As majority of players and creators in this game have covered what their subjective view on what the best and worst main levels are, I wanted to try and reach a more conclusive result that can be deemed more towards the objective side. Sure it won't be a perfect result, it realistically never will be but meh. They're Geometry Dash levels, I'm sure you'll manage. To summarize, here we have a video where part of the community bonded together to vote on what they deem to be the worst and best main levels in Geometry Dash. I could probably put together some more votes for similar topics, I got a couple of ideas for it. Let me know if you think that is a good idea.

Clutterfunk is the level that makes or breaks a Geometry Dash player. Its brutal difficulty relative to every level before it is the barrier which separates out those who would rather actually have a life than grind this 4 dollar cube game. On the other hand, Clutterfunk is the first level that really gives you a feeling of power when you beat it, and those who do will generally become GD degenerates.

One important piece of RobTop's main level design I feel should be pointed out is the way the song is edited to cut out/skip to certain measures of the song.
This is easily done the best in Deadlocked, where large parts of the song are cut out to gain opportunity for more diverse music representation within a level that isn't excessively long.

I think that I know why it is that people find the first dual in hexagon force hard; I think that people just get confused by how it works. How the end of it works is that you do two clicks with the top cube, then two clicks with the bottom cube. The part that confuses people is the second set of two clicks, with the last two clicks being further apart than the first two, despite both sets of two clicks being a jump, then a yellow orb.

Its also placed really well in my opinion being after clutterfunk (an intense and relatively challenging level) and right before the first demon. I think the reason why Base After Base and Can't Let Go are at the bottom two spots is because unlike all other official RobTop levels, they don't introduce anything new. You could say that Can't Let Go introduces jump pads & orbs while upside down, but that's not something different enough to have it stand out as an idea/mechanic on its own. While this issue isn't enough to put them down here on their own, it does make the levels less interesting and memorable, putting them at an unfavorable disadvantage compared to other official levels.

    • @aithrasherboi
      @aithrasherboi Před 5 měsíci +1

Yeah, but Base After Base and Can't let go, specifically Base After Base, are meant to be a test. Base After Base uses everything you know in a easy to learn format to prepare you for the Final Tests of Can't Let Go and Jumper. Can't Let Go is also meant to be a more difficult test, but it fails compared to Base After Base, which is fun, simple, and doesn't try to overwhelm you by making difficult timings, while not also being incredibly easy. Mind you, RobTops levels are geared towards new players, so Base After Base will be harder, and thus a better challenge to come back to. Also Base After Base and Can't Let Go have some of the best songs in the game. They're a bop!

My pick for sure goes to ToE2. Having near perfect music, gameplay and decoration aside, I genuinely never had as much fun in GD as playing and learning this level. At first I was really intimidated by it, never passing 15%, but once I started practicing and figuring out every part, I fell in love with it. Every part flows so nicely, and even learning to go through the difficulty bumps was so satisfactory to me. When I beated it for the first time, my reaction was to play it again after celebrating, unlike Deadlocked, where my reaction when I beated was more like "Thank God I'll never have to play this ever again".

Its not in this list but my Favourite Official Level is Dash. Sure its gimmicky and *That spider part* is extremely awful for a game mechanic introduction, but it has a lot of care put into the small details. like Robtop did not have to put little crumble particles in the pre drop buildup but he did and I appreciate it. Say what you want about the deco in the 2nd half but it still has as much care put it into as every other part if not just underutilzing colors.
The 2nd Spider part is a terrible introduction to arrow triggers whatwith the drop containing possibly the best arrow trigger usage in the entire game.
The tower sequence might genuinely be my favourite part, and dont even get me started on the best music this game uses in its official levels. Not just for the Tower part but for the whole level.

My main gripe with electroman adventures is the gameplay. There are good parts, but the level has a large portion of bad ufo gameplay, sometimes devolving into a literally flappy bird level. Despite the fact that there could have been more variation in the decoration, it still looks pretty much exactly the same throughout.

Fingerdash will always be my favourite just due to the deco, how satisfying it was to do the wave for the first time and how simply it taught me the spider. I do like the coins because they did actually make me struggle at first and overall I'm just in favour of the gameplay.
I understand why people dislike it and how it was most likely rushed, but it wont stop me from thinking it's the greatest just by how balanced the difficulty was for me with nice deco following it.

Honestly, can’t say I disagree on much in this list. The only things I would change would be putting Geometrical Dominator in the top 5, xStep around 7-8, ToE 2 at #1 and Deadlocked closer to 9-10.
ToE II and Electroman Adventures would absolutely be the definitive top 2, personally; the former has my favorite gameplay/song (and is top 3-5 of all easy demons for me, personally), while the latter is arguably the most memorable main level for me personally and is the most unique by far; I honestly can’t think of a user-created level that captures the same charm and vibes that isn’t a v2. Plus, the song is such a banger and fits the level perfectly.
However, it is worth noting that I think the best level relative to the update it was released in is definitely Electroman. ToE II is phenomenal, but I think that is more reflective of the update itself rather than the level being something truly innovative. Elecroman is representative of a lesser update, yet it still competes with a level from the best update in the game (in my opinion) on quality, which speaks volumes in my opinion.

It kind of feels unfair to lump pre-1.3 levels together with 1.3+ because of the limits in decoration, so I will talk about them separately. When I played GD Lite with the 1.0 levels, I was really hooked by the simple idea of a cube jumping on my phone to an interesting background, various blocks, songs and gameplay. My young self loved it perhaps in large part thanks to the early levels' simplicity.
As for later levels, there are two where I personally felt & still feel an almost magical experience, embodiments of their eras - Electrodynamix and ToE2. They're immersive, intense and near perfect - barely any user level from their respective updates can be considered better. But there is also the joyful optimism of early 2.0 in Geometrical Dominator, happiness of Electroman Adventures, the iconic status of Clubstep, novelty of Hexagon Force - each level has something to offer. Since 2.0 was released, RobTop was no longer the one who dictates how levels are built, so that sort of marked the end of the first era of GD. Rob carried the game with the main levels initially, but then the community took over. Still, it's nice to reflect on how well many of Rob's levels from 2013 to 2015 have stood the test of time.

Can't let go however really stumped me. I was stuck on it for so long I got bored and didn't play gd for nearly a year. (aside from when I was bored on my phone).
When I finally beat it, it was like I had my mojo back. I felt good at the game again, then I got up to clutterfunk. I was stuck on clutterfunk from 2019 to earlier this year. Now I'm stuck on electrodynamics, and it's PAIN

Awesome video! Honestly, I find the criticism about the wave in Deadlocked unjustified. It's not meant for spamming, you can cautiously click and make it through every time. It's challenging yes, but not luck based. 78% is a different story and even tho it's my favorite level and I just love to play it, the transition kills me most of the time. I actually find the entry to the first wave at 13% quite hard too, as you have to drop at 3x speed first to enter the wave. Adding the speed portal a little later would have helped.
ToE2 has to be my second favorite level and it's similarities to Supersonic make me appreciate it even more. The awkward ship part with the invisible and breaking blocks somehow fits for me and the challenging UFO parts or the fake blocks in the Ball part make it really enjoyable I think

I'll always love Can't Let Go. Even though it's quite unbalanced, I think the challenged it offered to me as a new player years ago was exactly what kept me intrigued by this game. Besides Electrodynamix and demons, this was the first level that got me stuck (took me more attempts than Clutterfunk on my phone), so it definitely solidified it's presence within my memory. Perhaps I enjoy it more than other levels because I played it so much to beat it and I had an easier time with the others? I don't know. I love the song in it, too.
