flow and the execution of his rhymes then that's just pure and utter nonsense!!! Kane was definitely the better rapper all day.

    • @godflint
      @godflint Před 5 měsíci +5

      @@shawnbowers192 If Rakim invented flow then Kane perfected it. I don't know what you guys are listening to when you hear a Rakim song. Rakim's flow was very basic and elementary compared to Kane's.
      In the song 'Smooth Operator', Kane said, "CONFUSE and LOSE, ABUSE and BRUISE the CREWS who CHOOSE to USE my name wrong, they pay DUES."
      Rakim wasn't flowing like that. Rakim didn't have intricate rhyme patterns like that.
      In the song 'Set It Off' Kane said, "cause I get ILL and KILL at WILL, teaching a SKILL that's REAL you're no FRILL, so just stand STILL and CHILL as I BUILD, science I DRILL until your rhymes FILL your head up..."
      Again, Rakim wasn't flowing like that, and he certainly did not display the same level of lyrical acrobatics that Kane did.
      Rakim couldn't flow like Kane at all. Man, I can be here all day hitting you with Quotables from Kane that displays his lyrical dexterity. Rakim had the same basic flow and rhyme pattern on every song fast or slow.

    They were different. During that time you had Rakim, Kane. Nobody was at their level back then. Nas comes from Rakim, Jay comes from Kane. Rakim had lots of quotables. Nas has quotables. Probably some pure hip hop and consciousness comes more on KRS branches.

    The Kane. Rakim rryhmes just as good as Kane but he’s too slow. Kane had more technique and was more faster flow. Plus his album cover when he debuted is fire. So it’s Kane for me

    A far better question would be Rakim or Chuck D . That would also be the best versus of all time.

    Rakim is the quantum leap for Emcee's. Rappers been using his flow and structure for 30 plus years. Kane was nice, no question. But he just happened to be there when Rakim was changing the game.

    KANE was always one of my favorites but to me RAKIM has no competition lyrically.
    Especially how he would build and destroy with 5% NATION KNOWLEDGE,Jewels and lessons in his rhymes,to anyone listening that didn’t have knowledge of self wouldn’t catch the hidden layers of GOD BODY lessons in his songs.. KANE dropped KNOWLEDGE too but not on the level of RAKIM.

    Don't get me wrong. Rakim wasn't the first to slow down rap. Spoonie Gee had a15 minute record with him just flowing. Since there wasn't a hook, the song had several names (Spoonie rap or I don't smoke, I don't gamble). That was around 1980 or 1981. It was an early success in the streets. This was in the very early days of rap. What made Rakim the goat, was his rhyme scheme.
