      Thank you! It’s funny how some topics like this one, which is higher value to me from the “hard knocks” experience it took to learn them, isn’t as appreciated as some of the more simple and basic videos. I guess there are more people who are just getting into it that watch videos. All that’s to say, thank you for your kind comment, I’m sincerely glad you enjoyed it! 👍😎

    Sharpie! The woodworkers friend. More than once it has saved me on a black finish

    Hey Tom one other note, someone in the live chat mentioned about the “super chat” function allows people to donate live (i guess?). Not sure if you would want that but I’m pretty sure you’d get quite a few (very well deserved btw!) donations. Understand tho if you’d find it a distraction. Also I can tell your teaching is a labor of love yet on the other hand “the worker is worthy of his wages!” Edit, I just saw someone said YT takes 30% of that so maybe not the best choice😐. I’m sure you’ve looked into all that anyway.

    Hey Tom, did you do this process between every coat of shellac or just after the final one ( as I’m thinking about it I assume it’s mainly after the final coat as “finishing the finish” implies. Thx and if the answer come up in the rest of the video, no need to reply. Appreciate youaking the time to answer the many questions of us novices 😁👍

    Love these shop session videos, every one. Great stuff. Thanks!
    BTW: Based on my limited experience, I will say the Renaissance Wax is in excellent product -- especially if you put on very thin coats and let the coats dry completely. Don't hurry this wax. Further, it can be used on almost any surface to good effect.
    The single drawback in my estimation is it's price. It costs quite a bit more than other waxes that work as well for purposes of woodworking. Again, just one person's experience...

      As you can tell, I never get bored of the creative possibilities and the beautiful potential and varieties of wood species. Some time we may have the camera lady make an appearance, but she is more comfortable on the other side of the lens!😎 Thank you again! 👍

    I miss yesterday your live episode about this mater. I want to ask you how do you solve a litlle problem. Wen you stain any kind of wood, for example oak to a dark colour and after you aply the first base coat and sand it to much on the edges and the base of the wood comes out, how do you correct it?. I´m refering the edge venner were the base is more thin and delicate. Thanks for another great video. Best regards from Portugal :)

    • @EpicWoodworking
      @EpicWoodworking  Před 3 lety

      Hello to you there in Portugal! Yes, I think I understand your question. I talked a bit during this video about the common issue of “sanding through” stain revealing the lighter colored wood beneath. When showing this on the ebonized table bases, usually it happens in an edge where it is easiest to sand too much. In the case of the black stained base, I simply used a black marker to “touch up” the lighter spots. But you could use any stain method of the same color to add back the color to that spot or area. Then the next coat of finish will seal in the color repair. As the finish builds in thickness with each successive coat, the likelihood of sanding through is lessened.
      Hope that helps answer your question. Thanks for watching from Portugal! Tom 😎

      @@EpicWoodworking Thankyou so much Tom for your relply Tom. it helps me a lot with the marker. I´v been stain all the piece again with a spray gun. What really happens is geting more dark that i predict. I´m not a good fan of stain wood. Thanks once more . João
