We used have a lot these running in India during the 90's. They are very frugal and reliable. Needs little to no maintenance. And yeah they are fun too! Ride hard, ride safe.
I went nostalgic.I had this moped, (Kinetic Luna) in my medical school days,(1979 to 1985). It didn't have turn signals and ignition switch.Very frugal and utterly reliable.Didn't break down even once. I miss it now.
Mine is 1980. Made in India. Actually tore it down, now painting and fixing it up. Looked just like yours. Keep your gas mixture right, itll go allday.
I owned one during 1990`s..i used to go to school by this one..It was 55 -45 KMPL. and still a low cost maintained vehicle..under running condition resting at my garage.
I remember when mine was that quiet. I gutted the muffler and sealed the air box with rtv and stuffed a rag in the air box and now it accelerates about 3 times as fast as it did before and i can do 30 with no problem. Well as long as its not a windy day lol.
Looks pristine.. and seems a bit different and more sorted than ones we used to see here in India. Here we had a bench seat and no kill switch and no blinkers
I have the same bike as it's only the second one I've ever seen...mine's in the same shape as this one 340 mi on mine just took it out today for a little spin to go get smokes..
I had one when I was around 15, loved it. Lent it to a buddy who went to get parts for his and it got stolen from him (me). Had a lot of great memories on that bike.
Tuning your carb will dramatically increase your performance. You will reach 30mph no problem. To tune your carb, take it out for a 5 min ride, then pull of let it idle, then turn idle screw out until it gets slow, not so slow that it cuts out, then you get to a slow idle, turn that screw to the near highest point of idle. (not where your back tire spins at all)
On your carb, furthest from air intake manifold, there is a flat head screw. This screw is the idle mixture screw. That controls your idle, too fast your back tire spins during idle, to slow it cuts off. Your back wheel is spinning which is a way to fast idle speed. You should really tune your carb, or bad things will happen.
Very cool! If your still looking for a moped, I've heard good things about Tomos mopeds. They are similar to the kinetic, and relatively popular, so you may be able to find one.
my moped is also single gear, but original piaggios hase some models with automatic (scooter-like). for build in the vario transmition you would need rear gearbox with longer shaft, but this is rare to find. have a good fun on moped. I love mopeding. you neve know, wich hill you need push...
Thanks for nice review, The kinetic is made under licence (I believe) in india. formerly it was Piaggio Si (Bravo/Ciao engie is the same). I have a Bravo. it runs great, but my body is a bit heavier than tiny italians, Im with helmet over 220 pounds. So I ordered from mop-shop.de a cylinder kit Athena 70CC and it runs far better.
Very cool! When I was younger, I had a JAWA. My friend's dad started it up for me and it was great. I bought it and got it going once and never got it started again :( They're gone now So where is your plate young man?? ;) Not sure what it's like with your laws but in Canada last time I checked, you needed a moped plate, a full G liscence and insurance. Have fun, be safe....don't forget to buckleup....no wait, try to go limp in the event of a crash.
I have this same bike..there pretty cool..get like 80 to 100 mpg..mixed gas......not fast but fun...got mine back in 2008.. in a trade deal....for nothing really..a girl threw it in,, I traded her a pair of earrings she gave me 500$ for them ,,what I paid for them..and said if I wanted the bike I could have it..so I got it for free really....just took it to get smokes today.....they only run 25 MPH flat out..down hill 35 MPH..up hill 20....neat little bikes...mine is identical to this one....same color same year.....same shape,,340 miles on it...like new....... Clean the carburetor every few years and away you go....,,,,,,
Hi, friend, like your bike, just bought a brand new blue (2009) Kinetic TFR USA moped. I'm getting alot of good looks buzzing around the neighborhood jamming with my iPod....thanks for the video!
I've wanted one forever :o but since there aren't many where I live, I've never gotten the chance to ride one or anything. So recently, I've set my eye on getting a penny board instead, so that's how I found your channel! quite cool.
I have this very same bike..2003 model....it's a very good little machine.........I just took it out to run uptown for smokes.......👍👍😎.............I love it....had it for many years,,it has 340 miles on it..missing signals tho.....I'm trying to find replacements........
I got the same exact one, same color and everything. I took it up to almost 40 down a hill and now it is not running right so I guess this winter I will take a good look at it if now sooner.
So, you have a new engine or was this a new bike in 2010? Is Kinetic still making mopeds? I'd very much like to buy a new Tomos but I can't find one. No one seems to want to ship one to me and there aren't any dealer around here, in Florida. The only ones I can find are the Chinese ones. Maybe Kinetic might be a good alternative. If anyone knows where I can buy a new Tomos, please let me know.
Awesome video! My next door neighbor just move out and left one in the side walk with a sign for free exactly the same as yours, well not as shiny, so I took it!! I'm going to check it out and hope it works! Thanks for the great video im looking forward to enjoy this new toy...
Clean the tank and carb,,a bread tie is the only thing I found to fit the jet in the carb....burn off paper from bread tie..use it to clean the main jet out......be good to go..like I say clean the gas tank and lines really good...and clean the float bowl good to......run like new after.....if you know anything about motors you can do it easy.....take your time be careful taken off carb...you lose the one bolt and pry the carb off easy..don't brake it..... remove screws in bowl..dont loss any parts there very small.... Be careful....you can do it.....8 mm bolt I think on carb.....it's like a clamp fit.... wiggle off the carb slowly...make sure to put air filter back on right to....needs it to run right......
there is a wiki on moped army,4 percent breaking in,3 percent after that, the clutch shoes are fragile, you can get some parts at treat.tv such as the 17mmx1 puller. the clutch shoes interchange with vespa along with other parts.
I've recently scored on a 99 Kinetic that was abandoned, and left in front of a house that was moved out of.I am learning a lot since pushing t backwards all the way home. Any help would be much appreciated.Videos to come soon.
Easy to work on there's a thing on the rear end you can push or pull and you'll be able to push it forward... I have this the same exact bike... If you got any motor skills at all you'll be able to fix it..
@compchap im not sure about 55,000, but i have put almost 800 miles on it, with no problems at all. Its a long way to go, but its holding up great so far.
Hi , I lived in Los Angeles , I paid 300 for an old the Kenetic Trf , after many years , Right now , both brake shoes are gone. Do you know where can I buy the brake shoes ? Or what is the exact size of the diameter of the brake shoes ?? :) It is very hard to find a motorcycle shop to fix , i guess I have to replace it by myself. Thanks.
they're clones of the piaggio vespa setups, you can fit their engines and rear transmissions to these and go fater, but I dont think they're upgrade parts will fit a kinetic directly due to slight differences.
I've had one for the past 15 years never giving me any trouble... Just got to know how to work on them and love them that's all.. like anything else you'll be down and abuse it it's going to fall apart...
for two reasons. I like the look of mopeds, and if i would have gotten a scooter, i would have needed a motorcycle license to use it. Moped do not require a motorcycle license in my state
Hey! Thanks for the reviews (thanks to you I chose a good cruiser board). I'm currently considering buying one of these (250 miles on it, for 600), and noticed your review is from some years ago. Is it still in a working condition, and if so how many miles are on it? (I know the general mileage limit for cars, but not for scooters) Thanks in advance!
Hey, They are very good machines, I sold mine to a friend when I went away to college, and he still uses it to this day. Try talking the price down to $500, in my opinion thats more in the ballpark than $600. Hope this helps!
couple questions...1.)when you take the air filter off is there an actual filter or just a metal thing with some plastic thing with three holes behind it? 2.)Does your rear wheel make a clanking noise? like inside the gear box?
in connecticut the moped must be under 2 brake horse power and have no more than a 50cc engine. Also it must have pedals since the police catagorize it as a bike with a helper motor.

He lied that it got stolen.
Actually that little lever on the left is a decompression valve the choke is on the carb
Yep you're right..

started of as friendly advice but ended sounding like a threat lol
Just an FYI. that handle bar switch is a cylinder decompress lever not a choke, the choke lever is down by the air filter. Happy riding!

Tomos's are very popular and available all around. Check out craigslist they're always for sale.
i believe it dependes which state you live in. Also individual towns have separate laws. Research "state moped laws" on google.
500 $. Please go through the TVS mopped TVS-XL 100. Just check the prize in India and futures, TVS made a engine with Fi variant in Mopped.
