  • Do you feel in desperate need of a rest?
    Most of us are underestimating our need to rest to an almost criminal degree, and Martha is talking about why that is-and how to change it-on this episode of The Gathering Room.
    We live in a society that wants us to work constantly. However, nature says that we need to rest regularly-in fact, this is absolutely crucial. “You can live without intense activity,” Martha reminds us, “but you cannot live without rest.”
    Rest is your connection to the Divine and comes in many different forms-it’s not just lying down and napping!-and connecting to the Divine is what gives you rest and nourishes your soul.

    I love this, going through a time when I have no income or financial cushion, trying to live as an artist after decades of trying to do this while doing what the rest of my family wanted me to do. Thank you for your wisdom, Martha! The world needs this so much!

    Yay comments are open! I'm glad you mentioned needing more rest after a workout. I always believed you only needed one day based on alternating leg and arm days etc. I need at least 2 days for my muscles to heal. It seems related to the ayurvedic doshas - vata types need more rest I believe.

    I'm realising I've been doing rest for the body but my mind.is still exhausted..i have to rest my mind
