I was like a church hopper for many years, and finally, Jesus told me to attend the Church He established and He led me to the Catholic Church. After several years of classes, I joined, and after 57 years, I can still say I have never felt more fulfilled or happier.

@@kelman727 That's easy. Jesus not only identifies love as the answer to the world's problems, but defines what love is and shows us what love looks like.
Love, based on Biblical principles or first principle, not only seeks to reconcile mankind to God but also mankind to itself through personal relationships in which we build up rather than tear down. God wants humans to be in relationship with each other in which we don't take advantage of one another. In other words, be our brothers keeper.
      Love rather than envy.
      To forgive rather than revenge.
To serve rather than be served.
      Humility rather than pride.
To lay down our lives for others rather than fight to preserve ourselves while others die.
Human rights are a responsibility rather than an entitlement.
To be a follower of Christ in the modern age is to truly be a "rebel" .

      @pbecke Před 4 lety

@@stephenmerritt5750 'Human rights are a responsibility rather than an entitlement.'
No. The Second Commandment says otherwise. It is the responsibilty of these who have enough and more of this world's good things, to strive to ensure that the poor and marginalised have a fair share of God's bounty, whch he intended for all his children, as St Ambrose insisted. And don't quote to me; 'The poor you have always with you' ; That was clearly intended by Christ to apply to a specific situation at a specific time.
The Bible almost routinely identifies the rich with the oppressor, the robber, the fraudulent, the violent, the dishonest, etc ; and the Bible conversely regularly identifies the poor with the virtuous, the true Israel. An outstanding example, of course, is Our Lady's Magnificat. Of course there are many exceptions, such as Joseph of Arimathea, but evidently a minority of a relative minority. The Psalms and the books of the Prophets are particularly notable in this context.

I read GK Chesterton's stories, and he is a supreme satirist. He is certainly a breath of fresh air among the world's thinkers, many of whom are quite stale, and even foul, as the rotting corpse of their philosophy will always dispel. Until we have a tremendous appreciation for the truth, and can reason it succinctly, distinctly, and reliably, our silence more dispels our wisdom than ever our speaking. Seek the truth, for to know the truth is freedom.

"Christ came upon earth, not only for those who lived at that time in Palestine, but for men of all times. When He deprived men of His sensible presence, He gave them the Church with her doctrine, jurisdiction, Sacraments and worship, to be as another Christ; it is in the Church that we can find Him. No one goes to the Father--and to go the Father is all salvation and all sanctity--except through Christ: No man cometh to the Father, but by me (John 14:6). But remember well this no less important truth: no one goes to Christ except through the Church; we only belong to Christ if we belong in fact or in desire to the Church. It is only in the unity of the Church that we can live the life of Christ." Abbot Marmion

The term Christian and Catholic was first used by St. Ignatius of Antioch in the early second century, the first term refers to the followers of Jesus (has nothing to do with religion), while the second term was the name given by Apostles to the Apostolic Union according to their universal faith in Jesus Christ, in (Hebrews 12-23) it can be observed that the author writes exactly that, he calls the Church (Universal Assembly) for those who do not know the meanings of the words, *Universal Assembly* is the same as *Catholic Church.*
    Hebrews 12
*23* _"KATHOLIKA kai ekkêsia prôtotokôn apogegrammenôn en ouranois kai kritê theô pantôn kai pneumasi dikaiôn teteleiômenôn;"_
*23* _"To the general (syno.: universal) assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect;"_
    Assembly = *Church*
    Universal or General = *Catholic*
"Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Smyrneans, 8:2 (c. A.D. 110)".

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
That is what Martin Luther rightly did, he just went back to the Truth of the Scriptures.
Many Sects have their own doctored Bible i.e. the Catholic Bible, the Jehovah Witness Bible, the teachings from the Book of Mormon etc., all of these have had teaching added to or taken away from, the truth of scripture of The Holy Bible, for their own 'dubious purposes.'

I have always thought that his single greatest flaw was that he was a Catholic, but if you break down his defense of Catholicism you will find that his defenses apply to a larger group than the Catholic Church alone. In fact I think most of the examples he gives would apply to any true, honest, and obedient Christian Church in all of history. Beyond this even, his defense of Catholicism is based on the ideal Catholic Church, not the real Catholic Church that we have seen Perverted and tyrannized so many times throughout history by its own leaders.

This is the Church of Chesterton and the one that has the Eucharist - the actual body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. Protestants do not have this.
Jesus said that “the forces of the netherworld will not prevail against it” meaning satan may infiltrate it and attack it for thousands of hears but it will always hold the fullness of the faith in its official teachings.

@@marydolan587 Jesus lived two thousand twenty years ago he chose twelve apostles to guide the church He gave them authority to establish the church in His name and it's based on scripture and tradition that which was not written down but by word of mouth.
really? So when Peter addresses the crowd in Acts 2: he is quoting from and relying on what?
      He established the sacraments
sacraments are a Catholic term and you do not attain salvation by the sacraments . Salvation is by grace and it is a gift not something you work for , so doing the sacraments sounds pious but in reality it will not give you salvation .
baptism with St John the Baptist by full immersion after confession of sins and repentance
the Eucharist at the last Supper ,
but not the same as Jesus performed it ,at all.
confession when He said to the apostles whose sins you shall forgiven whose sins you shall retain they are retained.
A troubling doctrine ( confession to a priest ) that has no foundation in scripture by word or by practice of the early church until the 1100's where it is brought into the Catholic church. as a doctrine / sacrament.
Ordination Jesus was the annointed One and passed that on to the apostles.
And when the apostles passed on from this life there is no record in scripture that says that there was any succession of the apostles . The believers were the ones who spread the gospel.
Etc Peter was Simon before he was called Peter rock
Yes Peter had a name change and the Catholic church gave him an upgrade in status even though there are many verses that describe Peter as being less than the rock Jesus named him. Jesus is the Rock of our salvation and He built His church on himself and Peter and the apostles are part of the foundation .
I have looked at Catholic church history and it is dismal ,just as dismal as the protestant denominations ,all saying they are the true church.
Jesus called His church "MY CHURCH" He did not call it anything else and there were no names of churches recorded by any of the writers of the new testament.
The Church that Jesus founded is the true church and everything that the true church should believe is found in the scriptures. 2 Tim 3:15-17
Any new beliefs that are taught as truth and not found by example in the scriptures are not truth but fabrication by man for his own reasons.
      That removes
      purgatory
      Limbo
baptism by sprinkling without confession of sin or age of accountability
      indulgences
      confession to a priest
      Popes
      Cardinals
Mary as more than the mother of Jesus her firstborn
the Eucharist as a bloodless re sacrifice of Jesus
      Eucharist , transubstantiation
      penance as defined by
Penance is self-punishment done to try to right a wrong, or the receipt of absolution from sins from a priest by fulfilling some requirement.

Sure, we aren't in the brighest moment of the church, but blame it all on the pope is wrong. After all he continues to oppose abortion, religious same sex marriage, female priests and so on. Tha fact that only 8 popes have been canonized in the last 1000 or so years shows that we've had pretty average men on the chair, but it's still the chair of St Peter and Chesterton, if alive, despite the critics he would probably make against the current papacy, would still recognize its authority.

But Peter Kreeft did. After being raised a staunch Calvinist.
Five justices on the Supreme Court are Catholic and although they may not have used their training in natural law to give the right to life to the unborn, their integrity and fidelity to the Constitution did lead them to overturn Roe v. Wade and sent the question back to the States. So hat tip to them!
I am convinced that Big is the New Bad.
      Big Pharma

      Big Media, etc.
But one of the worst of the Bigs is Big Religion.

Nice video - only thing is, going back to the "origins of the church" (1:40ff) should have brought him to the Orthodox Church, from which Roman Catholicism split in 1054 ... he did not quite go back far enough to reach the origins of the faith ... pre-denominational Catholicism is Orthodoxy ... worth checking out and following up on ... and all the statements that proclaim it to be the "only thing that ..." are more true about Orthodoxy than Roman Catholicism, which from an Orthodox viewpoint has tampered with truths unilaterally, especially after the split from the original body of the Orthodox ...

I was born of the Spirit at 32 years of age and it wasn’t a church nor “the” church that saved me, it was Jesus. The error I see many make is to attribute too much to the Church organization (and this isn’t only true of the Catholic organization, it is also true of many Protestant groups). What I mean by this is the fact that Jesus is the Truth as well as the dispenser of the Truth by His Holy Spirit, our Helper, our conscience, individuality not corporately. We individually make up what is The Church, not an organized body meeting in a building made with hands. It is a spiritual body that isn’t bound by physical boundaries. Mary worship, praying to Mary and other dead saints, veneration of popes and other people, and pomp and ceremony all have nothing to do with a true relationship with Jesus.

The essential issue is justification. Rome teaches that man has to cooperate with God in his own justification. The Bible teaches that God is just and the justifier of the one who has faith in the annointed (Christ) Jesus. Rome is wrong. The babbling on this video hides the deep error of Rome.

@@kenzeier2943 Exactly! Rome disqualifies itself immediately by siding with the likes of the "Judaizers" Paul rebukes in Galatians. Adding anything, anything, anything to the gospel Paul preached makes it invalid for salvation. See 1 Cor. 15:1-4, Rom. 5:1, Eph. 1:13, 2:8-10--- for starters.

When we decide for ourselves what is true and just there is no truth and justice. Something is true or not . It is not relative to what each of us decide is true. We need the church to convey the truth taught by Jesus and the apostles. Only one Church dates back to Jesus The Catholic Church. We don't worship anyone but the three persons in the Blessed Trinity.

You guys better read Exodus. God's instructions on how He is to be worshipped. And regarding asking for Mary's intercession, have you ever asked a friend to pray for you, or offered a prayer for someone? That's what Catholics do when they pray (communicate) to Mary. You shouldn't be very condescending, because if you answered Yes to the question, then are your prayers, or you, worth more than Mary's, the mother of Jesus, who responded to God's will without question, who accompanied her Son all the way to Golgotha and watched Him die for our salvation? Btw, we Catholics do not worship Mary as you all claim that's what we do. We honor her for she is favored by God. It is in the Bible in the Gospel of Luke, so you can check it out. Please do not speak of things you have no understanding of, or of misconceptions of the teachings of the Church. You may want to read the Cathechism, unless you want to remain hateful.

To be upfront I am an atheist. My legitimate question is how can it be said the church is the highest thing if they cover up atrocities like pedophilia? I am a person seeking to explore truth to all its extents so that quest has lead me here among other places. I need an explanation for the covering up of those acts.

    • @PVCGunita

Because the Church is indeed a hospital for sinners, not a museum of saints. Pedophilia is prevalent across all boards. I'm not defending it, but I just wanna say that pedophilia in institutions is small in comparison to pedophilia in other categories. These abuse is not just existent in the Church, but in other religions, churches, schools, organizations, and others. In addition, God used different kinds of people to lead everyone. And yes, this include sinful people, even though with authority and power. All men are sinful, and that include those who have positions. All individuals are indeed fallible, but the Church and her deposit of faith is infallible over everything else here in our world. I guess you can wonder why throughout the Church's history, many nations, empires, sects, beliefs fall when they existed side by side with the Church, yet the Church is still standing strong? Why when the world is surrounded by evil, the Church is like a fort or castle holding down the truth, despite the accusations given to them, inside and out? The Church experience this thing before in history, it's because of fallible people. Yet it continues to stand for some reason because the good of the world is also in the Church.

@@PVCGunita A part of me would never want the church to fall because religion in general does provide something to society. Certain religions are more violent then others and the reasons for their violence differ and violence is beneficial and helps maintain followership. That being said The Church leadership covered up Pedophilia. How is the truth of The Church valid? Are the leadership closer to God? Honest question. If they are How would god allow this to go on? This isn't new either. Hundreds of years. People are fallible but the Priest uses his connection to God, their fatherly position to gain the trust of his victim to utterly destroy them in the end. Why would anybody be inspired to maintain loyalty to a group of humans that are proven conspirators in child victimization? Why not go independent with your worship of god? As i said i am an atheist but some of the best people i know are Christian I just want to understand.

That is what the people in position should do. For they have a greater responsibility. @Scottfrye0001112222 Thank you for visiting our channel and leaving a comment; we truly appreciate it. Could you please clarify your statement? Specifically, what do you mean by referring to the Roman Church as "Romanism"? What issues do you see with the Pope, the Church, and its authority being based in Rome? Additionally, what are the points you believe need to be added? If you are genuinely interested in saving souls, as Christ said, "A new commandment I give you: Love one another as I have loved you," and since God desires our salvation, I must assume you, as a disciple of Christ, wish to save my soul. However, your comment seems too brief and lacking in explanation for such a profound topic. Are you suggesting that criticizing the Church as "Romanist" makes your view more credible and interested in our salvation? Perhaps you could start by addressing one of the arguments presented by G.K. Chesterton in this video.
I hope you're having a blessed day. Remember, if you aim to challenge what you perceive as falsehood, you must be more thorough, considering the salvation of souls and adherence to Christ's commandments: to love God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Wishing you a blessed day.
