Never forget Omar talking about how gigantic Man Thing is
J hear its giant size
Came here after watching Werewolf by Night to hear what you had to say about the omni. Thankfully Cheap Graphics Novels still had copies!
Thought the same thing
My favorite part is at 16:42 when you called him Swamp Thing. Perfect.
Damnit... lol did I?
4:40 too :)
i didn't even catch it lol
@@jacobjohnson7108 Do not tell Gerry Conway!
Great looking Omnibus. I figure both Len Wein and Roy Thomas had probably grown up reading the Heap character which is more than likely an inspiration for both characters
Best thing Marvel ever did was change that font for the omnis to make it unique to each book and their title/logo. I love it
There are so many bizarre inconsistencies across the omnibuses. I mean Just look at the Hickman X-Men omnibus against X of Swords and HoX / PoX? It feels like they don't have consistent art direction. But yeay, I agree with you. Those unique logos make the books look way better.
"And that's pretty much the origin of Swamp Thing..." hahaha
I'm surprised it's not mentionned more in the comments. I bursted out laughing when i heard it
I have never read a Man-Thing story, but I think Omar has sold me on this. I have the Bronze age Swamp Thing omnibus, and would love to compare and contrast.
I just got this omni. stoked to dive in. listening to your review while I work.
If man thing is getting a reprinting, that gives me hope for all the other more popular books that are perpetually sold out like JMS Spidey vol 1, annihilation, uncanny X-Men vol 2, etc
Okay, seriously. Thank you for this. I had no idea what Man thing was, until I saw this video. Thank you. This sounds really up my alley.
I’ve had this pre-ordered since February. Can’t wait!
4:37 "That's pretty much the origin of Swamp Thing" lmao, my thoughts exactly. This looks cool though, I've never read Man Thing at all, just assumed he was a Swamp thing rip-off, but I might check this out.
I think Man Thing premiered first
man thing came first surprisingly
Thanks Omar, I've read odd issues of Man Thing over the years, including the black and white origin (and do own that issue with Wundarr's first app), but have never consumed a massive run of the character. Great video review - you've got me thinking now about snagging a copy!
Thanks for all the hard work and great videos!
Got mine preordered will look great beside tomb of Dracula.
Yes we need that OHC with the rest of Gerbers man thing material.
Thanks
It's great to see an older omnibus like this reprinted. I wasn't aware of omnibus collections when they first began appearing, so missed out on a lot of stuff I wish I could have bought at reasonable prices. I figured this one would probably never get a reprinting, so i bought a shrink wrapped copy of the original printing for around cover price a few years ago and have never regretted the purchase. I'm always hoping Marvel reprint those other early omnis like X-Men Vol. 1, Mighty Thor 1, and Iron Man 1 & 2, all of which go for multiples of the cover price nowadays. It was cool to recently get new printings of Silver Surfer 1 and Captain America by Jack Kirby, which I've longed for, so perhaps they'll get around to the others in time. Thanks for the overview and pointing out the differences between the two editions, Omar.
Steve Gerber is one of my favorite comic writers all time
One of mines too, with Jim Starlin
Ah ! A Man-Thing comparison video !
Oh yeah! That’s what man thing Mondays are about.
The reprint physically seems to be great based on your copy. That's definitely something that makes it more tempting to eventually pick up for me.
Man-Thing Monday!!! Let’s go!!! Lol Have been hyped for this since yesterday!
Omar, if I end up getting this omni because of your excellent overview, I'm going to be so mad at you! :)
Can't wait for this one!
Thanks for explaining the real life origins between the existence of Swamp Thing and Man Thing, I'd always been curious about that and figured one must be a simple attempt at ripping off the other. The truth was far more fascinating than that.
Very strange how some pages in the new printing are coloured differently, yet others matched the original perfectly.
BTW, is there a special prize for accurately counting how many times you accidentally said Swamp Thing during the video Omar? 😉 So easily done and I can't help wondering how many takes ended up on the cutting room floor...
I like how you said "That is pretty much the origin of Swamp Thing". Honestly, pretty correct - even though this is Man-Thing. :)
Hey Omar! Are you going to give us any marvel omnibus announcements this week? 😁 Greetings from Portugal
Yes sir. And more coming. Just about every week there will be one. :)
the creators on marvel horror/monster books made them better than you would think they would be. some of these issue were almost poetic.
I’d love to see an OHC with the missing Steve Gerber stories. They skipped over Marvel Two In #1 that Steve wrote and Iron Man annual #3. Both featured Man-Thing written by Steve.
I'm glad they made this Man-Thing thicker :p
When David Gabriel was in the chat a few weeks back I asked him if there were plans for an Omnibus of the Marvel monster magazines like Monsters Unleashed. Unfortunately he said "no" but, here's hoping as that B&W artwork is beautiful.
I'm doing a re-read of my Claremont Uncanny X-men omnis, and just yesterday read the UXM 144 meetup with Cyclops, Man-Thing and D'Spayre. I rather enjoyed that issue, as it was a nice shift in pace (looking back those issues between Days of Future Past and the Doom/Arcade story were fun and underappreciated). I hadn't considered this omni, as for some reason I had for some reason always considered Man-Thing a Swampie knockoff, but this has me quite tempted - provided I have the shelf space. Great overview and thanks for the video!
Your channel is awesome man! I've preordered this one and several others that you have talked about on the channel. Your info has really helped me in regrowing my comic collection. Keep up what you are doing man! BTW what do you think the chances are of Marvel making a Darkhawk Omnibus and a Spider-man 2099 Omnibus?
From where could I buy new collection editions, Trade Paperback and omnibus, Please tell me.
If they reprint again hopefully they will include the letter's pages as they do with ever other omnibus.
Got the Steve Gerber complete collection and can't wait to double dip with this omni. Now all I need is a vol.2 of Moon Knight and a Black Panther omni 🤞🏿
I asked my co-worker if she wanted to see some Giant Size Man-Things and now I have a restraining order and several training courses to attend. :(
Nice overview, though.
Welcome to my world. :)
Remember if you shake your Giant sized Man-Thing more than three times you're playing with it.
I’ve had this on order for a while. Also picked up Swamp Thing Absolute vols 1 & 2 recently, so maybe I should get some Heap reprint books and cover the waterfront, so to speak.
Omar...My Wallet is screaming. There's several omnis this week.
I was very happy when this reprint was announced. Along with Captain America Vol. 3, this will probably be the last 70s Marvel omni I purchase for a long time. After Conan, X-Men, Spider-Man, Thanos Origins and Master of Kung Fu, I think 70s Marvel is captured pretty well on my shelves XD
Would be cool if Marvel collected Gerber's later Man-Thing and Howard the Duck comics into an omnibus. Just picked up a copy of the Brunner DM cover from my local comics shop today.
If today is Man-Thing Monday what day is it for Mr. Fantastic? I'm picking this up tomorrow. I couldn't stop laughing.
I wonder if the change in color hues isn't a subtle remaster? Because they aren't uniformly different, even on the same (thicc) page.
Oh I seen that Man Thing movie. Looked like it was made for the Sci Fi channel.
My wallet has that same burning effect on my hand when I reach for it on release day! 🖐 🔥
hahaha.
"Giant-Sized Man-Thing"? Marvel in the 70's and their sly humor..
What makes it better is that he said it three times within 15 seconds.
💀💀💀
Sounds like Marvel may have heard us about the paper quality issues. 👍
Question: Does the new printing with the Olivetti dust jacket still have the hardcover printing on it as with the Brunner version you are showing in this video?
There's a Man-Thing movie?!
I saw the man thing movie. Don’t remember a bit of it 😂
Omar I actually have seen the Man-Thing movie not at all what I expected though lol
The Swamp Thing from Marvel Comics
The Man Thing from DC Comics
Is this all and everything of the man thing, I skipped the swamp thing omnibus because you get all the extras buying the bronze ages vol 1-3
Torn to get this or not. Wish it had infernal man thing.
Preordered the DM a while back.It will look good sitting next to my Werewolf by Night omni.Question..I heard this book felt really light.Whats your thoughts Omar?
That man-thing Monday tho 😂😂😂
Its particularly difficult to find a Giant-Size Man-Thing with an undamaged cover.
Can't say i've ever been a fan of Swamp......I mean Man-Thing. I do have the first issue for some reason though.
I had to let this one go sadly. Too many omnis! Cant get them all.
Do you think they will ever make Man Thing Epic Collections? That's what I an currently collecting.
I feel like I’m not sophisticated when I say this but it’s hard for me to get into these older BnW omnibus
From where do you buy Trade Paperback, Omnibus and all kinds of Comic books and could you please tell me from where can I buy them NEW, Please 🙏.
Which country are you in? The answer depends where you are.
I'm curious the war of the realms has like over 30 tie-ins are they going to make a omnibus just with the tie in
There is an omnibus. :)
czcams.com/video/pgVYcdgpC0k/video.html
Which omnibus would you recommend first, this one or the New 52 Swamp Thing Omnibus?
Hmmm this is a classic to me. But modern readers would love the N52 swamp thing
If I end up buying a Man-Thing omnibus I'll probably end up getting a Swamp Thing omni, and vice versa... If I'm buying one Thing I might as well buy another.
Hi! I´m from PORTUGAL, and the omnibus that i would like to see a reprint it´s THE TOMB OF DRACULA vol.s 2 and 3. They are very hard to find.
They are very hard to find in America!
Hi
😂 Man -Thing Monday
Hilarious segment..... now you will have people GOOGLE Man-Thing movie
Many pages, does the omnibus weigh alot? How heavy is the Man-Thing?
Yes, this book is heavy.
I never got into man thing
Seeing #11 this means this will be the only Man-Thing Omnibus right?
Sadly I don't think there is enough for another omnibus. Although an OHC of the rest of Gerber's run and Infernal would be amazing.
@@NearMintCondition what about another Omnibus with all material up until now? I just got Curse of the man-thing by Steve Orlando so there may be enough?
Hey Uncle Omar stay minty question collected editions are those also available in hard cover? Cuz there was one I was watching show the other day and it was broke versus Captain marvel and I would love to have that collected edition and a heart cover
Didn't like man thing at all but absolutely love swamp thing ;)
It looks like they missed man-thing appearance in master of kung-fu, which was first intro to the character.
Never really like the character nor it counter part at dc, but I did order the dm edition as it a chance to see the characters origin and give it chance.
Does this contain the clown story?
It does.
Algorithm :)
Swamp Thing is better.
MR. MARVEL COMICS disagrees. But I agree.
Hi
Hi again
