This moped is called a LUNA TFR. (Telescopic Front & Rear suspension). The lever you use to put off the motor is called the decompression lever. The choke you were showing should remain down, which comes up as you increase the throttle. The fuel knob facing down is mains on & facing upwards is the reserve fuel to take you to the nearest fuel station. Left & right are the shut off mode. It has a gear box in the rear wheel where by pressing a simple button you can convert it into a bicycle. When this model was launched by Kinetic Motors, the catch line was “BE KIND TO YOUR BEHIND” because the earlier model did not have shock absorbers in the rear. The front had torsion springs that was simple & effective. The ex showroom cost of the moped in 1974 was 1900 only. This beauty was an Italian made machine & used to come with Pirelli tyres & belt.

Kinetic luna was a perfect competitor for the tvs xl 50 of that time .But everyone bought xl 50 instead of luna due to aesthetically good than luna.
XL 50 flies compared to this. 😂
I used to have LUNA during my college days. I used to ride at 40Kms speed. Mileage was 50Kms
Correction, Belt drive to the wheel by single gear reduction in the rear brake drum and crank by pedals Faisalbhai ...I worked in Kinetic Engg Ahmednagar as a trainee Engineer. It was a luxury to ride a Luna and Spark those days..Love the Review 😂😂
I used to ride this to my school in my childhood days literally in the 2000's.. It was my Grandfather's. After he passed away, it was kept aside and that was the moment I took the opportunity to learnt how to ride and it's been a wonderful experience with the brake wires that pop off when hard breaking which got me punches from my dad.. and after soo many years nearly 22 years.. I once again got the opportunity to remember that Kinetic Luna by this video. Thanks Faisal for bringing back my childhood memories.. ♥️♥️♥️
The Luna was out of the market by 1990. Kinetic had brought out the SPARK by then. A 3 gear, kick start machine. A sort of a mini motorbike with a foot platform running on both sides. Another superb machine but flopped badly in the market. LUNAs are still found in plenty in cities like Indore & Pune.
luna has a very special place in my heart because it was the first motor vehicle that I ever rode. I still remember how difficult it was to get a pickup and ride it on slopes😂. Sad that today's generation will never get a chance to experience this.

2.25 inch cross section (about 57 cm), 16 inch radius tires. Older notions had cross sections mentioned in inches also, with no sidewall height indication; nowadays they are mentioned in cm with sidewall height in percentage of cross section, as we all know.

My first ride, learned to ride luna by sitting on the carrier with my cousin coz seat height was so high my feet couldnt reach ground as i was in 6th grade,it was fun learning experience at my native place,in summer holidays

For pure cycling function, there is a very tiny press button on chain cover on left side end. Awesome.
So you can drive it if out of gas.
Once ridden a hero puch that was quite opposite to luna, it had no issues with climbing bridges or overtaking autos. Quite an experience it wad

Luna TFR was not a bad machine as depicted in this video. This particular moped ridden in this review has lots of work to be done like brakes, engine overhaul, etc. In its hay days it topped 45 km/hr with a single rider of around 65 kg (those days we would hardly see obese people. All were thin). We can attach a square seat at the rear if needed. Climbing inclines was pretty decent for a moped in its category.
This is my first vehicle where i learnt riding. my grandfather teached me in this vehicle my grandfather had a ambassador, 2 rajdoots & 3 lunas this is his last vehicle after his retirement not exactly the same model but a luna.

This is KINETIC LUNA TFR PLUS. KINETIC is an Indian Company. KINETIC MOTORS. I had ridden this moped when i was in my High School itself. At that time it was very popular. Mileage used to be around 50 to 60 Kmpl. Speedometer upto 80 KMPH. Maximum Speed was around 70 Kmph.
With ATGATT and riding luna, perfect!

@@surajkashyap782 no. I did trip of 302km from my village at ratnagiri to panvel, 3 months back. Did my tank full n do not exceed speed above 40. Goa road conditions are not ment for above 40 anyways. It takes only 2.7L to full my tank again at panvel.
@@subodhk2130 lol platina 100 tank capacity is 10 ltrs, google it, don't mislead anyone, I know platina is a good mileage giving bike but don't expect 110kmpl,80kmpl is maximum real life mileage, whether you drive it within 30kmph,40kmph or even 50kmph,so please check with your bikes mileage once, empty your fuel tank and fill it with 1 litre of petrol only, then you can accurately get the mileage 😂
he said the tank was 2.7 litre deficit after the trip, not that the tank capacity is 2.7

In LUNA, there were 3 Models. LUNA TFR,
LUNA DOUBLE PLUS and
LUNA SUPER.
TVS MOTORS had TVS XL and TVS XL PLUS.

I Don't know wht the original company of Luna was... though but used to love riding my uncle's Luna as a child in early 1990s...Just cannot imagine this bike if fitted with 150 cc engine and disk brakes ,it would be Blitzkrieg.😎

But we used to ride 3 fellows on it and going like a rocket in those days. The one he is driving is the second version (Face lift) the original was having bigger wheels and better pick up too. I still have the latest (the Last) version still with my colleague if anybody is interested.
