So, you are in Burleigh 9! When I was a student (before you were born!) I was in Burleigh 5 (1981-82) and Burleigh 11 (1983-84). We had a little less security then - anyone could walk anywhere on WP - there was no boundary fence or keys- and the external doors to the blocks were open - keys only for the flats themselves. Also, Acomb house was not yet built - we had "the mounds" to the north of the block- which had been built as noise protection for the flats from the planned intermediate ring road (which was never built). We could sledge on it in the winter and have BBQs on it in the summer. It was a lot more like a wasteland then - the newer houses on Acomb Street and Cecil Street had not been built, and the Science Park was just a twinkle in someone's eye! You could see over fields to the (then) Harp Lager Brewery on Moss Lane East/Princess Parkway in Moss Side, and the only building standing was a pub (The Old Abbey). Apart from that, the interiors haven't changed much! Welcome to Manchester!
Wow, this is so cool. I honestly thought this is the only BH at whitworth 🤣🤣🤣. Security is far better now. we have a police house inside the residence.
Continue to strive Young Lady, the world is your oyster!
Thank you very much dear🙏🙏.
