  • I would like to thank you in advance for this video for 15:35 to spend your time watching this video.
I recently bought a beautiful cast iron Christmas tree stand on the Internet.
I decided to beautify him a bit before Christmas :)
Some of the Christmas history of my country:
Christmas is the second most important Christian holiday and is considered the most important holiday of the year for non-Christians in the European cultural environment. A number of local or national rituals and customs are therefore associated with the Christmas celebration and the Advent period that precedes them. The Christmas season is considered to be the period from Advent to the Three Kings.
The eve of the feast day of Jesus Christ, December 24, Christmas Eve, or more precisely Christmas Eve, has been considered by humans for a long time as a special time when magic is more powerful. Some folk customs that are practiced on this day date back to the pre-Christian era. Around 1400 the Benedictine monk Jan of Holešov described the seven most common Czech folk traditions associated with Christmas Eve. These customs were:
fasting, meals and alms, mutual gifts,
preparation of white bread in the form of a wedge or plait (probably a Christmas cake),
eating and slicing fruits, caroling and carnival parades,
laying straw on the floor. (wikipedia source)

    00:01 mail arrived, let's unpack :)
00:20 here it is, a beautiful old cast-iron Christmas tree stand
01:20 we start with disassembly, we use the screw release to loosen the central screw
01:45 but despite all the effort, the screw said he would not go out.
01:50 screw attracting the Christmas tree to unscrew succeeded
01:59 To remove the center screw, I took the angle grinder to help and grind the screw
02:17 then it was necessary to cut out the new M8 thread so I drilled a hole with a 6.4 mm drill and used a set of taps for the M8 thread
    02:52 test finished well :)
02:59 before the beginning of the renovation it was necessary to remove the old old paint and for this it is best as a commonly used cleaner - sodium hydroxide (caustic)
03:17 We heat the water and pour it carefully into the container with the object to be cleaned. (so it says the manufacturer) but it can be done vice versa. It is very important to wear protective equipment such as gloves, glasses, apron and repirator! I recommend doing this in the open air, not in the room! Because sodium hydroxide is a very dangerous caustic!
03:43 after 24 hdly leaching christmas stand rinse with water
04:20 for cleaning I used a steel hand brush, but as can be seen in 24 hours in lye removing old paint did not help. The leaching would have to be repeated, but I didn't want to wait, so I helped me mechanically with an old screwdriver and then with a large steel brush.
05:53 after about an hour of hard cleaning with a large steel brush, it was still necessary to clean the less accessible places with a smaller steel brush in the drill.
05:58 Finally, the old paint is removed completely, followed by a cosmetic treatment in the form of overflow file removal after metal casting.
06:17 Iron the drilled part with a steel disc.
06:33 Follows the most important step of each renovation - caress a dog :)
    06:45 Application of rust remover
07:17 After the rust remover has dried, clean the surfaces with metal wool for better adhesion of the primer.
    07:53 Primer follows
08:13 I applied the green synthetic topcoat after the base layer had dried.
08:30 Finish has dried up and let us paint :) acrylic paints.
12:04 To imitate the age of the Christmas stand, lightly spray with a black synthetic spray and then wipe the best with a cotton cloth.
12:43 Finished parts by screw M8
13:19 Comparison before and after renovation
14:15 An artificial tree has been installed as part of a nature survey. And my girls could start decorating it :)
15:04 Well girls you did it :) Just wait to see if there will be any gift under it :)
