Love you Hair God. Ur so beautiful and intelligent
@@KanikaNewsome-pj6jb thank you so much!
@@AfrikanHairGod aww🩷🙏🏾🤭
People become uncomfortable when they dont see hair that is high density. This is why I like your videos and approach.
This is why that lady Aisha or whatever her name is was able to get away with pretending she had healthy hair before a professional schooled her. Her strands are coarse and she has high density & uneducated people equate that to health instead of just genetics. They apply the opposite to low density fine hair when that’s not the case
"I don't cut for aesthetic, I cut for health." Period. Thank you, Sir. ❤😘
As someone with fine hair (and who's been in your chair before) it hurts that so many people and stylists still do not understand that we fine-haired naturals will mostly always have what others think is "see through" hair and ends, even when the hair healthy. I'm not a stylist and not saying much but I have always thought hair diameter should be considered for care. Thank you very much for this video.
I had the same issue with a stylist in November. She saw my see through hair as unhealthy but she doesn't do natural hair she doesn't even do her own natural hair.
My client is very consistent with me. She comes every 4 Weeks and gets a natural style that she wears for a whole month.
She hasn't had any treatments:
No Deep Conditioning
No Steam Treatment
No Protein Treatment
No Heat Styling
All that we style with is water (vitamin water) & hair grease. Clarify as needed every month and rinse and repeat. Healthy hair is not hard to achieve. Length retention is not challenging. You just need to handle and maintain your hair the way that works best for your texture.
Her 1st cut a year ago, she had to lose about 4 inches due to thinning and breakage. I ALWAYS tell people that the 1st cut is ALWAYS the WORST. After you get the hair to a healthy place, you make it easier for you to maintain health and retain length.
Do you know of any stylists with this same belief in the Charlotte, NC area? I cannot get to you in GA but I don’t know how to trim my own hair. I only look for a stylist when I need a trim one or twice a year but I feel like my hair gets shorter or stays the same. I’ve been natural for over a decade and still not reached my goal.
😭 I really hope in the future Mr Narada opens his own school for natural hair stylists, he’s such a good teacher! He’s kind, can be silly, takes no bs, explains things clearly without using complicated language, he doesn’t shame or judge people who come to him for help, he is just an all around lovely and trustworthy human being❤️
🥲❤️🥰😇
“…why are you asking me that question…?” 😐😒
IMMEDIATE cackling.
Immediate, you hear me?? 😂
I got out of a chair a few weeks ago. I asked the stylist to clean up my split ends I call it dusting. I could tell she was about to do the beauty school trim. And I could fell how she was parting my hair. I told her to stop. While we're ahead. I like how she washed and blow dried my hair. And we're on good terms. I get my hair trimmed once a year out of state. Usually only time I use heat. This stylist complimented my hair and I thanked her and asked how do you think I retain my length? I am not afraid anymore to speak up and say no.
We need more hairstylists like you Narada! There’s too many scissor happy hairstylists that don’t understand different types of hair canvases like you do.
Too many stylists act like one size fits all for hair which is why so many people aren't reaching their hair goals or they have unrealistic expectations of their hair. More stylists like you are needed, Narada!
4:07 so basically people aren't retaining length because stylists are either not cutting enough of what needs to go or they are cutting too much 😮💨
I feel like people stick to one way of doing things and then they want to ride it to the wheels come off whether it's appropriate or not. I've gotten so much bad hair care and bad hair care advice because folks did not want to acknowledge that I have fine High porosity hair. I don't use color I don't use chemical relaxers, so my hair is not damaged. But so many stylists, and so much advice on the internet wasn't able to answer to the needs of my hair. Hair Care is an art, not a program. I wish people worked on developing their skills, and I'm glad that you do the work.
Perfect explanation. People really have nerve and wonder why their 12 years of growth is still at their shoulders
I’ll say this again here… your knowledge is tough to match! You & Hennii are the truth 💯.
So many people don’t even take the time to cater to anything past aesthetics, especially with fine hair.
OUR👏🏽STRANDS👏🏽LOOK👏🏽 & 👏🏽BEHAVE👏🏽DIFFERENT👏🏽!
Man, I could watch an entire day's clips of you trimming and explaining. So soothing.
Thank you!
See i need you lol. I haven't been to a stylist for years when I was younger i had some trauma stories from stylists and I just stopped going. I don't wanna pay $200+ for hair i'm unhappy with and that I know I'm gonna throw it in a bun for convience.
I cannot wait to sit in your chair. I love that you focus on healthy hair vs the final look of a hairstyle and emphasize how healthy hair looks different for everyone. Charge what you are worth and your art is one of a kind. Keep doing you boo! ❤
Educating the populace 💅🏾 ❤ 👏🏾
Only trimming once a year? Shoot I can definitely afford to fly to you 1 to 2 times a year if needed. I definitely want to book with you at some point. I love the education you give and your personality! ❤❤
As someone with fine hair, I appreciate this .
👑#AfrikanHairGod ... Thanks for always gifting us with clear explanations to healthy hair trimming and length retention. It is greatly appreciated❣️🦸💈
Thank you sooooo much! I've just figured this out..listening to soooo many stylist in our community that mislead me to believe that if my hair density isn't thick it needed to be cut😢 and that wasn't the case at all I have fine hair and it's less dense ❤ Thank you so much for validating all of us fine haired girlies❤
Although I'm relaxed I absolutely love your technique, your approach and your knowledge base... your clients are very lucky to have you as their stylist.
Thank you so much!
This is why i don't go to hairstylist. I'm from Trinidad btw. I cut my hair on my own... Maybe every 8 months to a year and I mean a proper cut. I see no sense in cutting every 6-8 weeks. Literally that like as it grows it's gone because they get scissors happy. As you said, they mistake what damage hair is from what's actually healthy.
Yeah thats crazy every 8 weeks maybe if permed/ bleached hair. I like every 3-4 months and now on stretched hair
@friedchicken892 tbf, my stylist says every 3-4 months too. These stylists saying 6 to 8 weeks are crazy and I'm glad I have never met up with one like that. Still, I'm scared that with my fine hair, they may be over cutting. I mean, my stylist told me I had thinning to a certain point last time when I had a trim. I just hope it wasn't her over reading because I definitely feel like a former stylist I went to in NY was going that. She just kept cutting large amounts each time and I'd been stuck at the same length.
@@iateyursandwiches Yeah she trying to get your money🙃🙃😩smh. I feel like even 3 might be to often. If youre not using heat, hair isnt dyed and bleached or permed. whats the point? Some people only need to have the hair trimmed 2x a yearp
Finally a stylsit that understands hair!!! I have fine hair too! Great explanation!
Love it! So nice to see somone with my type of strands. Her hair is beautiful
Thank you!! My hair is fine as well and I keep trying to explain to people that you have to handle it differently than others!!
I wish I lived near you Narada😊
Right 😊
Thank you. People cutting off peoples healthy hair just because its not all the same density is crazy. Layered hair cant exist anymore? We have to all have a straight line?
Wow thank you so much for this thorough explanation! I think your client has a similar hair texture to mine and I always thought my ends looking see-through meant I had to cut them off even though they felt healthy to me. 😢 I was also trimming every 3 months, then every 6 months for the past few years and couldn’t understand why I wasn’t seeing growth! I will be following these tips into the New Year and ignoring the nay sayers! I have to add you are probably one of the only stylists I would trust to work on my hair if I lived near you. I have never been to a salon (other than for braids with extensions) because my mother always took great care of mine and my 5 sister’s hair. ❤
I swear it's a lost art.
I like how informative you are ❤😊don’t worry about what everybody saying
👍👍👍
I’m so happy you posted this video! I have fine strands and my hair looks similar. I was about to chop chop.
I learn so much from your videos!!!! Thank you. Omg your a godsend!!!🙏🏽💖
thank you for this video! i have fine hair as well and a lot of these videos out showing "split ends" make it seem like my hair will never be healthy
You are the first stylist I’ve actually seen examine the hair closely like that ❤️❤️
I love the great advice and the handsome guy
😍
I ❤ this man. I'm no professional hair stylist but i know about hair and I love how he takes care of people's hair and he did things the way it sound be done. I was not professionally trained but learned a lot when i was younger
Why do we need to brake ppl down bc we don’t agree. Why can’t we just go oh this ain’t for me n keep pushing?
Hair looks amazing. Especially given she's only trimmed her haor a year ago.
I Learned so much 😊
Beautiful hair
Gotta book an appointment as SOON as my money gets right!
I need to make an appt. ASAP!
Once again, great video!!! Very informative!
Great job
Praise break🎉🎉🎉🎉
I haven’t had a actual haircut in 2 years I know my head a mess
I would love too come to you
Narada, I plan to transition from loose natural (wng styles) to locs early next year. I have fairy nots and some hair breakage likely from my 1.5 y wng journey 🤦🏾♀️. Do I have to trim my hair before starting locs.
Can you put hair grease on dry hair
I have fine, low density hair. I have spaces or "see through" hair. Even when it is freshly cut.
Also my hair never looks like it has any weight to it. No matter how evenly it's cut. My hair always has that wispy look to it.
What do u think about Cyndoll? I'm just asking I'm a cosmetologist (24 years) and I think she makes up a lot of things. Just saying..I just asked because I glanced at one of her videos a few days ago.
I think he has looked at her foolishness before. He has pretty much covered the majority of problematic stylists on social media.
Yes, she does make up a lot of things. She seems really bitter about the fact that she doesn't know how to take care of her own hair so she in turn wants to tell other people their hair is bad or damaged or whatever to make her feel better about herself. She just has a lot of fake news type videos in general. I was surprised to see that she has a following of people who actually take her seriously.
Why is everyone asking me about her all of a sudden? Is it about some comments she made about natural hair styling being damaging?
@@AfrikanHairGod I think because she has been trending on CZcams this week.
@AfrikanHairGod honey yes I said she sounds like d### fool
Hey do u accept kids my 5 yr old hair dis length I need help
Only person i would trust to cut my hair.
That intro!!!!! HE-larious!!!!
@AfrikanHairGod nothing to do with this video. In February I’m restocking certain products on Amazon. ONLY IF you need to add anything else please do so I can give you commission. 🥰
K gimme a couple hours so i can get home and make adjustments
I have to question always my hair always comes out dry when I blow dry. High heat or low heat. I use the Revoln chi silk and treseme spray. What am doing wrong?
Hi T, have you tried deep conditioning your hair after you shampoo? I never deep condition my hair and also found my hair was always dry after blow drying. The last time I blow dried it, I deep conditioned after shampooing and blow dried hair wasn't dry and the moisture lasted in my hair for so much longer. What helped was also that I used a leave in before I blow dried. I honestly think having moisturized hair prior to blowdrying is the key on not having a dry Blowout. But I would think it's mostly in the deep conditioner because I think it moisturizes your hair from the inside in stead of just applying a leave in on top of your hair. I'm still trying to figure something similar out, too! Hope this helps!
Hi Narada😊
Have you ever heard of Cyndoll on CZcams? Well I mentioned you to her because you, her, and Glow in Peace, get so fed up with the natural hair community...with all of its misconceptions and lies.
But she (Cyndoll), does not believe in wash n gos and twist outs. Nor does she believe in oils/grease on the scalp. I heard her mention Rosewater and Witch Hazel. She believes that oils and grease clogs the hair follicles because we have our own sebum.
When I find the name of that youtuber, she mentioned castor oil to be non-comedogenic. Is this true? If you care to comment on what I said😊
Thank you -not everyone wants their ends European hair- straight cut across. Health is what counts.
Wait who is he talking to when he said ‘why are you asking me that question?’
someone commented because they were live on tiktok
I would've liked to hear the reason why you dont cut higher to learn because so much of what we're told and taught is incorrect information.
He explained in the video. He doesn’t cut for aesthetics he cuts for health. Basically don’t go higher if the hair isn’t damaged.
He didn’t have to cut higher with those bottom layers because all that was healthy hair; once he did that slight trim to create the baseline on the hair.
He did however cut “into the hair”, which is when you see him lifting the higher layers of hair up and out to cut that bit of breakage off.
Cutting hair this way instead of straight across and based off a white towel actually removes damage where it’s at as opposed to continuing to chop healthy hair for an aesthetic, and still never even reaching the higher up layers to address damage.
Hope that helps! 💜
BooYa
Many stylists wouldn’t even bother to really look at the hair first. It’s stressful out here not knowing who to trust 🥲
